Good book for printmakers. I bought it to learn techniques for gelatin prints, which is not covered in the book. Still a good book because it covers technique in great detail with good photos. A solid how-to for printmakers who use a press and a few who don't.

(Almost) everything you would ever need to know about making monotypes and monoprints through a variety of techniques from relief to screenprint to collograph to..... And, if you don't know the difference between a monoprint and a monotype- this book is a good place to start.

Excellent resource for printmaking techniques that use a press. While the book does include other techniques, the vast majority benefit from the use of a press. However, there are some stunning examples and styles included in this book. Some of the techniques will be useful for lower tech monotypes (like gel presses). Definitely worth the read and worth remembering for future reference.

I was hoping for something a little more bootstrappy.
I don't have access to a press or anything... so I wanted something down and dirty.

This wasn't that book.

BUT!

The book is chock full of really good printmaking information. I don't think I'll use it, but if you want to expand your printmaking skillset, I'd definitely check this out. It's pretty outdated, but the information is sound.
