Anna Timperley is an Oklahoma author with a flair for the dark, the twisted, and the emotionally raw. Since publishing her debut novel in 2017 alongside author Lindsey Behee, she’s released four novels and a short story collection that blend psychological grit with haunting heart. Her stories flirt with the paranormal, dance with trauma, and always cut deep.
Her latest work, Quietly Losing It, Thanks for Noticing, is a sharp, soul-baring novel about grief, survival, and the messy magic of starting over. When she’s not writing, Anna can usually be found lurking in thrift stores, overanalyzing fictional deaths, and surviving on a questionable mix of dark red wine, Red Bull, good books, and trashy reality TV.
I'm really glad that I came across this outstanding collection of tales. The author has a great style of her own, the prose is a bit melancholic but sharp to the point. Hard to define a favourite here. The stories are all great and have an aspect that makes them memorable. The first story 'Desperation' with its incredible twist lures you into the imaginative world of the author. Then follows gem after gem. Sometimes it's supernatural, sometimes not. 'Devil in the Woods' was another spine tingling highlicht. The atmosphere in the stories is extremely well drawn, there are many uncanny and eerie moments while reading. No fillers, just killers. I can absolutely recommend reading those twisted tales. You will read the tales in a single sitting. Brilliant collection!
Twisted definitely lived up to it's title. The short stories within are psychological thrillers that start off very light and then take a turn into a darker place. If you're a fan of mystery, this one is for you.
