From one of the world’s most beloved Bible teachers comes a timely, compelling, and comprehensive biblical interpretation of Bible prophecy, the end times, and the apocalypse viewed through the lens of current world events. Many Christians struggle to understand the Book of Revelation. “The end times.” “The apocalypse.” “The day of judgment.” These terms are both fascinating and frightening – but what do they really mean? Drawing from decades of study, Dr. Jeremiah explains every key sign of the approaching apocalypse and what it means for you, including international, cultural, heavenly, tribulation, and end signs. With his engaging writing style and clear analysis of how current world events were foretold in the Bible, The Book of Signs is an encouraging guide to the Book of Revelation. In The Book of Signs , Dr. David Jeremiah offers answers to questions An epic and authoritative guide to biblical prophecy, The Book of Signs is a must-have resource for Christians seeking to navigate the uncertainties of the present and embrace God’s promises for the future with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.
Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
Buddy read with my daughter, Kristin. Very easy to read and understand, but very big 468 page e-book. The author drops a lot of Bible verses to reference, so take your time with this one. I took the time to read every single verse or chapter from my Bible and moseyed along about a chapter or two each morning.
The title might be just a little misleading. Most of the book is helping to understand what is going to happen "after" the Rapture and during the 7 year Tribulation before Christ comes to rule over the earth in peace for the 1000 years. No one, and I mean no one, knows or can predict exactly when Christ will return for his people, not even Satan. But, this book does point to at least one sign that is recorded in the Bible that we can look for during these end times.
Mainly, we should start to see a more centralized government forming among the European nation...kind of a rebirth of the Roman Empire. Daniel 7:23-24: “The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall...devour the whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces. The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom”. This has yet to happen. But, today, “this concentration of power in the European Union signals the beginning of this new world order” (p. 26). “Europe is more integrated today than at any time since the days of ancient Rome and is considered to be the second most powerful political force in our world” (p. 25). The stage is set in Europe for these ten leaders to step up all at one time under one global government, which has never been the case in the entire history of the Roman Empire. Definitely watch in the news what is going on with the European Union. I have read and heard about other warning signs as we near the end times, but they aren't listed here in this book.
From the ten rulers of this European coalition, one leader will step up to take control and become the final world dictator. He will be the Antichrist. But, this Antichrist will not be known until after the Rapture when the world is in complete chaos. He will destroy three of the ten leaders and promise peace to Israel, with signed contracts and all, but it will only last for the first three and a half years of the Tribulation. The world will actually embrace this man (Daniel 7:24-25).
The rest of the book is centered on the chronological events that will take place during the Tribulation, and believe you me, you don’t want to be here. It seems that things are really spinning out of control in this world. We are spiraling towards something. I do believe that something is the Coming of the Lord. Am I ready? I DON’T KNOW! I say I believe in Jesus and I trust in Him...but do I really? Things I’m seeing and hearing about today in this world really scare me (Is that lack of faith?), and here we are just getting a tiny little sample of what’s to come during the Tribulation. I feel so weak.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I would probably rate it 3.5 stars. It held my interest throughout as I read it (even though it ended up not quite being what I thought it would be or how I thought it might go). It is an interesting look on the author's interpretation of the "End Times" as discussed in and throughout the Bible. There were some points he made throughout that I did not fully agree with, but that is okay. I do fully agree with the basic gist of the book, and that is that we Christians need to be living each day of our lives in such a way that it points people to Jesus AND we need to be ready for His imminent return, as we do not know the day or the hour of His return.
I do not fully agree with the Rapture occurring pre-Trib or mid-Trib, and the author seems to be a pre-Tribber, so those parts of the book I definitely did not necessarily agree with. I will say this, though - he did make some compelling arguments, but he still did not completely convince me of a pre-Tribe removal of the church. I do not see it happening, but it if does, I will not complain.
I thought the 'story' about how Joy to the World is not a Christmas Carol, about how it celebrates the return of Jesus and His subsequent reign (364 - 366) to be quite eye-opening and fascinating. I had no idea this was the case! However, reading over the lyrics and pondering them, it does make more sense that the carol is not about Jesus' birth as much as it is about His subsequent return.
