The Summer Solstice brings new mysteries from the deep.
Tourist season is underway in the coastal community of Beechwood Harbor. Holly Boldt is up to her eyebrows in work. Between the coffee shop and her potion business, things are moving at a break-neck pace. But when a teenage runaway starts causing trouble around the harbor, she has to step in, especially when she realizes the terrified girl isn’t just another out-of-towner on summer vacation.
With her posse of magical misfits, Holly’s ready to kick up some sand and get to the bottom of the guarded teen’s dilemma. After all, summer in Beechwood wouldn’t be any fun without a little magic mystery.
**Previously published in the Spell or High Water Anthology.** ***Fits in the timeline after the events of Lucky Witch, book five in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series.**
This was a sweet little softy mystery between the full-length ones in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series. Summer night beach walk, mysterious girl, a lost item, and caramel apple ice cream for Adam.
This was a short and sweet piece with a theft at the heart of the story and a lost girl wanting to go home. It was light and quick, moderately engaging.
An okay read. Not really much of a storyline but if you love the Beechwood series then you'll probably want to read this one. A very quick read - great for a coffee break. A late night walk has her coming face to face with a sea lion. She thinks nothing more of it until she spots a young girl at the coffee shop. Who suddenly runs away when she tries to make contact. Later she finds out that she's cooling her heels at the police station after a tantrum. When they manage to gain her trust it turns out that she's a selkie whose pelt has been stolen. Who has taken it and why? Can they get it back before she's condemned to a life on land?
This one was short, but very cute. It seemed like the Paranormal/Supernatural version of the Amish Rumspringa. Of course when Holly realized a young girl was in trouble she stepped into help, getting everyone else to help too. It didn't take too long before Clarice told them her story and they were jumping up to help. I thought it funny how a terse word for Adam was all it took to get Clarice what was taken from her, so that she could go back home, with some not great memories, sadly.
Cute very short story that seems to take place sometime after the last entry. Nothing much happens, and the overall arc of the series doesn't seem to advanced. I enjoyed it, but definitely fluff and not necessary for the entire series.
Cute story. Holly, Evangeline, Adam and Nick help a misplaced Selkie- a magical creature. Clarice is a sea lion that can shift into a human. She is spotted in town and later gets arrested for stealing. She just wants to go back to her pod and be with her kind, only someone has taken her skin/pelt and she can't turn back into her true form and is stuck on land as a human. She needs to find her missing pelt before the Summer Solstice or she won't be welcome to rejoin her pod because they will think she would rather be a human and therefore is not a true selkie. She will be disgraced. She needs to get back to her pod!
Not my usual genre of book but I found this series because I was looking for books narrated Amanda Ronconi and I thought 'what the heck, I'll give it a try'. Well, I am so grateful I did. The stories are fun, the characters are interesting, and more importantly, the stories evolved and the writer matured the characters as the series moved forward. I often get frustrated when characters remain the same from book to book and as a result lose interest in the story line. FORTUNATELY, that isn't how Danielle Garrett managed this series. The character's maturing throughout the series made the stories more interesting and kept me engaged throughout.
Tide Dance by Danielle Garrett is a fun little novella in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series in which Holly and Adam find themselves looking for a selkie's stolen pelt!
This was quite short but I still enjoyed it considerably. The selkie in question was a lost teenager and the mystery turning out to be a scorned lover was predictable yet entertaining. This was the perfect way to get a breather while waiting for Holly to embark on yet another adventure with her dog shifter boyfriend and a group of supernatural roomies!
I loved this short story❤️ I’ve read all of her other books and was happily surprised to find this story . One of these days I hope to see her and Adam finally get their act together and realize just how perfect they are for each other and this story was a really good place to start!!!
This is a novella 5.5 of the beechwood harbor series. While 4.5 made sense with a tie in to the beechwood ghost series, this book did not add anything to the series. This could have been a good book if it had more content. But teen loses seal skin and the first person to be questioned stole it. End of story.
Tide Dance: A Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery Novella (Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries) was written by Danielle Garrett. Holly notices something strange on the beach. Then there is a teenage girl who seems to be a runaway. Can Holly help her? Or is there something else going on altogether? Overall, this was a good novella to read while waiting for Garrett's next novel.
Another fun story about the supernatural lives in Beechwood Harbor. I discovered this storyline and the sister lines by accident and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Ho!!y and friends will give you a sweet mystery to solve as well as a sweet romance or two, love this character!
Danielle Garrett delivers another great look into the quiet, quaint little town of Beechwood Harbor. The coastal town has many supernatural residents that interact with the humans and life is so much fun. Sometimes strange things happen, though.
The Beechwood Manor gang meets a selkie- a sea lion shifter and find that she needs help. Its a quick story, but tells you more about the denizens of Beechwood Manor.
It's the height of summer and lots of strangers are in town but only one is a silver-haired teen with purple eyes who is caught for stealing. But there's more to her than meets the eye.... REALLY short but just fine. Not sure if it's going to be significant in the series.
I read this as part of Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection: volume 2
aww a selkie! And this story does feel complete! Yay! I am intrigued by these characters and just the world of selkies in general. I hope we see more of Clarice sometime!
Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery #5.5 A pretty short read… Choppier than most of the books in this series. This author has a tendency to leave big chunks of the story out and skim over them. This was worse than most, but probably because it's so short.
A super cute novella in the Beechwood Harbor world. I love selkies and this was a very fun and quick read. I wish it was a little longer and that the last chapter could have been drawn out a bit more. Not essential to the main storyline of the series, but well-worth the read.
