The government is trying to take down the Council...

But they get their asses handed to them.

One of the senators wanted to play hardball from the beginning but got outvoted.

Now, the head of the task force is killed.

Will they wise up and swallow their pride to get the best?

Lt. Hall is working more closely with Shay, and admits that the kidnapping and fights and losing a man has made it hard to sleep.

Will she be able to get revenge and close the gate to the fear that is creeping into her life?

Brownstone isn't going to play by anyone's rules, so he waits patiently while his team works on their barbeque skills. Will the government ask Brownstone to go to war for them? Will he, after what they did to Alison?

And how thoroughly Shay mystifies Brownstone as she tries to uncover what makes him tick.

A typical all action Brownstone story that is very easy to read. I just wish they wouldn’t always stop to have a conversation before getting on with the action. In this book there was even an occasion when Shay sneaked up behind somebody attacking Brownstone and instead of just killing them actually told them she was there. It also doesn’t help that much of the banter is repetitive ridiculous rubbish.
If possible I would have given 3.5 stars.

kindle unlimited, still continuity issues and making sense issues, listened to it TWICE on tablet thru voice program but still didn't understand it so read it regular way so NOT happy {legally blind} and STILL not getting it so read FOURTH time, and guess what still didn't make lot of sense but even legally blind was seeing/catching all sorts of typos, oh and for those who like to complain on goodreads or amazon that YOU liked book/s and didn't have any issues with it/them, good for you, but not your review and SOME of US did, including room mate who actually now only follows Brownstone, no Shay no Allison, he never followed any of the others while I am down to Leira {for now}, Midwest Witch, and complaining about lack of quality in the other 3. Reading it twice bad enough, but 4 times and still not getting it all, that's NOT me, been reading literally for years since 3 and when I can make sense of War and Peace but NOT book like this, NOT me, & ain't nobody got time for THAT.

Oh Wow!

This book had James, Shay, and everyone they know, going hell for leather, to stop the Council from setting out with their plan to take over the world - or so everyone assumes!

It took absolutely every single lead and trail, that everyone could follow, including throughout the Dark Web, and even deeper, to find out just where these six beings, both magical and not, both human, and not, had their Lairs.

Unfortunately, it also took far too many men and women dying, before their Government saw sense, and turned to the one man they should have contacted in the first place!

Namely, James Brownstone!

What Is it, about Governments, that they'd rather see the men and women who, through Duty, and Love of their Country, serve willingly, but will use them up, far too easily, while the rich sit and sip cocktails, bemoaning the cost in money, rather than that those young lives were cut far too short, far too soon, and so unecessarily?

This story truly made me think about this, and I'm not embarrassed that, at one point, it had me sobbing.

I don't know what it is about the hymn, Amazing Grace, that can bring me to tears, but some of it, is probably because it's been played at far, far, too many
funerals, usually of those wonderful young people who died so soon, because men in suits worship money, more than the sacrifices of those young heroes, who only want to protect and serve!

If there's one thing I've learned, since I picked up my first Michael Anderle book, and then all of those other wonderful authors who write for LMBPN, then it's a real respect for those who serve their Country.

My own Grandfather, who I never knew, as he died when my Mother was only 10, was a Regimental Sergeant Major in the British Army, and he instilled in his children that Duty - and also all the training in keeping what you own clean, and in its place, something even we grandchildren had instilled in us!

I still make my bed, with the sheets and blankets folded into Army corners! Lol

It makes me proud, although I never knew him that, in my veins, runs the blood of warriors and heroes!

Anyhoo, this book had me totally riveted, and I hated reaching the end but, fortunately, I looked at my reading list, and I can continue on to book number twelve: 'Karma is a Bitch'.

I'll be doing that, despite reading throughout the night and, once I've finished this next book, I'll catch you on the flip side, to tell you what I think about it!

4 Killing Is An Art, Not A Science Stars

Fatal Mistake is the eleventh book in The Unbelievable Mr. Brownstone series by Michael Anderle.

One has fallen. This was the first big loss since Trey and his gang joined Brownstone Agency. It is more surprising that everyone has survived to this point. I think the character, that will be missed, was easy enough to assume he might die soon. Any time there is some heart-to-heart mention of "I finally have a future" it's practically foreshadowing at this point, like saying "how hard could it be?", or "this is too easy". I wonder if anyone told Alison?