I am glad that I read the book. He made some interesting points I had not previously considered. I also thought it was interesting to read the numerous quotes from other author (some of whom I had never heard of), as it made me interested in reading further what these other authors had to say about the End Times. The author is correct, though, when he points out that not too many people seem worried or concerned about 'the End Times" in this day and age. I suspect part of that might have to do with the mid-1970s until 2000, when there were numerous (failed) predictions about Jesus' "imminent return" by the year 2000 or how the dawn of the new millennium was going to herald in a new Dark Age or the seven years before 2000 would be the Great Tribulation or such. I would propose that the message of "being ready for His return any day!" (a la the story of Shackleton's crew and how they were ready to leave the moment Shackleton returned for them, even though there was no guarantee he survived or would return in time to save them [360 - 363]) got lost in the excitement and expected anticipation of "His Return" and people forgot our being "ready" should be a daily lifestyle and not 'just' a change when we think it's just around the corner. I know I want my life to be 'different,' to matter, to make a difference, for His kingdom, and this book helped remind me of what is truly important. I am glad that I read this book. May I never forget the ultimate message behind what he wrote on the pages.
If you have trouble understanding prophecy, this is the book to read. Dr. David Jeremiah has the gift of making complex issues crystal clear. In his book, he discusses how biblical references pointing to the Apocalypse are playing out in the world today.
The book opens with a look at current events as they are unfolding in Israel, Europe, Russia, Babylon and America. I particularly like the way he introduces each chapter throughout the book with a relevant example. For instance, he describes how Vladimir Putlin seized possession of the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine as an introduction to events in Russia.
Jeremiah then goes on to write about cultural signs we see around us with chapters such as materialism, immorality, radical Islam and apathy. He offers eye-opening statistics. Did you know 255 Christian are killed each month in our modern world?
Throughout the book, he tucks appropriate and interesting quotes. For instance in a chapter on heaven’s rewards, he includes a quote by M. R. Kopmeyer that includes a quote by Elbert Hubbard: “Self-discipline is the ability to do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.” I like that definition.
Besides international and cultural signs, Jeremiah writes about heavenly signs, tribulation signs and end signs, which include Christ’s return, the Millenium, the great white throne judgment, the new heaven and new earth and the holy city. He clarifies how these events will occur at the end of the age, leaving the reader with a clear picture of what will happen when.
Chapters are short, and easy to read. Notes and an index complete this book, which should be a must-read for every Christian. Jeremiah’s ministry, Turning Point, also offers study guides, a DVD series of his sermons on these signs, a set of audio recordings and other resources on this topic.
This is an excellent book by Dr. Jeremiah about the end times. He goes into the prophesies that God gives us in the Bible and explains them in such wonderful detail but in a way that is totally understandable.
This is an extensive volume that made clear so many of the speculations we have about the end times. He also brings current events into focus and helps us to understand how they point to God's prophesies. I found this very interesting as I enjoy having current events - political, weather, and more - brought more into focus from a Biblical point of view.
He explains the rapture, resurrection, and what will happen when Jesus returns. He explains how different countries will play a part in the end times and I really learned a lot. He shares the signs of what to look for in Jesus' returning and what signs have already taken place.
I enjoyed this book so much. It was really hard to even put down and I highlighted extensively throughout the book. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand the prophetic parts of the Bible that refer to the coming of the Lord. I give this book 5 stars.
*This book was provided to me by BookLookBloggers. I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.
Fascinating read! He who has eyes does not always see and today we are surrounded by such individuals who are struggling or are blinded to see the truth. Look up and look around and one cannot deny the signs. This is a must-read, especially if you want to know what is to come and have a better understanding of prophecy. One doesn't have to read the book starting at chapter 1. The book is broken down into 5 sections and the reader can start anywhere. Part 1: International Signs Part 2: Cultural Signs Part 3: Heavenly signs Part 4: Tribulation Signs Part 5: End Signs.
End times discussions are not as prevalent as they once were. we haven't seemed as interested, but this doesn't mean we shouldn't be aware of the signs that Jesus is coming back soon. Dr. David Jeremiah has tackled this subject many times over the years. With "The Book of Signs", he has once again chosen to approach the topic with wisdom, depth and compassion. His purpose and desire for writing "The Book of Signs" is to convince believers and non-believers that a time is coming, sooner than we think, when God will fulfill all of the prophecies foretold in Scripture.
Dr. Jeremiah gives a thorough explanation of everything we are to be looking for in our time and to be prepared so that when it happens, we will not be taken by surprise. Knowing the signs should not make us fearful, but it should make us yearn even more for Jesus' coming and do all we can to lead others in the path of righteousness and point them to Christ--the only way to God and salvation.
