Aisling Grimlock has been through more than most reapers can bear… and still she’s standing.

Her mother is back from the dead but Aisling isn’t convinced she’s worthy of being accepted back in the family. Unfortunately, Lily Grimlock isn’t always her daughter’s biggest. Often her brothers take over… and her father… and her boyfriend… and her best friend… oh, and an impending wedding. In addition to all that, she also has to take on magical storms and possible zombies (even though no one believes the dead are really rising).

Aisling may be spoiled, but she’s a fighter to the core. She won’t give up until every question is answered… and that’s where things are heading as her wedding approaches and her mother’s ultimate fate is finally sealed.

This three-book omnibus includes Grim Rising, Grim Tempest and Grim Vows.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Aisling Grimlock, youngest in a family of reapers, responsible for harvesting souls and delivering them to their appropriate eternal reward (or punishment, as the case may be), has a number of challenges in these three books. She's getting ready for her wedding, though her bestie, Jerry, has things well in hand for that, which is fine by her; she is threatened frequently by wraiths, soul-sucking ghouls who get a special boost from reapers; and a specter resembling her late mother keeps appearing. A solid person resembling her late mother had appeared several books ago in this series, but there's something off about her, and most of the Grimlocks don't trust her. The policeman who has plagued her for some time, feeling she's a killer because she's so often around dead bodies (or zombies, in an earlier series), gets his just reward for his role in creating chaotic weather systems that make those caught in the violent storms to turn on those near them, in uncontrollable rage and violence. (My late husband used to get very cranky when there was unusually low pressure, as before hurricanes or certain weather fronts, so this supernatural feature was more believable to me than others in the books.) (He was never violent, just really hard to be around.) Anyway, Aisling gets through all of these challenges in this three-book novel, which is more dramatic and less snarky than the others. I'm kind of sad to see the last of Aisling and her gang.

Aisling is constantly finding trouble, ironically it isn't her fault. A woman that looks like her mother came back to reunite with her family, only she's there for nefarious reasons. All of her brothers and her father is trying to protect her because she is the only girl in the family. Her focus is on her now fiance, Griffin. She always gets into trouble because she talks to the spirits before her scepter absorbs them so they can go onto their afterlife. Oh yea, did I mention her family members are reapers.

I really enjoy the Grimlock family, especially Aisling she is full of sarcasm and does whatever she wants. Whether its fight with her arch nemesis Angelina and get arrested, or steal her fathers cars after she sneaks out of the house for whatever reason. She gets upset because her brothers have different rules from her. Her father and brothers call Griffin, handsy cop among other names. I couldn't imagine a family that has more love for one another, more co-dependent, or one that is any stronger. I highly highly recommend this series and strive everyday to be as confident as Aisling.

A lot of fun.

Okay, now I’m all caught up with the backstory of the Grimlock family. I only picked this up because I have been reading Braden and Izzy’s series, however the chaotic Grimlocks, and Jerry, definitely rated their own series.

I had so much fun filling out all the snippets dropped in the spinoff, and Jerry and Aislings co-dependent relationship was so flipping cute. Give that man his tiara for putting up with her 😉

However, there is one teeny tiny con I encountered, and that was the epilogue. Feeling completely spoiled for any future spinoffs as now I know what happens to the Grimlock siblings.

Oh well, I love it anyway 💕

15* for three great novels.

As Griffin and Aisling's lives progress her family faces the ultimate betrayal by one of their own.. doesn't matter what life throws at her Aisling doesn't back down, she fights and snarks her way through everything in her own inimitable style..

A brilliant and engaging read that doesn't falter or drag.. funny, laugh out loud wit from the leading characters.. look forward to seeing if the next generation will have their own special series.

Aisling is the end...the living end

I don't know what I would do without this series. This needs to continue for a very long time. Aisling is snarky, bright, funny and a great character. The grimlock family are intriguing and their mysteries make for a wonderful afternoon reading reading. Gargoyles, wreaths, ghosts and reapers ... good for a laugh or a year. You can't beat the axe books for pure enjoyment.

Extraordinary!

I highly recommend this magical boxed set, which makes it so much easier to binge, to readers who love a great laugh with their mysteries. This is my third time reading these hilarious and oh, so romantic books; they feel like old friends who bring the good cheer. Enjoy!

Supernatural fantasy

Aisling and Griffin are happy to be in their own town home. Content as they are, Aisling still seems to be a target of various supernaturals and she is still not convinced her back from the dead mother is not involved. There are numerous battles to come but they are determined to survive together, forever.

A very fun series.

Aisling is snarky, spoiled, and loads of fun. She also appears to be a trouble-magnet, so her boyfriend and family are going nuts trying to keep her safe. It doesn't help that she doesn't want their help...

Start at book 1 and read the series. You won't regret it!

Captivating

Great read. Plot lines for every book but one major plot that is revealed in book 9. These books have it all, suspense, comedy, romance and mystery all rolled into one. Can't wait to read more from Amanda.

laugh out loud greatness

I can’t count the number of times I laughed out loud with this series. I LOVED every bit of it. The side characters were as amazing as Aisling. I loved the family dynamic and was sad to see it come to an end.

Awesome Series

I Love the Grimlock family. I loved the ending of this 9 book series, but it is not really the end, thank heaven. There is a spin off series that has a new heroine, with the Grimlock family playing an important supporting role in the new series called, A Deathgate Grim Reapers Thriller. So far there are 3 books out. Plus there are a couple cross-over books that feature the Grimlock family. Yeah!

I read all 9 books in this series back-to-back. Loved the characters, even when they went a little over the top. The little mysteries in each book were interesting, and the bigger mystery held up until the very last book. Then there were a few too many "gimmies" to wrap up all the lose ends. But it was still an exceptionally entertaining read. There's a lot of humor woven into the books - I particularly love Aisling's You're a Loser dance, and the I Was Right dance. Playing shark sounds like a blast. And the series is on Kindle Unlimited. Worth the time.
