For over 150 years, the story of the Civil War has been a source of contention, confusion, and even contempt in American life. kindle unlimited, as history has shown us and keeps showing us, things can change, sometimes to advancement and sometimes to regression of hard earned rights that keep having to be fought for over and again. This spanned a lot of years and a lot of lives, just this part of it; there was what all and who led up to it, causations and excuses, and decades of impact for equality fights for human dignity.

This book covers one of the most important events in American history and that's the Civil War. This is something that still has an impact on American today as some people have very strong feelings about what happened.

The roots of the Civil War go back basically to before America was even a country. Slaves were brought in and sold, most of them going to the South which used them on the vast plantations. (The technology that would have made slaves unnecessary didn't exist for a long time.) The slaves were not considered human by many and were mistreated, severely, by many. The book notes that, as the U.S. expanded in its number of states the issue of whether or not slavery would be allowed become very important and very decisive.

This led to the secession of states in the South and the Civil War. Topics covered in the book, among others, include The Missouri Compromise, Uncle Tom's Cabin, bleeding Kansas, John Brown, various leaders and generals, various battles, what happened to the Confederate economy, Sherman's March to the Sea, the prison camps, reconstruction and various other topics.

I am very interested in the Civil War and I think this is a very good book to cover the main topics.

This book is especially recommended for those who want to refresh their knowledge of the Civil War, or who are just interested in the subject and want to obtain accurate information about it in a readable way.

The book can be divided into three main sections.

The first section places and outlines very well in space and time the 19th-century United
States. It serves as a thorough political history and partly as a social history summary for the reader. It provides a comprehensive insight into the period leading up to the American Civil War, showing the political milestones
and the social tensions that then led to the culmination of the Civil War.

The second section is a chronological review of the Civil War. From this primarily military history section, you can learn about the main battles, troop movements, turning points and prominent military figures. In addition to presenting the events of war, the main political thread is not overlooked in this chapter.

The third section provides an insight into the post-war arrangement and gives the reader
a precise conclusion.

Overall, the book presents this series of events in a very intriguing way, which quite
deeply defined the further history of the United States.

Intriguing Read for all that need a refresher in the history of the Civil War, or just a bit of need to know knowledge.

I was fascinated by the way this way written. It gives you an insight to some of the history lost over the years.

I did feel a little out of place in a couple of spots, but over all I enjoyed reading through this.

A great read for all that wants to grasp the Impact it had. A neat little guide to help you start the search and research on the Civil War, or just a quick guide to finish your research.

This was a great read for someone who knew little about the civil war. It covers the facts leading up to the start of the war and also detailed descriptions of the events and battles throughout. Numerous sources were used to write the book and they are listed at the end for further research.

The postscript describes how these events shaped the future of the United states and is still shaping it today.

It mentions the different reactions of people to the book 'Uncle Toms Cabin' which can be downloaded for free (digital copy) on Amazon if you want a further insight to that period in time.

Such a simply and perfectly written book on the civil war and the key players involved in it. I learned a lot about the generals on both sides of the war. The south seemed to dominate just about every battle but couldn’t sustain the losses due to the shear number of Union soldiers that outnumbered them.

A condensed description of Lincoln's time in office

Learn about the abolishment of slavery. It's cost in lives. It's trails both North and South. Some lessens learned. Some issues still remaining. A short read compared to a long, costly war.

The Civil War: A Captivating Guide

This was a general guide which focused on The North & Eastern States in a generalized matter. What was shared was well documented. I would suggest it for an initial overview of The Civil War.

A good quick overview of the US Civil War. Covers some political dimensions including brief biographies of the major military commanders. It includes overviews of the most significant battles.
