Continue Amber's epic adventure in book three of the Children of the Prime!
he Trial of the Chosen has come to an end, leaving Amber stunned by the result. Though her loss to Elian hurts deeply, another, more profound pain begins to dwell inside her - having met the Prime, will she ever feel the same way again?
Now, she finds herself lost, not knowing what path to take. Until, at her lowest ebb, fate comes calling, and a brand new road opens up before her.
One that will take her on a far more dangerous journey...and perhaps even to war.
First of all, I want to point out how awesome the covers for these books are! The designs resemble exactly what happen on the books.
Second, my thoughts on this book #3... Ever since the first the book, I noticed hints and little details that could lead to a war, and now I see my suspicious became real. It's exciting to know this since my favorite characters are related to this war. Not a good thing for the characters, but quite entertaining to me! (oh well, lol)
Once again, the "divinity" of the Children of the Prime is driving me crazy. Too much adoration, too much "uniqueness." Someone needs to tell Amber and her Heralds that they are not above anyone, and that there are thousands of others just like them. I guess the only thing that I like about this is that this is another way of viewing the Enhanced people. After all not everyone thinks the same, so it makes sense that some people believe on gods and goddesses. (Still not fan of the idea)
And returning to the point of war... Amber against Brie and Kira?! Seriously? OH-NO... Sorry, but Amber just lost all her points with me. I know that she's being manipulated by "Father and Mother", at least a part of her, but still. No one comes against Red and Scout! It's unfair to think that Brie and Kira have condemned themselves and the City of Haven because they saved innocent people from a sick and twisted man. I don't know what the result of this war is going to be, and to be honest I'm anxious to know, because in this particular world anything can and will happen!!
...And because of that plot twist I didn't see coming ( I innocently thought Amber would join forces with the girls to destroy the Prime) is the reason I love Mr. Edge's stories. One can never guess or know what will happen in his stories. They are not predictable or boring whatsoever.
I liked that in this particular book, we were introduced to new powers for the enhanced people! I don't think that Brie and Kira are powerful anymore. The Herald's words were convincing enough to give me doubts. This Enhanced Universe is expanding by the second. It's so great that after all this time since reading Brie's story, this world has grown instead of being forgotten.
I definitely want to read book 4 now, please. I am so divided though, knowing what's comming next, I wish book 4 was on Brie's, Kira's and Amber's point of views.
Oh my! Things have really started to come together in this book!! Amber has grown exponentially as she continues on her journey in the city of Olympus. There are many references to characters from other books in the Enhanced world and hints that something big is brewing in the very near future. As always, Toby has written another epic part of Ambers journey and had me totally enthralled throughout every page! I cannot wait until the next book! If you are already a fan of this author you will most definitely not be disappointed. If you are new then I HIGHLY suggest going back to the beginning of the Enhanced series and starting your adventures with these phenomenal characters so that you don’t have to miss a moment!
2.5 stars The shortest book yet, I believe. Children of the Prime...meh.
I have been a big fan of Toby's writing. I first came across his work with "The Watchers" series and have read everything that he has published since. This book lacks the depth and breadth of his other books, I prefer longer stories and rarely download anything less than 320 pages at any price. These rapid releases feel half baked to me. I do not know if I will force myself to stay on this particular rabbit trail, which is a shame since I remain a believer in Edge's skill. This is the first book that he has written that was a chore for me to read and though I can see the strings of a better story to come, I am not sure that I have the patience to stick it out.
Another great read! I'm loving this series so far. Amber is such a likeable character and realistic as she's not a perfect angel. Power feels really good even though the outcome is not pleasant. I'm glad Amber accepts that fact instead of denying her power. The pacing is great in this book and we finally meet the Cure again and hear about Haven. To understand what they're talking about, I recommend reading the related stories (Enhanced series & the standalone "The Enhanced: Awakening"). I'm pumped to find out what happens next and whether Amber and Brie will finally meet! Oh the excitement!
I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that the story moves forward as does character development. I have not read the Enhanced series but can guess its content ... I do not trust the Prime or its brainwashed followers.
War is looming and I can guess what will be revealed to Amber; we'll see.
Well-written, though I do wish the grammatical issues had been addressed - capital letters where necessary, for example (Grandma). It's fast-paced and descriptive enough without being boring, so giving a great sense of place.
Interesting story about Amber's conversion to Herald of war. Adopting their ideology yet failing to realise the flaws within it and it will be great to see whether meeting Brie and Kira will change that perspective. Only time will tell and while there is good in all societies are the Prime outdated Gods who lead their people into a war that could have been avoided in efforts to rule the world. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
How things change ! Amber is now completely one of them !!
Surprisingly, Amber has been converted completely by the prime ! One look from them and she is completely devoted to defending them and the city. Their power is absolute and now she becomes a weapon in their arsenal, and she longs to use her power for them ! It's a crazy, fast paced, and very intriguing story ! Now they will march south , towards Haven . to war
The first 2 books of this series was awesome, but this 3rd book never took off. I felt this book is just a bridge to the next book. The whole book could have been summed up in two chapters. I felt like the author had no direction or a real story line. So disappointing
This book sees the Daughter being promoted to Chosen Herald and her male competitor promoted to Chosen Fire-blood. The nation leaders are now completing seeing the wiping out of a cult called the Cure which have been harassing the people on the fringes of the nation. The leaders of the nation want to take the city of Haven whose military were almost defeated by the Cure.
I got bored. I look I've the start I just think its moving slowly. I'm so angry at Amber right now, I wanna shake her and wake her up. Or possibly have Brie go into her mind and clear it of what I can only assume is crazy influence. The book well written.
Another interesting and enjoyable read from this talented author. I truly love t his series, however, I found myself getting rather annoyed at Amber's character quite often in this book. I will continue with the series, I just want Amber to wise up.