This must-have resource will bring you peace in the present and promise for the future. It will help you explain to others what God has said through the prophets.

David Jeremiah's Comprehensive Tour of the Second Coming
This book is divided into five sections beginning with International Signs. This part is a tour of the major nations that play a significant role in the end times. Part 2 is Cultural Signs which details the settings of the world into which the end times enter. The third part is Heavenly Signs where the descriptions of things in heaven are discussed. Next in Part 4, we talk about the Tribulation Signs which take place during the last seven years before the second coming. The last section is Part 5: End Signs where the millennium, the new heaven and earth, and surrounding events are discussed.
Though everybody has different opinions about end time events and I don't think anyone really has it quite right, this is a delight to read and certainly a worthwhile addition to myriad of views on the last days.
When I saw so many people speaking highly of this book, I decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed by the many interpretations that had absolutely no scriptural backing. He states, the Millennium will be a time of prolonged lifespans (no biblical proof). He claims there are two judgments and states the Great White Throne Judgment in Revelation 20 is only for the spiritually dead. For this assertion he uses Matthew 7:22-23, but totally omits Matthew 25:31-46, which clearly shows judgment of both the righteous and unrighteous. Compare this book to the Final Message: Understanding the book of Revelation. It will definitely separate fact from fiction with plenty of biblical support.
If I could give this book a zero rating, I would. I found it to be absolutely revolting, based in delusions and bigotry.
When I read the chapters that spoke so brazenly of things that the author knows nothing about, it made me question every other thing this “Dr.” wrote in their book. If you can’t even get the basics about different religions correct, how am I to believe any of your interpretations about any of the texts? The objective facts about EVERYTHING are incorrect, so why would I believe anything that you said that was completely subjective? Nothing is based in truth. It is based on misinformation and ignorance.
Not only are the facts that the author uses to base all their arguments on incorrect, but the author also decides to also comment on other religions, that they clearly know nothing about. They have not spent a minute, studying any of the other texts that they are commenting on. There are no references to the texts, only propaganda. The author clearly has not spent any time or taken any effort to learn about any other religion before making sweeping comments about them that are completely inaccurate.
I can say, with confidence, there are better books on this topic out there people.
Captivating and well-written! Most important for non-Christians so when you start seeing these events unfold, you’ll know what to expect and more importantly, what to do. I read this on Kindle but have just ordered the physical book so I can reference areas of it.
Update: As my faith has evolved, I’m not so sure about many of the interpretations in this book. I’ve learned that they conflict with catholic teaching which I hold to be true above all else. For example, the catholic faith does not believe in the rapture. The Catholic Church interprets the Bible passages differently than the author of this book. Still, I don’t regret reading this book but keep in mind it’s just one interpretation. If you want to learn more about the end times from a catholic perspective I highly recommend you go to www.countdowntothekingdom.com and read the various articles and watch the videos there. God bless!!
In his book “The Signs of the Times: 31 Undeniable Prophecies of the Apocalypse” Dr. Jeremiah provides a look at biblical prophecy with an emphasis on future events like the Rapture and the 7 year Tribulation period. Although according to the Bible no one except God can predict when Christ will return for the Church (the Rapture) this book provides a look at the catalysts like immorality, the rise of radical Islam and apathy that signal when its near.
Well-written and backed by biblical scripture, Dr. Jeremiah in his easy flowing discussion style and using short chapters provides an excellent resource that you won’t put down until finished. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this book to Christians and others interested in the Apocalypse.
To be fair, I didn’t finish this book but only read to around the midpoint. I was very surprised to find a lot of the “interpretation” very vague. There is a ton of scripture regarding timelines and how things will play out with countries referenced in the Word, but very little direct interpretation of who the modern day countries are. I also found some of the few vague references to contradict the majority of other end times scholars. While he did bring scripture together to give a picture as to what scripture says about prophecy, I think readers today are seeking clarification and interpretation. I appreciate David Jeremiahs teachings, but for end time teachings, will seek out other authors who are clear in their interpretation.
Studying prophecy can be hard, but has always been one of my main interests since my teen year. Dr. Jeremiah provides chapter by chapter biblical teachings on the end times.
A lot of it, is material I've read before from other bible teachers, but is a good resource side by side with the Bible.
