A better read than the last book but still missing that vital something from the first book. Although the characters are better in this one, they still seem subdued. Her staging business is going well and now she has been asked to do the photo staging for a film star, in his planned comeback. However when he is found dead it is Noel, her son-in-law, who provides a clue to the killer. The killer was humming as he struck the fatal blow. Noel however is depressed, losing his job has made him unable to get up the energy to find another. When he is offered an administration job by his psychiatrist he takes it. Only to be given strict guidelines on what he can and cannot do. Whilst the police investigation into the film star's death throw up a lot of suspects (all who seemed to have a long time grudge) there is nothing really that they can pin on anyone. Meanwhile Amy's business has taken a nose dive. From being booked solid they have nothing. Can they find the killer with the meagre clues they hold?
Amy’s staging business has really taken off and her appointment book is almost full to capacity when she was asked to stage the photo shoot of a local celebrity. Danny Fontane made it big in the movies and most anyone would give and arm and a leg to attend his relaunch party and photo shoot and Amy was delighted that she was asked to do so. Not only will the publicity do her business good, she really wanted to meet the star in person. And she did, and she could say that she knew him for the rest of his life, because it was a very short one, ending soon after the photo shoot.
And the public are fickle – as soon as they heard about his murder, they cancelled their appointments with Amy which meant her business was back to teetering on the red, especially as she had to pay for the furniture that she had ordered for the stages – non refundable deposits! Which of course left Amy no choice but to make sure that the killer is caught, if only to save her business.
Another interesting and fun offering from N C Lewis. I do enjoy Noel’s part in this – I sympathise with his situation and had to cheer when he got it together. I wonder what he will be involved in next. Looking forward to that. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion
Amy King and her best friend Danielle are going to a re-launch party for Danny Fontane. Amy's staging business is hired for the pre-party photoshoot. Things didn't go as planned. Somebody has killed Danny. But who? And Why? What could have happened in Danny's lifetime that would make someone want to do him in? Come along with Amy and Nick as they investigate the case. This story is full of twists and turns that will make you want to keep reading. The story is well thought out and well written. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
I feel that I must confess that I'm not sure about the "window" aspect of the plot. I love the main characters of the Series. I enjoyed the plot with a great number of suspects. I didn't guess who the murderer was until Amy explained. I also feel compelled to admit that I was left feeling a bit flat at the end...I want to know if Nick gets to return to his original police unit. I want to know if Amy and Danielle are able to pull the business into solvency. I want to know if Ruby and Noel are able to patch their marriage. I want a tidy ending...
This third entry in the Capital of Texas series is another winner! A celebrity is killed at one of Amy’s business affairs and there are suspects aplenty. This one kept me guessing until the very end. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Amy is the owner of Studio Shoal Seven, her friend Danielle is the helper. they organize meetings, concerts and a day famous Danny Fontane asks Studio for help. what big opportunity fo Amy and Danielle! intriguing, fast to read and mistery, enjoy reading it!
Fast paced story in Austin, Texas. Hot every bit of the way. Whether outside in the humid heat, or after a suspect, this fast paced story has you funny t to the next event. I have read this series & the Ollie Stratford series. Great stories!
Just when I knew who the murderer was, a plot twist came along. The plot along with a bit of humor in descriptions and entertaining characters make this a winner.
I highly recommend all books by N.C. Lewis....she's a very talented author. If you like cozy mysteries without blood and gore, you will love her books.
Danny Fontaine is killers at an event staged by Amy and Danielle. When business cancellations start pour in, they decided die th we y h ave to so the murder.
Enjoyed Book 3 in the Amy King series. There were many possible killers, and I was surprised by the outcome. This is a fun quick read and I enjoy the interaction between Amy, Nick and their family…as well as the friendship with Danielle.
