Legends Reborn #1-3

Legends Reborn: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Die, reincarnate, repeat. It's been a long fifteen hundred years... After centuries of deaths and rebirths, wizard Emma Hale—formerly known as Merlin—wants nothing more than to find the present incarnation of King Arthur and break the spell binding their souls in this morbid cycle. Too bad she has no idea how she cast that spell in the first place. Oh, and she's also got to fend off the shadow creatures aiming to kill Arthur all over again. Which might be easier if Arthur's current host wasn't so cocky yet distractingly good-looking that Emma is falling even harder for the man she can't have. Now that Arthur's spirit is awakening, every creature of darkness in a thousand-mile radius is slavering for a taste. Worse, a merciless adversary from Emma's past has reappeared, intent on destroying them both—for good. But the quest to finally free their souls will unearth secrets that could shatter Emma and her king before their enemies even have the chance. This omnibus edition contains all three books in the Legends Reborn Magic Waking, Soul's Blade, and Dragon of Destiny. It also includes four never-before-seen bonus scenes, giving readers a look inside Darton's point of view and a glimpse of the characters' future.

Three stars for effort.... both theirs and mine...

Three stars for effort.... both theirs and mine...
This was my third attempt to read this,I thought I could make it thru this but
But I just couldn’t ....
Too convoluted for me...
Personally I couldn’t quite figure out what this wanted to be,and the going back and forth between the present and the past was interesting at first but quickly got both old and a bit confusing at times...
What was more important to the H and the h and to the story ,the past or the present ?
Because everything you seemed to start going truly forward in the story and making some headway and think you know where the story and Em/Merlin and Darton/Arthur are going we’d have a hiccup and slide back to the past in a memory and suddenly the MC’s are pulling back and confused and were circling around to see where to go next....... and it’s feeling like we’re going one step forward and two steps back....
I honestly didn’t know what this was ? Action/adventure ? Maybe but even 1/2 thru the second book we still don’t complexly know why the dark Fae and some mysterious queen have a hard on ( hate the phrase used like this ,but just feels right) Arthur soo bad, or what Merlin/Em really want....and I gotta tell you not that whole martyr thing where a character takes on an insane amount of responsibility for the others around them and then acts like everything HAS TO BE on their shoulders like they are some all seeing, all knowing omnipresent god or something annoys the heck out of me...
Geez 1500 year old wizard/mage or what ever Em/Merlin isn’t God and they can’t do everything...
This is also one of those books/series where the MC’s and characters are constantly on the move or soo busy running ,hiding, fighting going to class etc. there isn’t really a lot time for relationship building or anything...
Like I said not that Em/Merlin really knows what the heck she wants anyway...
Em wants Dart bad, she’s been in love w/him forever but,is stubborn and prideful, because even though he/she/it sees him/her self as spirit more than anything else and not really tied to any one body or gender, they don’t want to let Dalton/Arthur have him/her til he can’t admit he’s always loved or wanted her even when they were the same gender back in the beginning and Arthur wasn’t comfortable to love someone of his own gender....
WTH?!?!?
Em is always telling us and herself that it’s not the body or gender that matters/counts that their meaningless to her/him but she’s hung up on this anyway and doesn’t feel the need to explain it to the poor clueless Dart..
Btw WTH kinda name is Darton ?
gods, this book just rumbled all over the place... what’s more important the past ? Or the present your living right now?
So what is Arthur didn’t know how to except his feelings for you back then ? Grow the F up and let him love you now...
That was the past!
Seriously it felt like just a lame roadblock that was thrown out the to keep the MC’s from getting together to quickly knowing this was going to be a l o n g drawn out story in three books...
Deep sigh...
This felt like a dog 🐕 running in circles not knowing what direction it wanted to go.... the romance was just there enough to say there was one and the couple were rarely ever alone...
Felt like “romance” by committee.... the over loaded van with the Scooby gang off to chase a mystery...
Just a mess...
Not really a romance in my opinion but I don’t honestly know what it was...
Ps. While I’m not big on King Arthur and his knights ,why on earth are soo many writers atm trying to make him gay ?
Why ? Not the first one I’ve seen doing this...
this was tiring and boring and confusing,No Thanks Ms.Chase.. all the best, good luck but no more for me.

