Learn about the ancient goddess traditions and reconnect with your femininity, your natural cycles and your intuition.
Ancient civilizations once worshipped female deities and women were the leaders, counsellors and healers of their communities. Through the ages, the wisdom of the Goddess was then forgotten, and people around the world lost their connection to ancient feminine wisdom. In this practical guide, Tanishka, a leading teacher and author of women's wisdom traditions, introduces the main Goddess cultures and explains how their teachings and practices can empower and transform your life today.
You will learn:
* the history, philosophy and practices of ancient Goddess traditions * the seven Goddess archetypes and their corresponding chakras * the life stages of the feminine journey and how to transition through each one * rituals to reconnect with your inner goddess * insight and tools to understand and align with the cycles of nature
This book was previously published under the title Goddess Wisdom (Hay House Basics series).
One of the great things about the Hay House Basics series is that they're no-nonsense books that explain their subject in an easy to understand manner. They also tend to be pretty quick reads with layouts that allow you to absorb the information in an easy way.
Goddess Wisdom is another in the series and is a brilliant introduction to the sacred feminine, something that has been lost over recent centuries but which is slowly making a comeback. Women are trained, mostly subconsciously, that their bodies and the outward appearance are all that matters and that they are there for the pleasure of men. This book is a quick and easy guide to starting to reclaim and reawaken your feminine side, connecting to traditions that are far older than we can imagine. While some of the information may be familiar to those who have been following pagan paths for a while, this book presents it in a way that connects it to the female. Beautifully and passionately written and the perfect read for anyone who is interested in the sacred feminine and in reawakening all that we thought had been lost.
It opened me up to wanting to learn more. If you’re a novice to things like chakras, kundalini, and the moon phases I would recommend this book. Just know it touches on the topics and doesn’t go into too much detail. The book did inspire me to continue my studies. I was drawn to two areas in particular (moon phases and goddess energy) so I’ll move onto them next.
I liked some parts of this book but thought there were many things that didn't make sense, or resonated with me or didn't agree with.
I actually found that the author had a habit of making women feel 'special' but at the same time putting them down. Things like these make no sense to me and obviously don't resonate with me at all.
a really interesting little book with great information on many different topics. i really enjoyed the authors style and it felt nice to read and remember
3.5 I was a bit hesitant at first since I am not religious and do not believe in "the goddess", but it was easy to just see it as a history lesson and a guide in healing the divine feminine within you. I was actually impressed with the amount of research she has put into this. There are sources for most of her claims in the back of the book and she refers to archeologists, researchers, professors etc. It is a bit wicca-esque, esp at the end which kinda bugged me, but since I knew from the getgo that this would be a diety heavy book I decided to let it go. It has given me a lot of insights and has def helped me on my way to heal the broken relationship with the feminine energy in me. Allnall: a good book. The reason for the 3.5 and not 4 or 4.5 is because it is kinda narrow in terms of gender identities, non binary and trans people (not every woman bleed and not every person who bleed is a woman, people!) so it felt a bit excluding. She put a lot of enphasis on bleeding on the new moon and most women today dont do that anymore because of several reasons but mostly because we are not in tune with that part of nature and ourselves anymore, and some of us have irregular cycles and dont have 28 day cycles on the dot etc, and if you are feeling vulnerable regarding that this can be a unforgiving book to read.
Although my personal beliefs are more in line with the Buddhist perspective, I went into this book with an open mind to alternative teachings and enjoyed the narrative of the author. It’s always fascinating to get to widen your perspective to the beliefs of others and I am looking forward to continuing to learn about the divine feminine, goddess worshipping and matriarchal societies through more books as I’m particularly interested in the topic. If I understood correctly, this book is centred primarily on Pagan beliefs from a feminist perspective, which was very insightful and went into a lot of detail, although I did initially go into this book wondering whether it would be a general overview of different types of mythology and Hindu deities. Regardless of this, I enjoyed this book and reading from Tanishka’s own perspective.
