While I enjoyed this book it wasn’t as exciting as book one. I found this book more drama-laden and riddled with immature behavior not only on the heroines part but from each God, whose ages probably aren’t even known. There was a lot of fighting between practically all the characters and a few times with X, the one whose suppose to be the big bad. The heroine acted beyond childish and made some really stupid decisions time and time again. Honestly I just hope the “gang” can come together to fight against X, every time they fight one another it’s like their energy feeds him more and they’re all too blind and distracted to notice. I still think the story shows promise and I’m curious to see where it goes I just hope they move on and grow up enough to deal with the actual problems going on rather than all the drama they are creating for themselves.

Well we got to know the gods more in this one. I'm a Hades lover personally and I felt really bad for him in this one he is always misunderstood. I want to know what X wants with Elyse. Elyse has lost another life too. I can't see how they can defeat X as he seems so much stronger then them all.

The steaminess and adventure continues with the second book in the series - Poseidon is Mine. Elyse’s relationships are further developing with each of the Gods. However, she also has another battle to fight and that’s one with her best friend not being onboard for the multiple relationships - clever and unique idea for RH.

The storyline is definitely building more and more with Elyse’s battle against X, as well as her own strength growing. Can’t wait to see how their final battle turns out throughout the series.

The POV’s of the Gods is also a great addition to the story to see what’s happening from the perspective, and makes it more than just Elyse’s story.

I highly recommend Poseidon is Mine and am looking forward to continuing the journey with Ares is Mine.

I loved the first book but this one didn't live up to my expectations as the first. Everything took a step back in this book than forward. Everyone turned into children in this book. The pushing and pulling from everyone got boring and repetitive real quick. Elyse in book 1 was strong and badass but in this one she was weak and kept running into danger half cocked. Then when the guys try to tell her to stop putting herself into danger like that repeatedly, she gets angry and throws a fit. Enter more push and pull and then sexy times and then pushing away.

Now the plot, Elyse needs to stop X from killing all the humans and all that. But every time Elyse confronts him, he easily overpowers her and she ends up losing etc etc same thing every single time. This goes on back and forth throughout the whole book, nothing really changes.

Now onto the boys
Ares: Very childish, not getting any chemistry between him and Elyse at all, it seems as though he's just thrown in the harem as an afterthought
Apollo: loved him in book 1 but in this book he comes and goes a lot, he was more like a filter in here
Poseidon: nice in the beginning but then near the end he ends up like the rest of them with running away instead of facing the problem but then again ALL of them keep running instead of talking to each other like adults.
Hades: an asshole and childish, was rooting for him in book 1 but the fighting/hate/love relationship he's got going on with Elyse is toxic as heck. And what's with him beating her up as well? Wow you really like her huh?

Sadly I will not be continuing this series, there was so much potential but instead, everything took a step back.

Character Building is Better

The characters show more growth here, but the emotions are still insta everything which bugs me. I like the idea of this story and I do want to know what happens, but I don't feel as engrossed in the story as I'd like.

Part of the issues is Young is rushing the emotions in this piece so much that not only do I not find them believable I don't feel invested in it. Another part of it is it doesn't really read like a reverse harem despite having one woman with multiple partners. It reads more like a cheater where her suitors might suspect but it's not really out in the open either and that really doesn't appeal to me. Additionally despite the multiple points of view with the intertwining scenes and settings, it doesn't read like one story, it reads like five people living their lives who happen to cross paths, it's not coming out cohesively. Elyse just sort of lives her weird messed up life, has a lots of sex, self destructs emotionally and fights a lot. There's so much potential here, I'm hoping future titles will pulls this together better.

This is the second book in the Gods and Monsters series and we get to watch so much character growth in this book. I think the thing that irked me most about this book is, they really do not "act" as a reverse harem. We get to see each guys point of view and of course Elyse's point of view but never do the relationships merge together into one. I really hope that all the gods get their heads out their rear ends and work cohesively as a team. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This book had some great character development from the first book. I feel like every scene that was rushed in book 1 now has better pacing, and it's easier to connect with the characters. I also enjoyed Elyse being questioned by her friend on her choice to take multiple lovers. It's a point that's often overlooked in RH books and I liked seeing Elyse reason her point of view.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I swear these books are great!!! We get to learn all about Poseidon in this book as he comes to the surface to find out what drama his family is causing now. Though he is in for a few surprises along the way as he finds out what is actually going on. Elyse is the only champion left and all the Gods are drawn to her in some way or another. It is great to follow all of the different interactions between them all as they pop in and out throughout the story. Great for fans of Gods, mythology, reverse harem, and steamy scenes. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Okay, so overall, this book was better than the first one. I actually enjoyed reading this one more. Most of the reason was because Poseidon was a better character than Apollo was. And that's the truth!

