Murder, Mayhem… and a Cat-astrophic Infestation!

When the Most Fascinating Man in the World is murdered in the Most Fascinating Way, reporter Odelia Poole finds herself tangled in a Most Baffling Mystery. Teaming up with her boyfriend, Detective Chase Kingsley, she soon discovers that more “Interesting” Men are crawling out of the woodwork—each with a motive for murder. But which one is the killer? And will they strike again?

Meanwhile, Odelia’s feline sleuths have their own furry fiasco to deal with. A horrifying flea infestation lands them at Vena the Vet’s office—the most dreaded place on Earth. As if that’s not enough, rumors are flying that Chase might be moving in—and where there’s a man, there are bound to be babies! Which, as Max and the gang know, means the end of their cushy lives.

With murder suspects multiplying, a cat invasion shaking things up, Grandma Muffin on a rampage, and the baby menace looming, the feline detectives must keep their whiskers sharp to help Odelia catch a killer—before things spiral completely out of control.

Purrfectly witty, delightfully cozy, and packed with feline-fueled fun, Purrfectly Interesting is another can’t-miss installment in The Mysteries of Max!

Yep. The way the author happily skewers pop culture icons is definitely one of my favorite things about this series. Of course, that’s not taking into account talking, crime-solving cats and the poor beleaguered humans who look after them. I am thoroughly in love with these characters and the unlikely mysteries they keep finding themselves involved in. Bring on the next victim!

More Fun With Max and Company

How I love this series! If you love cats and mysteries and have a vivid imagination, this is the series for you! Each book is a quick, easy read and is narrated by Max, an orange tabby who adopted his human, Odile. She is a newspaper reporter in a small town on the California coast. Max and his best cat friends Dooley, Brutus and Brutus' girlfriend Harriet, solve various mysteries in this wonderful cozy series.. Odile's uncle is chief of the local police department and her boyfriend, Chase, is a police detective who, with Max's help, solve various and sundry crimes. Odile, Max and friends understand and communicate with each other, and Chase is constantly amazed that Odile's "hunches" (supplied by Max, of course) are always correct and solve the case. In this installment, the holder of The World's Most Exciting Man title is blown up by a bottle of beer laced with nitroglycerin. Max and company are somewhat distracted because fleas have infested all the animals in their small town. Nonetheless, Max and pals manage to solve the case while coping with flea collars. Meanwhile, Odile and Chase decide to live together, but this is delayed when Odile's Grandma Muffin (Dooley's pet) moves in with Odile after a spat with the police chief and his wife. All this drama fails to deter Max, of course, who deduces the real murderer just in time to prevent a second murder. As always, the book ends with happiness for all.

The prose is enticing, the plots interesting, the characters loveable, and the books each present the reader with several hours of humor and just plain fun! Read this series and enjoy yourself, laugh, and deduce whodunit along with these wonderfully crafted characters. Enjoy!

Absolutely delightful book

This book was so much fun to read. I laughed out loud at times, scaring my own cats in the process. The story contained a mystery, but the interaction between the cats trying to figure out their humans was hilarious and probably true of what they think of us. If you want to lift your spirits and enjoy a couple hours of pure escape, read this book. It is worth the time. Can't wait for more!

Odelia is on her way to interview the Most Fascinating Man in the World when he is murdered. There is no shortage of suspects, as half a dozen other Most Interesting Men are also in town for a convention. Each of them had reason to want to dethrone Burt Goldsmith and take over his cushy position. Odelia's cat, Max, typically helps her investigate, but Max and every other cat in town is dealing with a pesky infestation of fleas. In addition, Max and his buddy Dooley are fearful that Detective Chase Kingsley is going to move in with Odelia, which will lead to...babies! The cats are convinced that the appearance of babies will end with them being sent to the pound. Odelia does her best to allay their fears, but she has a murder investigation to focus on. Will they solve the case before another interesting man dies?

The author has lampooned the Kardashians, Justin Bieber, and Gordon Ramsey, so I guess it was The Most Interesting Man in the World's turn. I don't mind; I always found those commercials annoying. This was probably the funniest book I've read in this series. The cats dealing with the fleas was humorous as was their discussion about the relative ages of their people. They were convinced that Odelia and Chase were most likely 10-15 years old, which Odelia found hilarious. The author tried to inject further humor in the story by having Odelia's grandmother getting up to worse shenanigans than usual. Frankly, I find her antics tedious. She acts like a petulant toddler most of the time. Who finds this funny? Also, he-cat Brutus was having trouble with impotency. I see no need to include such topics. These would be wonderful stories for young readers except that the author consistently adds PG13-rated subplots. Just, no. Finally, once again we had Odelia speaking "cat" to her cats. Again, allow me to point out that the cats have no trouble understanding the speech of other humans, so why must Odelia "meow" at them? This makes zero sense.

Funny enough to earn 4 stars.

Even cats can have ugh "male" problems!

