This is a brilliant YA novel, but as it is the second in the series you really need to have read the first one before this as there is not much of a recap in this.

As this is the second book in the series it starts a lot faster than the first one and gets straight into the action, of which there is a lot and all of it great.

Once I started reading the story I didn't want to stop as I had to find out how each of the characters we met previously would develop in this book, and I wasn't disappointed.

This book does have a lot more blood than the first one, but apart from that it follows the same theme and is a brilliant follow-up, I can't wait for more

I really enjoyed the first book and this sequel did not disappoint. A great balance between action and narrative, and more spotlight on the vampires from the first book was something I'm glad the author did, as they really caught my interest in the first book. I also liked how much the characters developed and grew from book 1 . I look forward to reading the next instalment!

As much as I enjoyed the first book in this series, I find that this one was even more likable! I love the complexities of the antagonists and that everything is not black and white, so to speak. Lana Melyan has built a world filled with well-rounded characters and a compelling story that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I cannot wait for book three!

Another enjoyable YA fantasy novel subject to one substantial caveat. This is the sequel to the first Eternity Road book and while the author does take steps to fill the reader in on what happened in the first book, I don’t think that it would work that well as a stand-alone. You really need to have read the first book to properly understand the characters and where they are. That is not my issue with it however, though if you are planning to read it, I would strongly recommend that you read the series in order.

First, the good, the story moves along at a slightly brisker pace than the first one, there is plenty of action and the characters develop further. I was pleased that the author did not paint the characters as purely good and evil. The Hunters (powerful and immortal human beings) and the vampires to a certain extent are not confined to the best or the worst of human nature depending on which side they are on. The good guys sometimes question their own morality, seek revenge and can be cruel and the bad guys are not without compassion or empathy. The book is very readable, despite a few typographical errors, and a couple of new interesting characters were introduced. There is one new character that I’m looking forward to learning more about and to their involvement in the conclusion to the trilogy.

In the first book, the main protagonist (and the reader) was kept in the dark as to previous events and her place in the story. I predicted what the secret was quite early but I read a lot of books and watch a lot of films and have been doing so for a couple of decades longer than the target audience so that was not an issue or particularly unusual. I always get a certain satisfaction when and if I am proved correct. In the sequel, several characters (and the reader) are again kept in the dark, this time as to the nature of a ‘secret mission’ that two of the characters embark upon. Now, there are hints and indications throughout the book as to what the result of the ‘secret mission’ will be and I am fairly confident that I know what will happen but despite there being a partial reveal at the end of the book, the planned outcome is still not clear. Now, I appreciate that the second book in a trilogy is going to leave some unanswered questions and the story arc of the trilogy will not be complete but to me, the outcome of the ‘secret mission’ should belong at the end of the second book, part of the smaller story arc. The author did a great job of concluding the first book’s story arc and still setting up the sequel but I felt slightly dissatisfied with the conclusion of the sequel.
I suppose that being impatient to read the third book is not the harshest criticism but I will probably hold off from recommending this series to the young people I work with until the third book is published.

I really like this series. The 1st book was really good. I like the romances between characters. In this book there is New love and old love that still seems new! A similar journey but still new. Definitely got teary eyed reading some parts, and laughing out loud. I feel sorry for Alec. I've grown to like his character and I wish a happy ending for him! This is a really good series and it's definitely different. I've never read books about hunters. It's a nice change! I recieved this as an ARC from the author! Thank you very much!!

Book 2 of The Eternity Road series is phenomenal. Amanda and Eleanor are now one, but that comes with its own obstacles. The lives of those in their town are at risk. Someone they thought a friend is actually on the enemy side. Samson and Craig are off on a secret mission, while Riley leads the rest to find Frays vampires. The end leaves you craving to know what happens next.

Great plot build. I love the dynamics and changes in the character development. This story just keeps getting better!

The second instalment of this series did not disappoint. Eleanor has returned, only for Craig to leave on a secret mission.
Loss, lies and misdirection make this instalment a non stop read, will The Hunters find the sleeping vampires before it's too late? Just when you think things are finally working out... It's the end of that instalment; can't wait for the next one.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

The Return is the second book in the Eternity Road series by Lana Melyan. It's a good follow up to the first book in the series, the story is still told from multiple perspectives but while the first book split focus between the past and the present the Return puts its focus mostly on the present. Eleanor is getting reacquainted with her old life, Samson and Craig are on a mysterious journey and the other hunters are dealing with Fray's actions all the while also hunting for Fray's secret location.