Poseidon was actually a full fledged character who actually had me smiling and feeling compassion for him and his problems. He's like the big brother who has to stop all of his siblings from fighting even if most of the characters aren't his actual siblings (just Hades, who is still as sarcastic as the first one, which is a good thing). Anyways, the path of his relationship with Elyse actually had way more depth than her relationship with Apollo! Seriously! Poseidon tried to cheer her up when she needed it and they talked about things. With Apollo, it was just...instant connection and they never talked! Poseidon actually had a conversation with her, more than one, and slowly he fell for her. Plus, the way he made her feel made me smile. He's such a sweet and good looking man! If she ends up dumping him, can I have him?

Now for our new character, Ares. I am eager to see that man in action! His sarcasm and charm are just as alluring as Hades is. Honestly, I love seeing the hot head going at a fight! I felt that the others didn't give him the benefit of the doubt, but seriously, I wanted more of him! Yes, he has a temper, but honestly, it sets him aside from all the others. I want to hear more of his rants!

Now the things I didn't enjoy....

Elyse...love her battling style and how she gets the job done...but...the same thing happened again. She kept bringing up her father in brothers and how she can't let them down in every chapter. Yes, we get the point. I get that she lost them and all, but please stop playing the same broken record and move on.

Secondly, I really really really....don't like her so-called-friend, Cantina. She bothers me more than Apollo! All she did was judge Elyse in all of her romantic decisions! I mean, give the girl a break! If you were really a good friend, then you would keep an open mind and stop calling your 'best friend' a whore. Seriously! Not only once, but twice! I know Elyse wants a human friend in all of this, but I think she should just cut her losses and find another friend. I know we probably will see more Cantina in the last two books, but please....I just...ugh...I wanna pull my hair out every time she comes in.

Third, the structure of the story just bugs me a lot. I mean, they would be talking and fighting in one scene and then suddenly in the same paragraph, they would walk away and go into another scene that was much calmer (such as going to a coffee shop or going home). Honestly, I think the author should at least put a gap in between scene changes, especially a fight scene. It takes away from the tense action and just leaves me going...."what the heck is wrong with this? Nobody would do that! I wouldn't just get done with a death risking battle and just casually walk down to the park to argue with a boyfriend." I'm sorry, but it's aggravating. Another part of that that bothered me is that the three Gods would show up for battle and rush into it, while the fourth would stay behind to talk to Elyse. And then after they talk, Elyse would walk away and then we would never know the end of that 'so-called battle'. It makes no sense!

Overall, besides those three aggravating problems, this book was better than the first one. I really hope that Poseidon continues to appear in Ares is Mine. Those two are by far my favorite Gods in this series. Hades is great too, but I like the Big Brother of the Sea and the Hotheaded Warrior. But if I had to pick between the four of them, I'd definitely say Poseidon is mine. ;)

Where is the magic???

Okay, so I was pleasantly surprised by the first book in this series. The writing could have been improved upon, and there was a fair amount of repetition involved in the descriptions, but it had a kickass main character, and some really interesting character dynamics.

But, at about 35% through book 2, I’m having to stop. I don’t know if I’ll come back to it later, but I have reached a brick wall for the moment.

I actually really like Poseidon as a character, and Elyse’s struggle to come to grips with her death and ensuing loss of humanity is fascinating. But, here’s my big issue: the style of the descriptions of romantic encounters is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. I honestly can’t fathom it. It’s like I’m reading a completely different author. In book 1, there was a great deal of description regarding the way magic complicated Elyse’s romantic connections with the gods around her; it was a genuinely massive component of her relationships. The author describes the sensation of Elyse’s magic connecting and entwining with either Apollo’s or Hades’s, and it feels significant. In book 2, this magical element is mysteriously GONE. Not just toned down, but literally nonexistent. So, it feels less like there’s a natural attraction and decent chemistry, with an extra dose of unknown magical connection, and more like two people who are just attracted to each other in a mundane way.

