Rate this book
Rachel Goodwin's past remains unclear. The traumatic kidnapping of Rachel and Rhonda, her sister, some twenty years before is the source of her pain, motivation, and guilt. Rhonda remains missing. Eluding authorities for decades, there is a faceless monster responsible for the pain that haunts Rachel's dreams.

With Detective Curt Walker absent, Rachel assumes the Crusaders leadership role. She draws upon her own experience to find the missing children. As the team's exploits take them close to Rachel's childhood home, she forces herself to confront the visible scars left behind, but after coming across an odd yet distinctive landmark tied to her abduction, repressed memories come flooding back in vivid detail. As the haunting memories unfold, Rachel is left with questions leaving her desperate for answers. Following a trail that has been cold for twenty-three years, the team uses Rachel's recollection to bring new life into the mystery.

Is the faceless monster still alive? Is he actively hunting prey? Will this pursuit of the past cost Rachel her own life, or that of another? With the help of the Crusaders, Rachel dives into her past, deep into the dark recesses of humanity, the place where light cannot reach.

Born and raised in Tallahassee and the main locale I choose to write about. I love to travel and hope to see as much of the world as I can. I enjoy a good beer, a good book and a good movie. I'm a cop, SWAT guy, former homicide dick, softball teammate, brother, son, husband to very beautiful and patient woman, but the hat I enjoy wearing the most, is father. Savannah (10), Connor (7) and Clayton (5) are my pride and joy.
I've seen the ugliest side of human nature and have struggled to crawl out of the abyss, but surrounding myself with good people has helped me see that good exists in this world. This realization is the fuel for my books.

Curt Walker and Rachel Goodwin were recruited by Alexis Underhill to become members of the vigilante group of Crusaders ... a group that locates and rescues missing children.

Curt's son was kidnapped and held 3 years. Rachel and her sister were taken more than 20 years ago ... she escaped, her sister did not. The two of them plus other team members draw upon their own personal experiences to reach into the darkness and find those kids that desperately need help.

While searching for another missing teenage girl, Rachel comes close to her childhood home, bringing back all those memories of her kidnapping and the terror she faced.

It's when the team finds a connection between this current girl is missing and the monster who took Rachel, that her repressed memories come flooding back.

Is the same man still taking young girls' lives? With the help of the Crusaders, Rachel dives into her past, deep into the dark recesses of humanity, the place where light cannot reach.

This is a solidly written story, fast-paced, action packed with credible and likeable characters. It's a story that had me riveted to each and every page. The ending had me biting my nails and then the tears fell. It's an emotional roller coaster for the children who fall into the wrong hands and survive. Most don't.

Many thanks to the author / Southern Yellow Pine Publishing for the digital copy of this insanely good book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Imagine the unthinkable. You and your younger sister are abducted by a stranger and held captive in his den of horrors. For days on end, you are violated and tortured and you must endure watching the same sadistic acts committed on your sister. An opportunity to escape presents itself but do you leave your sister to find help and hopefully return in time to save her? You choose to make a run for it but your sister and your captor are never found.

William Mark’s fourth book, Where Light Cannot Reach, picks up twenty-two years later. Rachel Goodwin has pulled herself out of darkness and joined an amazing team of talented people, Louis, Melinda and Beth. This team operates in the shadows without the normal checks and balances of bureaucracy. They search for those that are lost that law enforcement can’t find.

Curt Walker, another member of the team, also knows firsthand what it’s like to lose someone close. Curt’s son was abducted but found…….three years later.

As the team leaves Texas, where Rachel grew up, she sees a landmark that brings back a flood of memories. The team rallies around her and those memories begin to take focus. As they start digging for information the pieces start falling into place and Rachel’s kidnapper is identified. The trail leads them to Tampa, Florida.

When they arrive in Tampa, their investigation widens and additional victims are identified. The suspect, Harold Moye, has changed his name and created a new life but his evil cravings have continued. He is a serial killer and has just kidnapped another young victim.

The team befriends the lead detective assigned to the latest missing person case, a young high school girl named Layla. They reveal all that they have uncovered and convince the detective that Moye is responsible. But they must act quickly to save Layla. As events unfold, Rachel is forced to face her biggest fear, Harold Moye.

Where Light Cannot Reach grabs you from the beginning and is fast paced and well-written. The main characters are real and flawed; each with their own dark side and demons that haunt them. The police procedures and terminology are true to life which brings more credence to the story and how it unfolds. With each new piece of the puzzle uncovered I found myself immersed in the story, rooting for the team and wanting to know more.

The last few chapters are a wild ride filled with a myriad of emotions and surprises. It doesn’t disappoint.

William Mark has written another page-turner! In the second installment of the Crusaders of the Lost series, Where Light Cannot Reach, William Mark brings his readers on an adventure that delves into the mind of a serial killer. Curt Walker’s family has been reunited and together they must focus on his son’s recovery. With Curt unable to travel with the group, Rachel Goodwin has become the de facto leader of the Crusaders. Now Rachel has a chance to put the pieces of her past together and perhaps finally, learn what happened to her sister Rhonda. But to do so, Rachel must step into the darkness and face the man that abducted her and Rhonda 22 years before. Will Rachel find the answers she has been searching for? Will she be strong enough to face true evil? Will the Crusaders be able to save the life of another victim before it’s too late? William Mark’s fourth book is beautifully written and will keep you glued to the page. When you find yourself Where Light Cannot Reach, will you be strong enough to overcome the darkness?
