CIA Agent Liam Cauley takes on a new identity. Sent to Italy to assist a team tasked to infiltrate and take down a rogue operative working against the United States government.
Establishing trust with his target is nothing short of daunting. With each new challenge forcing him into conflicting decisions, secrets that were thought to be long-since buried might teach Cauley something about himself and those he thought he could rely on.
Through a tangled web of treachery, Cauley’s discoveries will bring dark truths to light.
The stakes are high, but this agent will stop at nothing to complete his mission.
Even if that means going back to the place it all started.

I’ve been waiting and waiting to read Liam’s story. I was not disappointed. I love the Italian setting of this suspenseful tale as well as all the new characters Rachel Renee has introduced. Loved the suspense and intrigue and I didn’t see the end coming. Great read! ~A Bibliophile ❤️📚

I love a good mystery with lots of twists and this did not disappoint. This book is about a CIA agent, and about his first case. He is sent to Rome to try to figure out who the rogue agent is, and his major assignment is to become close to the son of a former agent, that they believe is now selling US secrets and has become a gun runner. Nicollino (or Liam) fast befriends Santi, and they have a mutual respect and love for each other, much like brothers. Nic's fellow agents - he can never decide if he should fully trust them or not, since they don't seem to share much with him, and seem to be working their own agenda's. The book goes back and forth from current to 10 years prior. It has lots of twists and turns, and I was totally surprised with the ending of the book. I really did not see that coming, and it's not often that I am so blindsided. If you like a good mystery/suspense book, and enjoy reading about CIA agents, then you should definitely give this one a read.
The Professor is a face-paced read that I couldn’t put down! It draws you in and refuses to let you go. I loved the character development and difficult choices the main characters had to make. I highly recommend this one and can’t wait for the next book in the series!!!!
Liam’s story was gripping but realistic where the twists and turns were unexpected, as was the ending.
Young Liam, fresh out of the academy and heading out to his first assignment while keeping it a secret from his family and new, unofficial girlfriend, Eliza. The Professor is written in first person with the chapters toggling from present day to the past (I enjoyed reading this way). The author, Rachel Renee weaves a tale that will leave you second guessing all the way through. I thought I knew what was going to happen but was stumped at every turn. I enjoyed the characters of Liam, Sophia and Santi and was invested in their outcomes right away. I found myself wanting to read their story and was picking up my book whenever I had a spare moment. I enjoyed it cover to cover. Speaking of covers…. isn’t this one beautiful!!!
This was my first time reading this author and I absolutely loved this book!! It was a fast paced, easy read that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!! Mystery, intrigue, twists and turns are just some of the reasons why this is such a great book. I always love a good mystery!!
This book was so much fun to read, but not in the 'fun' sense. It was intense and suspenseful and I was, as cliché as it sounds, on the edge of my seat biting my nails. I've missed reading these type of stories and I am so glad I found this author! Great read. I highly recommend!!
I’m a busy mom and listen to most books on audio bc I have a hard time finding time to sit and enjoy a book. I’m so happy I made time for this read! It kept me on my toes and I looked forward to my alone time everyday to dive into this story! Add this to your must read list!
I haven't read the series that spawned Liam Cauley, so I went into this book without knowing much of his background with Eliza. After reading this, I am interested in reading the Savannah PD series. I enjoyed watching Liam try to remain true to his own values while also becoming more Niccolo every day of his undercover assignment. It was difficult in his world, trying to figure out who, if anyone, he could trust. And the friendship Niccolo formed with Santi, as part of the job, became the most real relationship of the book, in my opinion. This story wasn't always told seamlessly, and there were times I wanted to put it away and read something easier. But I really liked Liam/Niccolo, as well as Santi, and I wanted to know how their lives turned out. There was violence, but not as much as there could have been with this type of book, and there were some characters to love and others to hate. There were moments that had me on the edge of my seat. And always, there was Liam, just wanting to do the right thing - and if he could do it without destroying people he was growing to care about, that would be even better. Whether he was successful or not, I won't say. I will say that this turned out to be an interesting, satisfying book.
WOW! WOW! WOW! THE PROFESSOR by Rachel Renee BLEW ME AWAY!! She is a New Author for me and She Had me Intrigued from the Very Beginning of the Book and never a Dull moment page after page!! So Full of Intense Suspenseful Surprises and Entertaining Events that happen. Once I started reading, could not put it Down and devoured it in ONE Sitting. Rachel Renee is a New Author for me and I will definitely will look forward to read more of her Writing.
I enjoyed the story but felt like it dragged a little for me at times. There were twists and turns that kept my head confused. Good but just not my style I guess. This was my first time reading this author so I just was not used to her style. Give it a try though. Just because it was not my favorite does not mean it might not be yours.
This is a great mystery thriller book. I loved how it was fast pace and it had great twist and turns. You never knew what was next. You thought it would go one way and wham it did something different. I loved the suspense. Great read.
This was a great book. There were some slow spots but it didn’t bother me at all. The twist and turns that this book does kept me wanting to read it. It takes place just when CIA agent Liam Cauley becomes an agent. This book you takes you on his career and the places he goes. You will not be disappointed.
This was the first book of Mrs. Renee’s that I’ve read. It took me a little bit to get into the book because in some places it was a little slow moving for me but the further I read the more intrigued I became. There’s a good amount of suspense and great plot twist. Overall, I found it enjoyable and I wouldn’t mind giving another one of Mrs. Renee’s books a try.
This was a great book. It starts 11 or so years ago with a brand new CIA Agent Liam Cauley on his first assignment and the timeline alternatives between then and now. It seems his first case has had some new developments and things get interesting in Italy. I love Liam and Santi. We have a rouge CIA Agent gone gun runner, 3 fellow agents who have their own agendas and secrets, a handsome arrogant son of a gun runner, intrigue, suspense and amore.
CIA Agent Liam Cauley takes on a new identity in his first assignment.
I loved that we go to se agent Liam grow, learn and develop his career from the very beginning. As he travels to a foreign country he meets the other agents and the son of the man he is to help infiltrate.
The things to love about this book are" - The twists and turns - The secrets - Many surprises you don't see coming - The secrets - Liam as he try's to process his feelings for the ones he is working with and his job - Did I mention the secrets ---- many WTH moments

Rachel Renee did not fail on keeping me in the edge of my seat of wanting to put this book down. It is fast pace with twists and unexpected turns. You feel the emotions of Liam through out the book. I'm looking to reading Liam's next adventure.
Sadly this book was an ok read for me. It seemed to drag some for me and so it took me awhile to get into it, to like the characters. But the book is a good mystery novel there are twists and turns that leave you guessing for what might happen next. I wasn’t too invested in the characters but I was curious enough to keep reading. This is a new author to me, and I might have to see if she has more books to give a try.
The Professor had me hooked from the first chapter or from my first read about Liam in Instincts. From a rookie to a seasoned CIA agent, this story has you turning the pages. Engrossed in the story and wondering what will happen next. Wow what an ending! Definitely a must read!!