Now, let me emphasize that I am only 35% of the way through this book. It is possible some sort of explanation is given for this later on. But, she’s already had several romantic/sexual encounters with her guys, and there has been literally ZERO mention of the way their magics interact. I don’t think this was an intentional plot device by the author; I think this was either a deliberate or inadvertent change, and I really, really don’t like it.

If you had asked me, after book 1, if this would be an important component to the story, I probably wouldn’t have said it would make that much of a difference. But I would have been wrong. Because, instead of feeling like I’m missing part of the equation, and there’s something bigger at play that I need to figure out, like I felt in book 1...I feel like these relationships are just kind of...happening. It just feels too mundane for a story about gods, I guess?

I realize this is pretty nit-picky, and I’m not honestly sure if the problems I’m having with the story-telling will be problems other readers will have. But, whereas I was enchanted by Book 1, I am not finding that to be the case with Book 2. I really want to love it. I love these characters. I’m interested in the story. But I’m having trouble getting past the way the story and relationships are being delivered to me. I’m not giving the book 1 star for two reasons: a) I have NOT finished the book, so frankly giving any negative review is a little unfair, and b) There are some truly interesting things happening in terms of plot and character. But I also can’t go higher than 2 stars for a book that I am stopping midway through.

Again, I may very well be an outlier in my interpretation of these descriptions. This is just something that really bothered me, while reading.

Poseidon is Mine by Mila Young brings us back to the world of Elyse in the series of Gods and Monsters. X is still out there on the loose. Elyse is battling him, but every day that X is allowed to be free on Earth the stronger he gets, and the more humans die. Elyse has her hands full with all the various gods in her life. They all want her, but things just keep getting more and more complicated. Elyse will have to face more battles ahead and not all of them will be fought on the battlefield.
Poseidon is Mine is the book that I ended up having a love/hate relationship towards. I love the complexities of the story, but quite often the characters got on my nerves. LOL! The relationships between all the characters are complicated, and there are moments of where I honestly wanted to line them all up and smack them. This story definitely highlights the complications of Elyse’s life. She has to keep so much of what is going on in her life a secret from the regular humans she interacts with. It’s hard and we see how it takes a toll on her. You can’t help but feel for her, because she doesn’t have anyone she can really turn to about any of it – the war she’s fighting, the relationship issues with the men, and her own feelings. She’s alone, but I applaud the fact that she doesn’t routinely sink into a hole of despair.
I know that the author is showing the reader that these are all flawed characters, but there are some moments of where I honestly feel like they are just acting like children. In certain moments I expect more from them. I’m most disappointed in Elyse when she makes certain decisions that I feel are purely self-centered. She is all that stands between the humans and X, but she decides to do what she wants, all though briefly. It still makes a huge impact.
This story is more complicated than the first, and things are grittier as well. The author takes things to the next level with the characters showing us their flaws, faults, and hang-ups. You’ll feel disappointment in them, but then, on a level, you’ll come to understand them more as well. I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. This book isn’t just another reverse harem romance with lots of romance, steamy moments and breaks for the heroine. This story brings home that she and humans are in for the fight of their lives, and that the moments she takes for the men in her life…are a luxury. If you enjoyed the first book…grab this one, but buckle up because it’s an intense ride.

Not my favorite in the series

I love Mila’s books that I have read so far. I struggled staying focused in this book though. I loved the first one but this one just fell flat for me. Not much progress on the X front and the whole training with Heracles and encountering X to battle seemed a little repetitive.

I noticed a few things that really irked me during the whole book. First, Elyse was stuck between a rock and a hard place when X showed up in her home while she was injured. She knew she couldn’t fight him and survive. I remember reading that if X caused her death, she wouldn’t be reborn which is why Hades was so adamant that she didn’t fight him in the first book when he killed her himself. So she took matters into her own hands and ended her life, ensuring she would be reborn. But when she woke up, everyone was mad at her and said she should have engaged a fight with him while the Gods came to her rescue. If she is that important to them and mankind, why in the world would they want to jeopardize her like that?!?!