Overall 4 stars on staying biblical, despite some minor disagreements or just interpretations, wordsmithing. Would have liked Dr. Jeremiah expand on some of the signs or principles, though I'm sure there are other books/studies on those, and in general does not defeat the purpose of this book.
This is an amazing book, as Dr. Jeremiah’s books usually are. David Jeremiah takes what can be a very difficult subject and boils it down into 31 chapters about the end of days and makes is clearly understandable and very readable to the average person. No prior knowledge of eschatology is needed to understand what the Bible has to say about the end of days and what will be the signs that it is approaching...and quickly. I highly recommend this book for every lay person who wants to better understand what God has revealed to us in His word about what the last days of this present world will be like and what will be the signs of the second coming of Jesus Christ to the world.
- An excellent choice for faith based readers as this book gets to the heart of the questions most people want to know. Perfect for older people because young kids might not be so excited or eager to read about these end times and some things might scare them. Christians will might want to pick up a copy and get ready to really discover information that can change minds.
I was disappointed because I found the book repeated, sometimes verbatim, what some of his previous books said. I also was confused at times, and found myself thinking he contradicted himself. He is the expert, but I had some difficulties with certain sections.
Also, I was looking for more from the book. The subtitle is "31 Undeniable prophecies of the Apocalypse," but I was disappointed in the signs themselves.
David Jeremiah has written a very thorough and very readable book on the end times. I bookmarked so many passages that I’m getting ready to go through the book a second time. Every statement is backed up by scripture, so unless specifically stated, there is no speculation. I highly recommend this book to everyone who is seeking to learn about the Last Days.
I know there are many beliefs and opinions out there on the return of the Lord, but I know He is coming! This was a very in depth, but good book on the end times. But I would consider myself in the same camp as my Aunt Tricia, who always claimed to be a pan-millennialist - it’ll all “pan” out in the end! 🤣🙌
Digging into the book of Revelations, and verse throughout the Bible, David Jeremiah shares sound biblical teaching here. Awesome book, all should read! ... ... "I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath." - Acts 2:18-19
Bible prophecy has always been hard for me to understand but this book was so informative and easy to understand. The way our world is headed, this book was definitely relative to the times and eye opening. Believers need to be ready because the time is near. Such a great book!
This is not a book of signs, it's a book of Christian things–some of which happen to connect to the book of Revelation. Only some of what the author says is directly based on scripture, and other parts are either their opinion or another author's opinion. Did not keep reading.
marvelous book that I wish everyone would read ... subjects in here that so many want to ignore much to their own detriment - YOU seriously need to open your heart and read this book ...
It's an easy read. I liked the beginning half best as the last half is a recap of the book of Revelation which was just a regurgitation of other stuff I'd read.
David Jeremiah is a prolific speaker and writer. He has written extensively on prophesy and the book of Revelation, as well as many other subjects. This book is a sort of summary of major prophesies in the Bible and is divided into five parts. The first two parts are mostly about the current state of spirituality in the world and the final three parts are future prophesies and an expected timeline for these events.
I liked the way Jeremiah has tackled his subject matter. He probably could have written a commentary on Revelation with this material. Instead, he has isolated all the major events and spent a chapter discussing each one, using other biblical books to emphasises his points. Although this approach occasionally led to repetition, I found it a clearer way of understanding the prophesies.
The Book of Signs is quite a long book but Jeremiah writes in a down to earth and easy to understand way so I didn’t feel bogged down. The chapters were long enough to get a good grasp of his main points, but not so long that you became lost in the details. He also included some personal application so it wasn’t just information. Knowing prophecy should make a difference in the way we live.
Some of the highlights for me were understanding the significance of Israel being back in her own land and how this happened in “one day.” I enjoyed Jeremiah’s understanding of rewards, his thoughts on heaven and his beliefs regarding the sequence of end-time events.
Overall a helpful understanding of biblical prophecy.
Content was exhaustive and broad in scope. My problem was with the VERY misleading title. This book is NOT “{31 undeniable prophecies of the apocalypse” at all. At most there were probably 8 prophecies covered and the rest were just filler of end times related topics. For example there are chapters on “America” “Materialism” “Spiritual Warfare” “Apathy” “Russia”, etc…. I even completed the in depth study guide along with reading the book. I was constantly looking for the prophecies that were leading us to the end of the world as we know it, and sadly came up very short. Authors using erroneous titles are just as bad a fear mongoring YouTubers who use misleading titles as click bait.