This is a compilation three books released individually previously. Having them together is an awesome idea because I was riveted and would eagerly anticipate the next installment. I had been an ARC reader for this series and fell in love with this world that Eva shares with us.

Book1 - Magic Waking -
OMG! I am absolutely captivated by this miraculously enchanting, chaotic, mystical life you have introduced to me. Emma and Darton's story leapt off my Kindle screen and kept me entranced until I finished in one sitting! The imagery is so lifelike that I felt I was in the story, with them, running for my life. There was so much to take in and learn, I could feel Darton and his friends' confusion, disbelief, and wonder. I can't wait to continue on this quest with them, learning more about their past and themselves as they are presently - to see what trials they must continue to endure as the Darkest One continues to regain her powers. I am really loving this little band of misfits. BRAVO!

Book2 - Soul's Blade -
Eva does it again! This is Book 2, and you are immediately thrown into the aftermath of dealing with the mercenary dark fae. There is no time to really rest for Emma and Darton. As they continue to race to find a way to keep The Darkest One imprisoned while also reversing Emma's original spell, the relationship between the two flares. Both of their secrets and insecurities come more to light and threaten their lives and their bond. The author has you so wrapped up in the story, you can feel the characters. You are delving into the fray with them. Explosive and breathtaking. I cannot wait for the next installment! Brilliant!

Book3- Dragon of Destiny -
I am torn between having enjoyed this amazing tale so much and saddened that this is the final installment. I have grown attached to this characters, Emma (reincarnated Merlin), Darton (reincarnated King Arthur) and their whole crazy entourage.
The Darkest One was released in Book 2 and is now forging a path of destruction on her way to get to Darton to unleash the terror within.
There is so much happening and so many emotions boiling over - not just for the characters but the invested reader also. And invested is what you become of the creative Eva Chase's fantastic world! You can feel Emma each time she seeks to find and understand the darkness within her king' soul. And the emotions off both when The King finally acknowledges his true feelings for Merlin - I couldn't stop the flood of tears!
This is an awesome culmination of Legends Reborn. Bravo Eva!

If ever there was a series to 1-clik, I think this is it. Do it and you will soon find yourself entranced with this fantastic tale

Eva Chase’s Legends Reborn: The Complete Series is a fantastic collection of stories. I gave each 5 stars and highly recommend them. Here are my reviews.

Book 1: Magic Waking

"[S]arcastic wizardry, cruel fae, and a star-crossed love centuries in the making...” Yup, that's a pretty good description of this highly original take of the King Arthur and Merlin myths and what happens post-Camelot. Emma and Darton's story might've been centuries in the making but the result is that our sarcastic kick-a** heroine of a wizard is one that can take on all comers, be they unstoppable / unkillable fae mercenaries or anything else. Good thing too as it's needed here. Luckily for we readers, Eva Chase handles things perfectly ... though I do now have a string desire for more and am definitely looking forward to book 2.

Book 2: Soul's Blade

Eva Chase's highly original take on the Merlin and King Arthur myth continues in this wonderful book. You can't have Arthur without an Excalibur. Too bad it's lost ... and on the other side of an ocean ... and "every creature of darkness in a thousand-mile radius is slavering for a taste" of Arthur's soul now that it's reawakening in his reincarnation as Darton. Luckily Eva remains one heck of a kick-a** (if snarky) wizard and you just know she's ready to get the job done. Great lead and supporting characters (friend and foe alike), great plot full of action and the start of what I'm sure will mature into a real - and strong - romance. All tied up in a bow of wonderful writing.

Book 3: Dragon of Destiny

“With the clock ticking down toward global disaster, the choice may come down to saving the world or saving her king. “

Ok, our gal Emma Hale May be a reborn Wizard and all, but my oh my does she ever have her plate full.

• defeat the greatest if dark fae
• do that before it turns her king - and lover - freaking Arthur (reborn but still, it’s Arthur!) into its greatest weapon (note to self: centuries old curses laid on ones lover are a bad thing).
• as the dark fae (aka the Darkest One) gets closer fight the compulsion to kill Arthur herself thanks to the oath she took in exchange for the light fae's help

Don’t worry though, our Emma will pull things off - and do so in grand style.