Then there is Hades and his bipolar attitude towards her. He says he can’t get involved with her beyond sex but then confronts her and demands to know what they are to each other... what?! Dude seriously, make up your mind.

This book just seemed kind of all over the place with the differing attitudes of all the characters and I found myself annoyed with pretty much every single person while reading. Even Elyse and her stubborn behavior started to grate on my nerves. I plan on finishing the series because “I AINT NO QUITTER!” 😉😁...but I may have to step back and come back to the series later.

Love is not a choice.

I absolutely love the Gods and Monsters Series by Mila Young! Here, in Poseidon is Mine, we have some really fantastic character development - both in regards to relationship and personal growth. In this book we get to see some super sweet moments from Apollo, Poseidon, and yes, even Hades. Again, we get to see into the minds of the various gods of the story with multiple POV moments, which helps us (as the reader) to understand why some of them are acting the way they are. Poseidon is Mine also hosts a few more steamy scenes between Elyse and these gorgeous gods, but she also holds off on those steamy moments when she can (she is, after all, only part human).

We also get to see something not often shown in RH stories with Catina (Elyse's best friend) having issues with Elyse being attracted to multiple guys, and acting on that attraction. This gives the story a little realistic feel, as I'm sure it's a judgement that any who live in a polyamorous relationship is fearful of. However, I'm glad that we get to see Elyse stand up for herself and now just cow-tow to her friends judgement.

I honestly cannot wait to see how things go down in Ares is Mine - and I am particularly interested to see how/if all the gods can work together. If not, will Elyse fall to the demise of X, or will she rise up and show just how powerful a woman can be!

The second book in the Gods and Monsters definitely saw an upgrade from the previous installment. There was more depth given to the characters and the relationships forming between them. Poseidon was engaging and relatable as the middle sibling between two powerful hotheads. I enjoy how, up to this point, Zeus is mentioned but not really seen. Hades and Ares were also explored more and their relationship to Elyse deepened and changed. Apollo came and went, but I'm starting to believe that the mysterious reason that Zeus will pull him from Earth if he finds out about his relationship with Elyse is the reason why he is 'offscreen' so to speak.
There wasn't as much battle in this one, with X sneaking in and out. There is an awesome moment of togetherness at one point which is hopefully a prelude to the future books and a true team battle. I also felt there was a little bit of repetition from the first book. Elyse's relationship with her human friends, Hades' rage and ranting at his brothers for eons old slights, and everyone's assumption that Hades has control over X are the main ones. While a little bit of circling back to main/old themes to create cohesion between the books is a good thing, I felt like there was a lot of time devoted to these things seemed more like filler than plot points.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I'm excited to see the dynamic between Elyse and her gods grow even more. With two more books to go, I'm sure I'm not going to be disappointed.

Before I begin, I would like to preface this review with the fact that I absolutely adored the first book. And I did. I loved the characters, and Elyse, I loved the sass, the courage and fierceness, but this book took the series in a totally different direction. It is much darker than I expected but I understand why it is. Elyse is really struggling with herself, her role, her feelings, the gods, all of it. She struggles the entire book and it is so frustrating to watch. She pushes everyone away from her, and is self destructive and so angry. She is unable to get out of her own way. I really feel for the gods in this book, especially Poseidon, Hades, and Ares. X is only getting more powerful and because of her decisions, Elyse isn't measuring up. I have no idea where the series is going to go from here, but I am really hoping that Elyse gets it together in the next book because this was hard for me to read. I literally spent the entire time so mad at her, and I could definitely empathize with the gods. Although I am frustrated, I also know that this book set the series up for something great in the next, and that out of conflict comes growth. I cannot wait to see Elyse finally own her power, herself, and her sexuality. The next book is going to be epic if this one is anything to go by!

Elise is torn between the bright love she is experiencing from Apollo as well as her lustful dreams of Hadesthen another god (Poseidon) appears trying to calm the chaos he believes is caused by his brother Hades. Apollo’s bright love is consuming, and the dark god Hades fills my dreams with lust and desire. Even though she's torn between them, the sea god, Poseidon, surfaces to calm the chaos, except I’m falling for him too. As Elise continues to train with Heracles while struggling to handle the abilities and power she has, sulky god Ares is there to encourage her to jump in and fight. She wonders if she is drowning in Poseidon's affection as she struggles to maintain a careful balance between her role fighting to protect from mythical powers and her humanity.