In the first book, Eternity Road, I had a slight problem with the syntax, the words felt a little off, I don't know what it was but it felt a little wrong to me. Lana has corrected that problem in the Return, while there were a couple of hiccups mostly the story went smoothly. The problem that I had this time was with Eleanor, I understand reincarnation but it's almost like her Amanda side is an after-thought and the character is mostly pure Eleanor. Lana did try to address the situation but I think that some of Amanda's personality should have bled into the current Eleanor because it kind feels like Amanda is gone and it just gives me a weird feeling.

Overall The Return was a quick and interesting read, while I wasn't shocked by anything that happens I did enjoy reading the story, seeing what would happen next and putting together the clues that Lana left to figure out what was going on. I am really interested to see how Lana is going to wrap up the story in the final book. How will Fray and his minions be dealt with, what will happen with Kimberly, and what is going to happen after this big trip that Samson and Craig went on, I mean I have an idea but you never know. It all comes down to the final book, The Keeper of the Book.

I’ve been looking forward to reading and it did not disappoint. Now I have to wait for the next book to be written and can’t wait to find out where the journey takes us.

It’s easy to read, well-kept story-line that keeps you turning the pages. There are great, likable characters and we get to find out so much more about them most of them in this second instalment, especially about Riley and Ruben.

There is a great bond between the Hunters and they are happy to see Eleanor back to her old-self, although it takes some time getting used to having their powers back. However, not all is happy-go-lucky and the story goes a bit darker in this book. The vampires are causing havoc and death and the whole family is affected by their actions including the only human in the mix and Eleanor’s (Amanda’s) best friend Kimberley.

The hunt for the transitioning vampires is on and it doesn’t look good. Fray has century and half of experience in hiding from the other hunters and the advantage of knowing how they work and think. However, he does not have their bond and determination. This makes for an exciting game of cat and mouse and a very good read.

Not giving away too much but this book differs from the first quite a lot. The first book gave us a fab insight into the hunters’ history, where this second one focuses on the hunt and the now.

I am so glad I discovered the Eternity Road series just as the second instalment came to my notice. It has meant an uninterupted journey with these characters, some you love, some you love to hate. Now the Origin History of The Hunters and the Traitorious Fray is firmly embedded in the reading consciousness, we are free wheeling into the action in the present time and boy what a ride.

This book has a slightly darker tone and the blood is flowing copiously as the Vampires take a more central role in the plot. There are casualties on both sides and the story is taut. I am personally very glad Ms Melyan focused on rounding them out as the temptation is often to keep them one dimensional. here they have a dastardly depth.

Cleverly keeping the plan to thwart Fray under wraps for the most most part, the author is playing the long game and ensures the reader sticks around for part three! she can count me in the queue.

After reading and liking the first book, I was keen to find out what happened next. The second book takes up pretty much where the first leaves off. There is more investigation into the pasts of the various characters, and some decisions that were made a long time ago come to light which have ramifications for the characters today.
I felt this book moved at a slightly quicker pace than the first, which was good, and I began to like the characters more, especially Amanda. Her personality changed as she discovered more about her past, and what she can expect from her future. It is quite a tangled plot which is not necessarily a bad thing; there is lots of scope for the plot to develop in different ways, so it does not appear to be predictable.
Although many questions are answered, and more back story is revealed, there are new characters and questions to keep you going into the next installment.
An enjoyable read, but make sure you read book one first!

This story is getting better and better,i loved the first book but this one did not dissappoint at all,i got right back into the story of the Hunters.

This well kept story kept me turning the pages wanting to find out about the characters we met in the first book. This story was darker than the first book which kept me on the edge of my seat as it moved at a faster pace and i had to finish it in one go.

I love how all the characters have developed from the first book,Lana has built a world that is additive and imaginative and has me hooked, even though this is a YA paranormal it still has me gripped with the story of Hunters and Vampires.

This was told in two parts, the presant and flashback, but there are not too many in this second book like there was in the first, but you need to know certain things that happened in the past.

This is a unigue and imaginative story that kept me hooked and i need the next book to find out what happens next like yesterday.

I just love this series. I read the first book in the series a while back but I quickly got into the new book, the story just flowed seamlessly from one book to the next. I loved the characters and the dynamic between them and how they interact with each other. I am glad that there are no squabbles between the group itself, their main problem is getting rid of the Vampires. I can't wait to see what happens in the third book!!!
Great writing with great characters, I series that I would absolutely recommend to fantasy lovers.

What a great sequel! When the first book in a trilogy is so good, it’s a worry that the author won’t be able to keep it up but I thought this was better.
The book is open again and the Hunters have their powers back, but so does Fray. Amanda has her memory restored but nothing seems to have changed. It’s a cat and mouse game as the two sides try to gain the advantage.
I’m really enjoying this series and look forward to the concluding part.
My thanks to TBConFB for this copy.