Legendary reads!

Magic Waking

A wizardy read!

Die, reincarnate, repeat...
It's been a long fifteen hundred years...

This retelling tale of one of my favourite tales is superbly well done with fantastic characters and a great storyline.

I have always been a fan of the Arthurian tales and this book exceeded all of my expectations. Such a mind blowing read with a flippin' fantastic modern retelling!

Full of fae, darkness, light, magic, love, fate and adventure.

Perfect for readers of urban fantasy romances.

Soul's Blade

A magical read!

Find the magic sword or die...
Just another day in a reincarnated wizard’s life...

The sequel to book one was even more better than the first. Loved getting to know the main characters in their present and past lives. So interesting and addicting.

And that ending...I must say I am so glad I had the box set!

Full of fae, fae hunters, darkness, light, magic, love, fate and adventure.

Perfect for readers of urban fantasy romances.

Dragon of Destiny

A legendary read!

Kill the king to save the world?
Not on this wizard’s watch...

A grand conclusion to this series. I was so pleased and excited because this ending did not disappoint at all. It truly has exceeded all my expectations. So powerful and compelling.

Full of fae, fae hunters, darkness, light, magic, love, fate and adventure.

Perfect for readers of urban fantasy romances.

Great Story

I started this before when it was first coming out and never quite got back to it when the next series title came out because I couldn't remember the title. That said I'm so glad I found it again. This isn't King Arthur and Merlin as they're traditionally known but its an awesome and unique take on the legend I definitely enjoyed.

My main issue is really consistency errors. The one which stood out the most reading it in anthology form was that in book 1 and 3 Darton is 12 when he saved his sister from drowning in book 2 he is 9. I'm sure there were other small ones but that snagged in my head the whole time I was reading it hence mentioning it specifically. Also I think the story would have benefitted from a dual point of view because I'd love more from Darton's point of view than just bonus chapters.

Over all though its it's great story and I'd definitely recommend it.

Absolute gem

I really enjoy Arthurian stories, but this one was truly a gem. I've read quite a few Eva Chase books, but this trilogy is definitely my favourite.

Good pace, likeable characters, enjoyable plot. Loved the reincarnation idea, especially the fact that Merlin came back as different genders every time. The idea that a soul is without gender, and that Arthur loved Merlin's soul regardless of gender, ("I like you every way you could possibly look. As long as you’re looking back at me.”) *Swoon* Also, the flashbacks to their first life were wonderful.

Thanks, too, for the epilogues in Arthur's POV at the end of each of the books. Really enjoyed the last epilogue showing their life 12 years after the end of the trilogy. Now I'm actually thinking I'd love to read a book about Madelyn!

I loved every moment of this!! It's packed with magic and action!! Emma is fierce but oh so very emotionally driven!! She is duty bound to protect her king and is willing to sacrifice everything to do so. Along her journey she has learned so much and through this reincarnation, she is determined to get it right finally. I loved how past lives were told and that feelings were such a huge part throughout this series!! The bonus scenes were utterly brilliant!!! This is what Eva Chase does with breathtaking clarity... she tells the story in her own way and detail and it's entertaining and addictive!!!

Very good read....

Emma is Merlin and Darton is King Arthur. He has been reborn after each death not knowing who he is until a chance meeting with Merlin. This time....Merlin is a woman. It's a very interesting story of the king and his magician and how they defeat the darkness trying to kill them. I enjoyed this series.

Loved the characters. It was interesting and fun to read. Any age is appropriate.

Different take on age old issues

While this is a modernization of the Arthur/Merlin story, it’s unique development of the love between the two, and defining it, is a breath of fresh air. Well done Eva Chase.

Overall a good story

It was a little slower pace story than I hoped, but it was a good one in the end. Ending was just unexpected enough, but ended well. It was good enough that I will probably read more from her.

Arthur and Merlin

They've known each other for fifteen hundred years; thanks to a spell, thrown in panic, and to reincarnation. The One Darkness is stirring in her prison. If she gets her hands on Arthur's soul, she will destroy the humans.

Five Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and believe it's one of the author's best. All of the extra excerpts and pov for art in this book was a great addition! She chose scenes that I was hoping to have a pov for.
