A designated environment specially designed and coded for the future of human sustainability and procreation.
“John” is the next to wake up in containment.
A place that won’t let him die or escape his night terrors.
A place he has no choice but to call home.
“Jane” awakens in her own nightmare. With every life comes death, and she’s the unwitting victim of every decision “John” makes.
Imprisoned in her own dome, her fight for life comes to an end every day. Agreeing to the requests of the computerized voice and having no other choice but to survive, “Jane” lives and dies as she waits for her decision to be accepted.
100 days is the deadline for humanity's last chance at survival.
And there are only four days remaining…
Will John and Jane survive the biodome? Will you dare to enter and discover its secrets?
A love for reading and writing is a new concept for Virginia. Before the Twilight rave and a need to know the ending after Eclipse was released in theaters, Virginia preferred to watch the movie or convince a friend to read the book for her.
Needing to know the story of a random homeless man that she encountered on a freeway exit ramp, was the only reason she began writing in the first place. Soulless Nights spawned from the unknown story and a dare from her friends.
She has had the pleasure of working with some of her favorite authors. Street teams and beta reading were what led her to the world of writing.
She has released Soulless Nights, Vindicate, Expiate, Cessation, Always Never, Secondary Silence, Secondary Disaster, The Xmas Effect, The Blood of Abigail, Correcting Code 1.1, and the Bad Words Made Funny Series!
She recently released Night Tales Vol 1. Wich consist of 3 short stories featured in anthologies.
She also has co-written 3 books: Seraphines (Julia Clare) ,Bound by an Echo (Julia Clare) & Kepler: Humanity's Ark ( Kyle Perkins )
She is currently working on Correcting Code novella's
As always Miss Johnson does not dissapoint. Great sci-fi with a cute cameo ;) Also a bit of horror mixed in wich proves once again Virginia can do it all! That cliffhanger though.... I need the rest of this ASAP!
I keep starting to type what I felt and thought about this book and I find myself erasing and trying again because I don't think there are word that portray how I feel about this book. This book will get inside your head and leave its twisted mark on your soul. Great job on the authors part to get inside your head with this new Sci-Fi series. I do hate cliffhangers and need book 2 NOW. I recommend this book
This book is book 1 of a brand new series, a horror/thriller with a sci-fi element introduced. The characters are great and the storyline pulls you in from the first page. The twists, turns and revelations will keep you captive. Cannot wait to read bk 2!!
I have been reading Ms Johnson's for some time now and I'm glad and excited to see that she has unlocked the shackles that bound her and delved into the horrors and abhorrent acts the many authors shy away from. Sure Containment may not be for everyone but I thrived on it. This Thriller has many sneaky aspects that I just didn't see coming and at one point I felt like I was on a roller coaster, getting pulled slowly to the top and I was just waiting for the free fall.
This time wasn't about dying to end the present. This time was about dying to protect the future
Thanks Ms Johnson for taking a chance and giving us a true horror/thriller story that will surely give me nightmares.
Virginia L. Johnson is an all-genre author whose latest series is categorized as sci-fi, but its storyline can fall under several genres, it has no limits. There are so many fascinating elements in this novella and each one kept me hooked until the very last page. I can honestly say, Author Johnson's stories never disappoint and are instantly placed on the re-read shelf. I really enjoyed Containment and look forward to continuing the journey with Book 2.
Okay I'm not a fan of this genre but as I've stated before if my fave authors choose to write in any genre, I'm reading it. I'm soooo glad I did. At first I honestly was confused but then it all starts to make sense. And then... well, you'll see.
Omg Ginny Totally Nailed Sci/fi! I for one have never really been a big sci fi fan until now I cannot wait to see what happens with John and Jane this book is an Absolute must Read!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have read many of this author’s books. This was the first sci-fi one and I really liked it. It’s kinda of like a bloody dystopian horror story. Lots of blood and a bit of Groundhog’s Day happing. But now I’m interested. I wanna know what is gonna happen next. I don’t wanna spoil it because it’s a super short quick read but if you like bloody, dystopian Sci-fi then this is for you. I’m sure if your a huge Science Fiction fan you’re not gonna like this too much. While I’m a SCi-FI fan, I’m also a huge fan of this author’s stories so it’s definitely a must read for me!
I am absolutely floored!! The hardest parts about writing this review are keeping my language clean and not giving away spoilers. I actually made my husband jump when I started yelling at my tablet at certain spots, he was sitting right beside me, and the language that followed said outburst, well, let's just say a sailor would have blushed. Well deserved of a 5 star rating and could actually be given more. It's fast paced, flows so well, and the characters are well done. I can't wait for book 2. Well done, Ms. Johnson.
What can I say about this book and not give away any spoilers? Well I can say this and that is it’s a awesome book but it’s short and really intense, it pulls you in and you can’t escape until you get to the end, which waiting for you at the end is a cliffy. Lol This is the first book that I’ve ever read by Virginia Johnson and I gotta say that I absolutely love her writing style and I most definitely look forward to reading more of her work. So yes I do recommend this book because I thought it was really good and I think everyone should read it.
As I finished that book my mind is still kinda in shock. It's honestly my first sci-fyi and it's definite not what I expected and that's a good thing. It was twisty from the beginning and kept your mind reeling all the way through to the end. This is again a short story. However, if you've never read this genre this is the one to take a chance on. Definitely is an original and can't wait to see what happens as the story will unfolds before my eyes.
I really love dystopian/sci-fi, and Virginia Johnson's books are always very interesting, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. First of all, the premise is really wonderful. There are an unknown number of subjects in some sort of biodome that appears to be run entirely by AI. They wake every day with an objective/choice and have the entire place to themselves. There are different environments within the biodome, and everything appears to be self sustaining, but the subjects can presumably be as involved as they want with taking care of plants and animals. It is mentioned a few times that procreation is one of the goals of this setup, although the subjects in the book do not encounter each other within the biodome (so maybe it's based on insemination?). They are humanity's last hope, and the Kepler project (which is written about in another great book by Ms. Johnson) is mentioned to have failed. There were a few things that I was very confused about that made it difficult to fully appreciate this book. The torture scenes specifically were confusing. This book has such a promising setup, and the worldbuilding is excellent. I wonder if I got an unedited copy though. If some of the basic story elements were a little clearer, I would have enjoyed it more. I will probably still read book two because I am hoping some of my questions will be answered.
Muhaha. The genre of Sci-fi where anything goes right? Well damn. Virginia and here twisted but brilliant mind does it again. If you love a dark edge then you must read this. Now I need book two because I am loving the fact Virginia has gone out of her comfort zone for this and I NEED to see where she rolls with this.
I got caught up in the story so quickly that when it was over I found myself scrambling to come back to reality! I loved the fast paced each flow! I need to know what happens next!!!
sorry i had a really hard time following this book! two people who are stuck in a bio dome for days . living and dying each day. who will survive? read to find out.