My understanding of the Goddess path has been mostly self-taught from various sources that I’ve slowly pieced together. Reading Goddess Wisdom Made Easy felt like comfortable reassurance and validation of what I was learning on my own. I quickly devoured this book and wanted to give it to my younger self — the one who struggled to understand and felt crazy at so many points in life. If you’re already familiar with the Goddess teachings and practices, then this book will probably offer less. But if you’re exploring the Goddess for the first time or you’ve been learning on your own, this book might be for you.
This book takes you from curiosity to learning about all things divine feminine and Goddess path.
It features so many aspects you might think it's not that consistent, but it gives you a direction where to go and research more if feeling called. It's power resides in being a complete guide of understanding, putting everything into historical, astrological and mythological context.
It is the most complete and encompassing guide I found so far in sharing this perspective, taking you from the very historical beginning to the present time, sharing ways to integrate and leave your life honoring this path.
Must read for School’s boys and girls- to balance our male dominated culture of blood and war!
Great read. Easy to understand . Empowering and thought provoking. A must read for women of all ages especially useful if just getting into The Goddess culture.
I absolutely loved this book. I can already tell that much like Clarissa Pinkola Esté’s novel of Women Who Run With the Wolves that this is a book that I will pick up and read different chapters at different times in my life. It’s a captivating read, and it’s also an easy and fluid read.
A very informative book. The author states many of her opinions as if they are fact, though I agree with most, if not all, of them. A lot of what she teaches are basic tenets of witchcraft, though I don’t believe she used the word once in the book. A quick read.
Very interesting book if you are looking for more information on women sacred rituals and ancient wisdom. There are a few suggestions throughout the book to implement some of these into our modern daily life. The only thing that was disappointing for me was that the author only scratches the surface for some of the very interesting topics. She does mention a number of references at the end of the book. I was also expecting more historical facts on ancient women rituals.
I had wanted to read this book for ages, but I'm afraid it felt me feeling disappointed and I didn't finish it. It didn't grab me the way some books do and as a result I trudged through it rather than reading it freely. As I said I ended up not finishing it as I just couldn't be bothered. Tanishka knows her subject and I'm sure others will enjoy it enormously. I'm afraid I'm just not one of them.
As with all books of this nature some parts will resonate with you and some will not. The topic is so broad so the "made easy" part almost made me put it back but it was at Half Price Books so what the hell. I am looking for history, back story, roots, foundations. This did have some things that I want to look into more. But over all it seemed more about the author and her personal practices and values. Not particularly what I was looking for at this time.
A solid little introductory book. This was my first book on this subject and to my surprise it touched on various other holistic methods like, for example, shadow work and astrology. The book is an easy read, but I was finding myself wanting a bit more substance by the end. As a "made easy" series book, I think this was a solid entry and a good beginners guide to the subject to spark your interest and inspire you to seek out further resources.
I enjoyed this book. The author did her research and presented her work in a respectful, inclusive manner that didn't scream at its audience. Instead, her work was warm and inviting. I also liked how interactive this book is with exercises you can work and reflect on at the end of each chapter. She referenced her work and also included a lot of good resources. Well worth the read.
Best book read in a long time. History of the matriarchy in a very accessible way. Nice allround information on the subject. Perfect 1st read to get started in educating yourself. Definitely gonna read it again to soak up the information. I look up lots of things when talking with friends, would recommend it to everyone interested in the old ways.
I really enjoyed this book. 'Made easy' is certainly correct as I found it a light read and didn't seem to be re-reading paragraphs where I didn't understand much. It all flowed and resonated with me deeply. A great sense of care for the reader comes across and after reading this book I just wanted to read more similar. Surely a good sign!
Great introductory book to the Goddess and what working towards your Divine Feminine entails. Great for newbies, as it takes you through all kinds of rituals to try. Would definitely recommend and will read again, at a future phase.