He Who Hunts is the final Council member that still lives. This mysterious red mist with tentacles that melt people's faces off, is definitely a completely different foe compared to all others they've faced before. That Eyes, another worrying and potential antagonist, mentioned that his true intentions were not in league with the Council's makes me question what else we can expect from him now that there is no reason for him to align himself with his fallen peers any longer.

Whispy Doom is showing its true intentions. While I think a decent amount of its intentions go towards making James stronger, and advancing him further through every trial and battle he faces. It is concerning that his most advanced and stronger abilities only come out when he is enraged. It doesn't appear as if the amulet is trying to corrupt James' mind, given that it actually saved him from a foreign mind attack. I wonder what more we will come to see from James as he and Whispy Doom fight further?

I wonder if, outside of He Who Hunts, we have anything else to worry about from the spies and contacts hidden in government throughout the world? They obviously are corrupt, and have a drive approaching any means neccessary. I wonder if without their evil leaders, they will continue to try draw more power to themselves?

The biggest challenge for Brownstone so far

Brownstone is a badass, there is no doubt about that and he has surrounded himself with a support group that adds to that by orders of magnitude. The Council who were responsible for kidnapping Shay during the theft of powerful artifacts is still at large and the Government needs help to bring them down. Who you gonna call? BROWNSTONE!!!

With a distrust of the government from his adoption of Allison still fresh James just wants to be left alone and get his barbecue on but when the government calls, and offers the gdp of a small country, Brownstone takes the case. This one shows a more tactical side of the big man. Instead of kicking in doors and letting the bodies fall where they may he shows some uniquely Shay like qualities in the planning of his operation. That being said he is still Brownstone so when it is time to cut loose he still has no problem feeding wispy doom’s appetite for destruction.

This is the first story where all of the main characters, Brownstone, Shay, Trey and the boys, Maria, Tyler, The Professor, Correck, and a special guest appearance from another fan favorite bring the pain to the bad guys I. A group effort.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Everyone's favorite troll gets a cameo in this episode of TUMB, so here's a shout-out to Yumf&ck! Cheeto prints. Rotf. I really have enjoyed seeing all the characters grow & change, and I think it's especially apparent with the ex-gang members that comprise the bulk of the Brownstone Agency. Shorty and Trey are the two leaders the rest follow, even when it looks like the end. No spoilers, but the end is bittersweet.
Lt. Hall AKA Maria gets to go on an extracurricular field trip with Shay to pay some jerks back for kidnapping and almost killing them. You'd think the bad guys would be more careful about stuff like that. Brownstone wiped out an entire gang for killing his dog, what did they think would happen over his woman? Random women often aren't.
If you liked the 1st part of the series, the books keep getting better as they go, so buy & read them all!
(Seriously, Cheeto prints?! Love that crazy troll!)

A best one.

Kindle Unlimited - Thank you.

There are things that I think Michael Anderle does as good as, if not better than, most anyone else. I found plenty of them all over this book. Thank you, Michael, for one delightfully special read. Enjoyed the bejeebers out of this one.

Too many "moments" to list, but have to say something about the props given to the people who defend us. I doubt anyone can read through the first council base attack and not come away with an understanding of just how much these people put on the line. Incredible piece of writing. Regardless of politics, anyone who suits up, loads up, and is willing to stand in harm's way for the rest of us, has got my respect and sincere thanks. God bless them really good!

Action-packed urban fantasy thrill ride

And action-packed urban fantasy thrill ride. Think dog the bounty Hunter stir in some Harry Potter Lord of the rings and a few other magical ingredients and you come up with a bounty Hunter that lives a short time in the future, when magic has returned to Earth. He takes down all the bad criminals including those with magical powers as well as demons and just anyone that is too much for the cops. A great cast of characters with many twisting storylines and plots. This is one series in this magical world with a number of other series written by multiple authors that interact with each other and have characters that crossover into each other‘s books. Check them all out will not be disappointed.

coach Whispy doom for the win

I was super sad toward the end of this book. I hate it when we lose characters. But this book was really, really good. Maria is dancing all over the line of ethics. But I like where she's at. Tyler's turning out to be a good guy, who would have figured. Can't wait to see where things go for James. His team is turning into a tactical nightmare for the bad guys. Whispy doom has some epic upgrades. In this book we get all hands on deck to handle a group called the council. Lots of people are killed, even one of my favorite side characters. That group had plans to infiltrate Earth, starting with America. They made a huge miscalculation starting with Los Angeles. On to the next book.

Almost all......