This was an interesting read. It's pretty angsty and dramatic with a heavy supernatural bent, whereas the first was really more about the characters personal development. This would have REALLY appealed to me when I was in my teens, thankfully I can still enjoy it now! This an excellent story to not only appeal to the intended age group, but more mature audiences as well. This was a well written, well fleshed out universe that has enormous potential beyond a trilogy! Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this work!

Second book in the YA series and Lanas still got the magic touch! You need to read the first book before this one to have it make sense otherwise you’ll just be confused
This book has a faster starting pace we’ve lost some of the filling words (in a good way- you know the back story so your ready for the book to get going)
The characters have really developed in this book, you’re finding yourself impressed by things they do
Again I had all 3 books from the series ready to go that’s my top tip!!
Another excellent effort!

In the war between good versus evil, there are bound to be casualties on both sides. It’s inevitable. In The Eternity Road – The Return, Lana wrote several sections demonstrating each side’s strength and why they should be feared. Yeah, be prepared for some bloody crime scenes where vamps left a trail of carnage behind. The hunters did bag a few bloodsuckers as well but I do think Fray’s side proved more victorious than not.

In the final moments of The Eternity Road – The Return, we see a glimmer of hope that finally some answers to questions touched upon, but never clarified, will be unveiled. Most Hunters are in the dark. Fray wonders what Samson is up to and so did I.

For me, I don’t think enough time was spent on Samson and Craig’s secret mission. They seemed more like an afterthought to the storyline. However, based off the final paragraph, I know they will be front and center during part III.

For now, let me state I did enjoy reading the emotional ride of being a Hunter and loving one. Poor Ruben, Lana shown us the internal struggle he faced every day to do his job without casting fear in his love’s eyes. Luckily for him, he had nothing to worry about. As for Kimberly, unfortunately, her problems aren’t over yet.

Lana, I can’t wait to see what you have planned for them next.

Reviewer’s Note: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book is a good follow up to the first book in the series. It picks up where the first book left off: Eleanor waking up/finally returning. From there, the plot showcases the adjustment period for Eleanor to get reacquainted with her old life and all of the changes/events that happened in time that she was gone. Her, along with the other hunters in Green Hill, deal with Fray's actions and actively hunt for the transitioning vampires; meanwhile, Craig and Samson are on a "mysterious journey."

As I mentioned, this is a good follow up, and I did enjoy reading the continuing journey of the characters. However, there are points that I think are stronger in the first book and vice versa. For instance, the overall syntax read a lot smoother in The Return compared to the Eternity Road, which was likely enhanced by the fact that the plot was all in present-day. In Eternity Road, though, I believe the plot had a stronger rising action/climax. In fact, I am not exactly sure what would constitute as the climax in this novel, if going by the standard graph detailing a story's plot. This lackluster feeling may be due to the "mysterious journey" not feeling mysterious at all, but actually predictable; it is not revealed in this installment what Craig and Samson were traveling for, but I felt that the end goal was fairly obvious.

One major issue I have had with this series thus far is the Amanda and Eleanor dilemma. I knew throughout the first book that Amanda was Eleanor, or at least would become her due to reincarnation/past-life situation. While I recognize that Eleanor's memories would then come known to Amanda, I feel like there should be a better blend between their two lives. I think the author tried to address this slightly in this novel, but it still feels like only Eleanor is present. This ordeal is further escalated by the fact that Kimberly is the only main character to really miss Amanda/recognize that her personality feels completely gone. Therefore, I feel really torn in regards to this aspect; to an extent, it just feels like the character was killed off and someone else has inhabited her body.

With all that said, I am still interested in how the series will wrap up in the third book: how Fray and his minions will be dealt with; the relationship between Kimberly and Ruben; the "mysterious journey" Craig and Samson embarked on; the question of Alec's loyalty. I do still have several predictions for the plot, but maybe I'll be surprised!

It just gets better and better!

Eleanor and Craig are separated once again, this time by choice. Samson and Craig set off on a journey whose purpose is known only to them and Ruben. Meanwhile, the Hunters start anew their search for Fray’s stash of transitioning vampires.
And Alec, one who I have grown to dislike immensely, has a surprise up his sleeve for Eleanor and the remaining Hunters.
Kimberly is beginning to return to some semblance of who,she was before her whole world was torn apart. I have high hopes for her.
I can’t wait to see what is going to happen inside the temple in Egypt when Craig and Samson meet with the Higher Powers!

Being the second book there isn't much of a recap. It jump right in so you really do need to read the books in order. This book is well writen like the first and fast pace. There are no useless characters in this book. They all come together seamlessly and brilliantly. Am enjoying it so much, that I have the mixed feeling about
finishing the series. Yet I can't wait to read the conclusion.
