Everything about my life is about to change…I thought that my life was boring, my grandma told me that on my eighteenth birthday she would tell me a secret. I find out that I'm a witch, my best friend's a werewolf, and the quiet boy who just joined school is a vampire. Oh and to make things even more complicated, and my other friend just happens to be a smoking hot demon. Author's is the prequel in the Negre Clan series. An introduction to A Witch's Fate, book two in the series.
Well this was a good taster for the series. I like the world being built and the characters. It's just a short story so you cant get a great feel for everything. It seems like being a good paranormal world.
This book mainly introduces the characters in this story and their relationship to Ivy Sparks, the witch named in the title. There is a little bit of action, more toward the end, but it is abruptly cut off with the words, "to be continued." It is sometimes difficult to follow, because each chapter is told from a different character's perspective, and each one hints at things which may or may not be related to the story but, if explored, could add some interest.
The book is also super short, with each of four characters having two chapters written from their POV. I know it says it is a prequel, but it's more of a serial than an actual novella. If I hadn't already purchased the next book in the series, I don't think I would read it, because there is really nothing in this one that piques my interest. As far as the reverse harem label, right now all I've seen is that the werewolf and the other supernatural creature, that nobody knows what is, are students at the same school as Ivy and another girl that hangs out with them, who we know nothing about, and both males have crushes on Ivy. When the vampire shows up with plans to also pose as a student, he is also drawn to Ivy.
This story is about a group of supernatural beings living in Stokers mills. Ivy a young witch just comming into her powers at 18, Nathan a foster brother of her best friend but he is hiding what he is, Carl a wolf shifter. They all know each other from school then the new guy a vampire named Ben who is hidding from other vampires. It's an interesting story lots of mystery, intrigue. I liked the characters. The author seems to been taking her time building the story. This is part one or a prequel and it would be nice to see what the author has planed for the story. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and honestly enjoyed it. Just wished it was longer
The premise was promising, but the execution just kind of fell flat. The blurb says that the MC didn't know she was a witch, that it was a secret, but in the book itself she already knows. There is also barely any interaction between the characters. The book was fairly well written, but the character chemistry and interaction needs work. I might read the sequel because the MC seems like a good character and I hope to see the characters interact and develop more.
This wasn't an actual book, it was more like the first episode in a serial. There was no real story arc, no real world building side from a few throw away comments, no character development and no real relationship building. Had the author been honest about it being a serial, I would've given it 3 stars. Even as a serial it wasn't more than mediocre, but I would've respected the author more. I'm not going to read anything else by this author.
Barely an introduction. Perhaps the main characters in the following story: Ivy (an eighteen-year-old witch), Nathan (perhaps the demon mentioned in the blurb), Carl (a werewolf), and Ben (a vampire). The blurb presented more information not included. Possibly part of a reverse harem story.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
I've been passing this up because of the length and just realized it's a prequel to the main book. I enjoyed this and I think it's the start to what will be a good book. I'm going to read that now.
This book is an introduction to the main characters that are in book 2. It lets us know who's who and what they are. It is short but gives you an idea of where the other book in this series will be heading.
For what was supposed to be the start of a series it was woefully inadequate. Just as you start to get into it it's finished . Might try another one at some point but not now.
I like the story idea but it's just so short. Where's the rest of it? Also the blurb does NOT match what's happening. She's only just found out she's a witch???? I must only have part of the book. I hate it when people chop the story up.