So amazing growth for every one of course the brownstone group as well as shay and a few others went after the “BAD”guys love how they did as well as the no oversight from the government these are just better and better books and can’t wait for more I’m going to the other books now( the ones that are not about Shay,Allison or James obviously) can’t wait to get the background on the magic people spoiler alert James can now donate directly to the orphanage and the church so he knows now he might be doing something good and just saying that dragon was mentioned again maybe shay might get to ride him? Once again, James Brownstone does the unbelievable and powers up even more. This time he isn’t the only one powering up though. Some side characters get more time in interesting, comical, or even sad ways.

Well written and fast paced I would call this an easy read. For being part of a fantasy (even urban fantasy) genre it has quite a bit of action. The build-up is a little too quick though, the action too fast paced. That maybe one of the only detractors from this book.

Overall, an excellent read for any action/fantasy junkie out there (myself included). So go ahead, give this series a try, you won’t be disappointed even 11 books (which is halfway through the series) in.

Love James Brownstone! And all the family he surrounds himself with. Great action, with a side of introspective growth. It reminds us to think of not just our personal wants, but that we are all part of the world. Keep it up, and thanks for all the fun.

Love James Brownstone! And all the family he chooses to surround himself with. Great action, with a side of introspective growth. So much delightful fun.

I read through this book in about a day. Pretty much straight action and we are starting to get a sense that Brownstone is going to get a bad ass upgrade shortly, likely in the next book, in this one you get a better sense for the power in his amulet. You also really, really don't want to threaten anything or anyone he cares about. One of the few series where both the lead man and the lead woman equally kick ass but in very different ways. I just love this series!

Fine Book, Fine Series

Brownstone is enjoying a bit of downtime. Sort of. He doesn't want danger to the threaten his town and people, so it's time to up the training level for his crew. The government is chipping away at the Council, but at great cost in lives. So Brownstone is brought in to end it. I like the action, snarky humor, and his relationship with Shay. I look forward to another book.

Not expecting this one

Wow, still unbelievable and still a fan of Mr. Brownstone. Just when I thought James, Shay and crew couldn’t get any better or top the last book they do! team Brownstone saves America if not the world. These books are so addicting I can’t put them down. I loved the ending although I can’t say I cried so hard for a fictional character in a long time. Great writing!! Happy reading!

Like Friends but with violence and adult content!

The loner we started this journey with has become quite the people person. He gathers all his friends and prepares for war. His amulet is giving upgrades and he is taking full advantage of them! I laughed, I gasped, I cried and I cussed. James Brownstone never lets me down, though Michael Anderle really pisses me off sometimes...but I get over it quickly. One of the best installments so far!!!!

New bad guys for Brownstone Agency to eliminate

This time, there were several aliens with magic and powerful artifacts. As are too many of the bad guys, their motivation was money and power. It was touch and go for too long, but with several more novels, I knew James would survive. Sadly, not all his men did. Another exciting, fast moving novel. Anderle's books are addictive and very hard to put down until the very end.

Redemption and second chances

Michael writes with an amazing intensity. I've read more books by him than I could say, and yet he still manages to bring something new: to evoke new emotions. Fatal Mistake is as hilarious as anything and yet also conveys friendship and loyalty, enmity and betrayal, love and hatred, and above all, hope.

I love this series. I want to know more about Wispy Doom and it's plan for Brownstone. I like how the relationship between James and Shay is changing, and how Tyler and Marie are developing some depth in their relationship. I wonder about Trey and enjoy his personal growth. There is a lot more going on than just bang, bang, shoot 'em up, although that's great too! Really enjoyed this book!

Emotional rollercoaster

Another Balls to the Walls epic showdown.

It was fun to watch some serious character growth from a couple of support characters. As well as the awkward friendship between Mariah and Shay grow into bad ass girl power.

Still not entirely sure I read the reasoning behind the dark council, or even really understood it; seemed so theoretical.

***** Spoiler Alert!!!!******

Why, Michael Anderle? First Leeroy, and now Shorty? That was just cruel and made me ugly cry! Seriously not cool dude! If I wasn't so invested in The Unbelievable Mr. Brownstone book series I would give you the finger and find another series to gobble up! 🙄

The best so far

It was so good, there was action because it was Brownstone. This book was so much more, whispy evolved, Shay and Maria really bonded. Heather and Peyton worked together. But this one has a deeper emotional connection (no spoilers). Read it and enjoy.

Another great book in the brownstone chronicles. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of he who hunts.
If you put out all those novels, how will I keep up?
I will still try though.
I look forward to more.