A wonderful, delightful read. When "The Most" group of men come to town on a publicity stunt they don't expect the oldest member to be blown up. Now the chase is on to find the killer as the clues left seem a bit to obvious to her. However that's not her only problem as the cats have all got fleas, Brutus is having a few "male" problems and all the cats are worried about what will happen to them if the couple move in together and start a family. Plus a cat is missing! Bombs, jealousy, Gran up to her old tricks, Alec finding a partner that sets his world on fire and more are all woven into a read that is filled with humour, cats and action. A really wonderful read that let's you catch with your favourite characters. Dooley is as wonderfully confused in the ways of the world as ever!

Some parts were better than the last, most was about the same as the series, but what's the deal with the whole flea escapade? It was some kind of side-show that went nowhere and had nothing to do with the outcome of the mystery. It's like some off-shoot and the author didn't know where to go with it to tie it into the story-line, so why make such a big deal about it? Weird. The police chief was extremely unprofessional! Doesn't matter if he "cleared" the person or not, doesn't matter if they were in a back alley, the actual act by a general person would have the police rapping at the window and charging with public indecency, so how come he's above the law? The whole thing was very distasteful. Same issues with grammar and mismatched character's pronoun to sentence reference. I feel like the author is just cranking out books without reading what s/he wrote or having a good editor to catch silly things that shouldn't interfere with trying to read it. Another solid 3.

Purrfect Peril

Max and his cat crew are at it again: solving a murder, finding a lost cat, going to the vet...what?? Yep, Hampton Cove has been invaded by fleas so baths, flea collars and home monitoring have befallen every cat in town--oh, the humiliation!
There is a murderer who uses beer bottles of nitroglycerine to take out the target. There is a crew of 'The World's Most Interesting Men' with their feline companions who are all suspects in the murder. There is romance: Odelia and Chase, Uncle Alec and a stranger, Gran's affair from yesteryear...
Read on for the answers and antics of Hampton Cove 😁

Odelia Poole reporter for the Hampton Cove Gazette and along with her mother and grandmother can talk to cats. Her cat Max is telling this story and if you need a break from a hard read this is the book.
Odelia goes to the Hotel Hampton Star for an interview with Burt Goldsmith when there is an explosion that kills him. While investigating, lots of personal things happen to Odelia, then Max gets the cats together to solve the mystery . Nobody knows that the cats always helps Odelia solve the murders in Hampton Cove so she can write a scoop for the paper. A surprise ending!

It took me a bit to get use to the fact that Odelia could talk to her cats and have a conversation with them. I am not a big talking animal kind of person and so wasn't sure I would like this book. Once I really got into the story though and accepted that she and the cats could talk to each other I really enjoyed the book. Odelia with the help of her cats was able to find the killer and to make sure it was the right bad guy. It turned into a good cozy mystery. I look forward to finding the rest of the books in this series to read.

Another fantastic book in a fantastic series!

This is one of my favorite series and
every time a new one comes out I
devour it! It has so much going on in
the story line that I can't stop reading!
I love the humorous side of the story and
the interaction between Odelia and the
cats. Also, between the cats, the interaction
always makes me laugh. Max and Dooly (?)
are so hilarious together! This is one extremely
fabulous series!!!!

Okay, first chapter, laugh out loud till tears came at the part where the chief Alec falls through the floor in the bombed out room and lands on a bed in the room below and says I'm okay, I landed on a bed and the old woman beside him said 'and my husband' and he says huh? and she say 'you landed on my husband', I lost it and laughed like hell. The rest of the book is a hunt for the bomber and every cat in town has fleas.

Another "Most Interesting" Book!

Wow...what a clever plot of beer drinking murders! So much fun reading. I loved the new cats added to the mystery. These mysteries have been such an uplifting and thrilling diversion from the depressing CIA and FBI murder books. Thank you so much for making my sleep so relaxing!

Funny and Fill of Heart

It took me a while to get on board with a book series featuring talking cats. But I'm all in at this point! The author has a great way of placing you in the scene, ". . . Raindrops keep falling on my head. . . "
for example. Weird murders, surprising characters, witty dialog and even a love story make up Max's world. You will not be disappointed.

max is king of cats

Once again the kitties saved the day. The cat canoodling could have been omitted but otherwise I love the stories from the cats point of view. I am on to book 8. Thank you for your wonderful stories. Please don’t change the book cover picture. Seeing Tommy makes me smile every time I pick up one of your books.

The most devious murderer in the world

Who’s trying to eliminate the competition? Can Odelia and Max solve the case and save Uncle Alex as well? Will Chase make a commitment or will Gran be a stumbling block? A fun read.

I have read 7 of these simply amusing works and look forward to reading more! Max and his cat friends are very amusing. I wonder what humanity would learn if we could speak catfish? Solving mysterious problems would be easier!

A cat and a mystery

I hate it when an author leaves big holes in the details of a story. When writing a series of books consistency is important, if you can't keep the facts straight from book to book, you failed.
To many things didn't fit right in this story.

I am less enamored with this box series as this book got a bit more sexually explicit. I will finish this boxed set, but will be looking for something else if it continues to have gratuitus sex. Hope the next one is better.
