In a small Southern town, a father desperate to find his prodigal daughter will meet a man driven by an insatiable lust to kill and three cash-strapped old maids with something to hide. Welcome to Jubilee, Alabama, where death comes to stay for a spell.
“Brutal and honest, 'Jubilee' is depraved in the best possible ways. It’s every father’s nightmare.” -- Scott A. Johnson, author of 'Shy A Ghost Story'
“A thriller that simmers to a satisfying, explosive boil!” – Russell James, author of 'The Playing Card Killer'
It is understandable why ‘Jubilee’ was chosen as a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Alabama author Vic Kerry has constructed a fast-paced, tightly-woven plot that will thrill horror and fictional crime enthusiasts. And for those who aren’t reading with their GPS units on, be prepared for twists and turns that create amazing depth to the story. Much of this novel takes place in and around a small Alabama town named Jubilee. Three elderly sisters live in Jubilee where they run a bed and breakfast and where one of them also operates a failing candy store. It is into this sleepy town that a desperate father comes, searching for his daughter, hoping beyond hope he can find her before she gets into serious trouble or loses her life to the streets. She has sent him word that she and her boyfriend were there. In the meantime, there is a seriously deranged serial killer on the loose, a sociopath who is particularly violent in his attacks against both women and men. He, known as The Wasp, has also come to Jubilee for much more sinister, yet peculiar, reasons. Many others populate this novel, too, and all are thoughtfully constructed, true-to-life flawed human beings. Jubilee is a page-turner!
This book caught my attention from the very beginning and I wasn't able to put it down. I love how the chapters are set allowing each character to have their own story. You really get to follow the minds of all the characters and see what's in their heads and hearts. I honestly was kinda thinking the wasp and the father were the same person during the first few chapters, but then the story really got going and I was dying to know more. When the author introduced the three sisters it gave the book the perfect amount of "no, there's no way one of these sweet old ladies are killing these girls...unless..." and suspense every horror novel needs. The deeper you get into the book you really start to feel sympathy for the Wasp, the way he sees one of the sisters as his grandmother really hits the reader with the thought of how serial killers and other disturbed minds find inner peace within others. The ending had me teared up and blown away honestly (and by that I mean I was sobbing so hard for the father I had to take a minute), you could actually feel the pain and sadness the sister started feeling for the father after she realized the Wasp was no longer on her team. This book is absolutely perfect for the ones who find comfort and happiness in the pages of disturbing horror novels, if you're needing a good thriller with twist and turns just head to Jubilee!

A MUST for your TBR list! Fast-paced! Riveting! Exciting! Addictive! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. It was an artful melding of twisted psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense that kept me hooked the whole way!
I'm the author, so I'm going to review my own book. I did give it five stars because I think its a pretty good quick read. This is the book I get a lot of "you're a sick person" comments about. This is because at conventions and festivals, I always give away free peppermint candy when someone buys it.
I accidently marked this as one star. That was a mistake. Sorry, Vic. This is an excellent story. It has a lot of mystery, horror, and some good old fashion slashing for those who like it. It is by far Vic's best book that I've read.
