Will Travel for Trouble #5

Trouble at Snake and Clearwater

Rate this book
Minnie Crockwell, recreational vehicle enthusiast and traveler, receives a call from her niece, Tiffany, who has recently moved from Arizona to Washington to be with her boyfriend. Lonely in a new area, Tiffany asks Aunt Minnie to stop by for a visit.

Minnie, on the road in her RV just north in Spokane and hoping to head south to warmer climates for the winter, adjusts her travel plans and heads south to the small city of Clarkston, Washington, at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers.

Finding a wonderful RV site with a panoramic view of the Snake River, Minnie settles in for a short, relaxing visit with her niece. Binoculars in hand, she admires the scenery—from the golden hills across the river to the fishermen trolling in boats. The beauty of the scene is marred though, when one fisherman disappears from his boat right before her eyes.

Peregrine Ebenezer (Ben) Alvord, Minnie’s nineteenth-century ghost traveling companion, can do nothing to save the man from drowning. In fact, he can’t even find him. But search and rescue teams do finally locate poor Jim Olson, only to discover that he didn’t die by drowning.

Everyone liked Jim Olson, everyone except the person who killed him. Minnie vows to stay out of this murder investigation, but she feels responsible since she was the last person to see him alive. Besides the killer, that is.

Each story in the series can stand alone, but to avoid extensive repetition of the backstory, the books would be best read in order.

This time Minnie and Ben are staying for a few days in Clarkston, WA to visit with her niece Tiffany who just moved here from Arizona with her boyfriend Tad.
While enjoying the view from her campsite Minnie sees a man disappearing from a boat on the river....what looked like and accident is actually a murder. During Minnie's investigation Tad becomes a possible murder suspect....
Another fun read in this cute mystery series and I am already looking forward to my next visit with Minnie and Ben.

Minnie Crockwell series are fun cozy mysteries and I enjoy them.
Trouble at Snake and Clearwater is the setting for Minnie’s next adventure and while she parks her RV and is admiring the view of the lake when a man fishing from his boat vanishes from view. When it’s found out that the man was murdered Minnie knows she has to solve the case.

I listened to the audio version and my favorite narrator Michelle Babb does each characters personality with amazing uniqueness!

Minnie promised she wasn't going to get involved in any more murders but they truly seem to follow her wherever she goes. Unfortunately, she was the only one to see Jim go over the side of the boat and she just can't help herself. It's so fun listening to Minnie and Ben argue about her involvement.

Michelle Babb is awesome as always.

Trouble at Snake and Clearwater (Will Travel for Trouble #5) was a good read by Minnie Crockwell. Minnie is on her way to visit her niece Tiffany. Unfortunately at her next stop she sees a man disappear from his boat in front of her eyes. Since she was the last person to see him alive, she feels responsible for finding the killer. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by Minnie Crockwell.

Minnie receives a call from her niece, Tiffany, who has recently moved to Washington. Since Minnie is leaving Montana she decides to go visit Tiffany. Minnie finds a campground with a wonderful view of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. Shortly after arriving Minnie and her traveling companion and ghost, Ben, witness a man falling out of his boat and appears to drown. When the body is recovered, the cause of death was not drowning. Feeling the guilt of not being able to save the man Minnie is determined to find the killer.

This book is a quick read with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Although the mystery can be enjoyed as a stand-alone the backstories can better be understood by reading in order.

Trouble At Snake And Clearwater I love this series. They're the ADD equivalent of a cozy: short, sweet and to the point. Being an impatient ADD'er myself, I appreciate this.  I can rattle off 10 books I've read in the last year that would be greatly improved by this formula.

Anyway, the series follows Minnie as she travels in her RV, investigating a murder at each new stop (it's a cozy series, you have to allow for that or else you'd never get through one) with the help of her 18th century ghost friend Ben.
The plots are are pretty basic, and there isn't much character development, but with the stories so short, I don't see it as detrimental. You're only given enough details follow along with the story.  Even so, the plot is imaginative and the setting is always gorgeous. Without all the extra information and character development clogging things up, the story moves along quickly. And that's what I love: a book I can read in one sitting that is fun, quirky and enjoyable.

Entertaining

I like Minnie and the relationship she has with Ben her ghost companion. The places she goes are well described and the mystery is solved easily.