I loved this story and the descriptions of all the adventures she went on with Poseidon as part of trying to relax and enjoy life. I enjoyed their friendship and that t=he was trying really hard to support her and give her a safety valve in order to try and handle all the pressures she was under. Well written and very enjoyable,

Elyse is still determined to stop Death from stealing innocent souls. While she has enough trouble with Hades on Earth, Poseidon arrives to attempt to make some peace. But can he truly help? Elyse would love to just bask in Apollo's brilliant love, but Poseidon draws her as well. Yet even as her feelings grow, nothing will stop her from doing her duty. And that may be the final death of her.

Another great addition to Mila Young's Gods and Monsters reverse harem paranormal romance series. It's rich with mythology, and I love seeing all the gods in the modern world. Plus the monsters too! Death a.k.a. X seems unstoppable, but that isn't keeping Elyse from fighting to stop him. She's an admirable woman sticking to her duty. While Apollo is in hiding and can't sneak to see her as often as she wants, Poseidon steps up and offers a getaway from her harsh everyday existence. He's the calm, wise god, and it was so cool the fun she had with him. Lots going on with the subplots, and I'm just eating it all up. I can't wait for more from Mila Young!

Too much

There was just too much back and forth. I couldn't find enough redeeming qualities in this group. It was a back and forth of will they/won't they? All the gods getting butt hurt and the heroine running off making bad decisions then going back for more. For me, I need all the harem members to know about each other. That is not the case in the series. She isn't up front with any of them. Everything ends in fighting or sex. Hades is a mess. There isn't much time spent developing the characters. Everyone is whining and lamenting their lot in life and blaming each other for rand things. The story is simply a mess and quite superficial at best. No character depth. Side note, there should have been a trigger warning for what the heroine decided to do when confronted with X in her home. So since there didn't appear to be one, let me warn you. If you have a history with suicide or attempted suicide, skip right past it. The fact that it is made trivial is even worse than the fact there is no warning for readers. Do better.

I know I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: RH isn’t one of my favorite genres. However, as I really like this author’s writing style, I’ll pretty much read anything she writes. So, take of that what you will. This book is the second book in the series, and I do feel there is character growth. Plot wise, I love everything going on: Greek gods, a strong heroine (when she isn’t getting herself killed), and great writing that feels like I’m there. One thing that does bother me about this book is that they are all not working together but do almost everything separately: they get angry about each other, they whine separately about what’s going on with X, and they have “secret” relationships. If they would just get together and talk rationally, I think their relationships would progress faster, and they would vanquish X. C’mon, everyone! LOL! Don’t get me wrong: this is a great series if you like RH and hot sex! Highly recommend!

I couldn't even finish this one and certainly won't be reading the next one.
Elyse Lowe is a human. Zeus put magic into her bloodline and tasked her bloodline to fight for human kind. Each Lowe has three lives, after each death they get strong until the third death, after the death they are dead forever. Hades lives in Earth and a shadow of Hades is feeling havoc. Hades is adamant that he has no idea what it why his shadow man, X , is stealing human souls. Elyse has to take down X, which she has failed several times and even died once. That's the basics of the story. What I don't like. Apollo visits Earth is drawn to Elyse has ex with her and falls in love. Hades lives in Earth, is drawn to Elyse falls for them has sex. Same for Ares. Same for Poseidon. Oh my goodness! Does the girl have a magical vagina?!
It makes these powerful Greek Gods sound like pathetic horn dogs! This book is just not for me.

What happens?
Elyse is training to take down X, after recovering from her first death she is trying to navigate feelings for all the gods that she comes across, including Apollo, Hades and now Poseidon, including Ares who shes keeping at arms length for now.
Heracles is trying to train her with her new found power, and get her ready to face down X who can't seem to leave her alone either.
Final thoughts
This was OK. I'm curious about what is going to happen but I feel like each book, we'll see a death each book and that'l build up a tension for the final fight - I assume anyway.
This also isn't a typical reverse harem. Normally the guys are OK with being in that situation but the gods are not OK, aside from Apollo...

Would I continue on with the series?: Yes

Well things are getting interesting now Elyse has recovered from when Hades killed her and she back stronger. But X is also stronger after consuming more souls. Hades is still acting a dick running hot and cold around Elyse it’s all fight then well I’m sure your clever enough to say what happens next then he walks away. Poseidon takes Elyse on a chariot ride that helps calm her and yes he’s making progress on the heart front falling deeper and deeper for her. Ares has also come to help with the fight against X and as the God of War he’s looking for a fight but the other gods underestimate him and see him as a little childish. He tries to step in a fight Elyse’s fight which only annoys her. I will say that whilst I love the guys and their characters are well developed I get a little annoyed with Elyse when she’s down she’s down and even a little whiny but when that spit fire raises her head man is she awesome. I’m now well and truly invested in this series.

Man oh man! I picked this book up and didnt put it down until hours later when I finished it! I devoured it very fast! Not only was there so much suspense in the relationships, but the battle with X as well. Not to mention elyse's poor human side of her life. I'm glad Poseidon and Elyse hit it off. Although I wish Hades and Elyse would already! The suspense from their relationship is killing me in a good way. Hades deserves the love elyse has for him and he needs it. But I have my own theory on why they arent yet and I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Areas is a nice throw in there. Although he has made me mad for elyse too. The spin on Greek mythology has been amazing. It has changed some stuff but still kept to the roots. Mila did an amazing job and I CANNOT wait until the third book is completed!

I've read many mythology romances but never one as good as this series. Elyse a fierce, sassy, and determined to keep her family legacy going and fight until she can't anymore. She has trained hard to make sure she can face the monsters and keep everyone safe.

Elyse is focused on staying strong and facing her enemies head-on. Even if she has to die, she will die fighting, and Elyse pushes herself to make sure she is always ready. I love her stubbornness and sense of duty when defending those who need her. She is determined to fight X and anyone that gets in her way. She will slay all the monsters.

Poseidon calms her. He gives her the time to let go and enjoy their time together. He knows that she needs him to talk and let go of the frustration of her day and craziness in her life. He knows she is special and that she will be unstoppable once she finds her inner strength.

Already ordered book 3

I'm enjoying this series. Elyse is a great heroine, the harem are hot and I've pre-ordered book 3.

I didn't give it five stars because there are a couple of missing bits. There are four gods interested in her, each making his own move, and there are hints that some are aware of what's going on, but it's never discussed, they often suddenly have knowledge. On one hand it's all the gods have multiple partners and sex is frequent, on the other you have three men pining for lost loves for millennia and the gods fall in love hard and fast. The two ideas could have been meshed together a bit more smoothly.
I'm curious about X. He saves her right at the beginning and then he's gunning for her death. I can't wait to see what happens.

This is a joint review with book #1 & #2.

At first, I was loving this—it was giving me strong Lore (by Alexandra Bracken) vibes but with smut. I struggled once I hit book two. I still love the premise, but there were definitely some moments that made me cringe. Right now, the four gods we have don’t feel that different—it’s basically two nice, sweet gods and two that are kind of grumpy. They all have such similar inner monologues of like ‘wow, Elyse is the best’, ‘I’m completely in love with Elyse’, ‘How could Elyse treat me this way?’ and it’s getting repetitive and annoying. I enjoyed some of the other things I read from Mila Young later in the year much more than this one.

Elyse is one strong and stubborn warrior. She takes her destiny very seriously and goes full force to fight X. Her best friend doesn't agree with her love interests which then creates even more mental and emotional obstacles for her to over come. Elyse is falling harder and faster for these Gods than she ever expected to fall for anyone. These Gods feel the same way. They are not suppose to fall for a human/mortal. Lots of fighting, lots of loving, even a few hippocampus. Steam 10/10 * Sweet 10/10 * RH * Alt 1st POV * Cliffhanger

Wow I'm in love with these gods and who wouldn't be. It's written in all the characters point of views so you actually get to know each of them even better and you you get to see their side as well. I haven't ever read a book like this before, I am recommending this book to everyone. The scenery is amazing and there's so much emotionally going on as well as physically. There is nothing about this book that you won't like. So take it from me and give it a try you won't regret it and you won't put it down.
