Patrice Nelson is a hard working psychologist with everything she has ever wanted in life, or so she thinks. She has always helped people with their problems, but has failed to face her own. Seven years have passed since Patrice last saw Adam Chambers. Once she does, her old feelings for him resurface. This time they are stronger than ever. Daria has lived in Texas most of her life. She never enjoyed reading as a kid. In fact, she almost hated it. However, as she grew up, that all changed. Though she received her degree in healthcare management, Daria kept her writing as a hobby. She meant it to be private and her own way of expressing herself. It never crossed her mind to publish until she was in college. She took a chance and published. It worked! As a multi-genre writer, she truly writes what comes to mind. She currently lives in New York with her husband. Learn more at dariawhite.com.
I am a sucker for Christmas-themed reads. They have a feel good vibe, and it's a sure way to get me in the Christmas spirit. I have never read anything by this author, but I enjoyed this selection. This was a quick and cute read about Patrice and Adam, former college sweethearts who reconnect seven years after their breakup. The main reason why I didn't give this five stars was because one particular scene (you'll know it when you get there) seemed a bit too orchestrated, as in the conversation didn't seem to fit with the context of the story. I don't want to include any spoilers, so I'll leave it at that. I plan to read other titles by this author.
Living a life with no regrets means you never lived at all. Making the same decision twice only shows our failure to learn from our decisions. Ms. White does an outstanding job connecting her characters to the reader, in fact, she paints gorgeous images in the reader heads that allows the reader to witness her characters growth word by word. A great book for any season!
This was cute and I could have definitely seen it as a short holiday film. I didn't love the ending or the fact that two past lovers who have not talked in years decides to reunite after one brief exchange even though their lives are going in drastically different ways, extremely unrealistic.
Not a fan of second chance romance. To confess that you are still in love with your ex after 7 years and one coincidental lunch date, unrealistic. He calls off his wedding with his fiancé and shows up at your doorstep, unrealistic.
MY WHAT IF CHRISTMAS WISH by Daria White is an ultra sweet holiday romance. It features both a both black heroine and a black hero and is a standalone book, not part of a series. I love Christmas stories for their simplicity and for the warm fuzzies they leave me with and this one certainly fits the bill. Have you ever wished you’d said “yes” instead of “no”? This tale explores that ageless question of what might have happened if a different fork on the road of life had been selected.
Patrice Nelson, our heroine, is a psychologist with a burgeoning practice. It’s almost Christmas and she has plans to spend the holiday with her family for the first time in two years. When she finds that she has a long break between client sessions, Patrice decides to enjoy a sit-down lunch at a favorite restaurant where she has a chance meeting with an old flame and the story’s hero, Adam Chambliss. They had originally met as college students and their relationship had not had a satisfactory ending seven years ago. Patrice and Adam reminisce a bit before he breaks the bombshell news of his impending marriage. Patrice is devastated but doesn’t let on to Adam. When she gets home, she falls into a dream from which she doesn’t want to wake…one in which she had made a different choice.
There was oodles of SWEET and some HUMOR too. Following please find some of my favorite quotes illustrating both via the couple’s dialogue:
— They met in the student union as Adam was walking away from the counter with his food order. Patrice was reading a passage from her book when she accidentally bumped into Adam. His drink and food spilled over them and the floor. “I’m sorry. I thought I was watching where I was going.” Patrice said. Adam was taken with her right away. “That’s alright, are you okay?” Adam replied as he picked the remaining French fries out of her hair. Patrice smiled even though she was embarrassed. “I’m okay. Thanks for not being upset. I know I should’ve paid more attention,” Patrice added as she picked up her books. “Well if you did, we probably wouldn’t have met,” Adam said with a smile. “I’m getting the feeling you’re flirting with me,” Patrice responded smiling back at him. “If I told you I was would you go out with me tonight?” “Maybe, but I don’t know you that well to go out with you.” “That’s the whole point of going out with me so you can get to know me.”
— “Do you mind if I call you?” Adam asked. “You can if you want to,” Patrice replied as she unlocked her dorm room door. “Can I get your number?” “You already have it.” “I do?” “Check your right pocket in your jacket.” —
“How was your day?” Adam asked. “Long, very, very long.” “You didn’t have fun with Junior?” “Yeah I had the best time changing his diapers,” Patrice replied teasingly… “How was your day?” Patrice asked hoping she would never wake up from this dream. She wanted to prolong it. “Same as yours long, but I didn’t have to change diapers, ” he replied smiling.
— “So Patrice,” Mr. Chambers asked over the dinner table. “What are you studying in school?”… “Well sir, I’m studying psychology.” Patrice replied as Adam held her hand underneath the table. “Psychology, that sounds good to me. That’s good for you too Adam. In case you go crazy, this woman can help you out,” Mr. Chambers joked in response.
— This was a short read at only 126 pages. It was a second-chance-at-love story with relatable, well-developed characters. The tale was enjoyable and I never considered putting it aside. I didn’t rate it higher as Patrice’s dream was almost too perfect and Adam seemed too good to be true. There were also some minor grammar issues – nothing major. However, the tale thoroughly fits the model of a perfect Christmas romance and the surprise ending left me smiling. If you are looking for a quick, sweet Christmas romance, you won’t go wrong with MY WHAT IF CHRISTMAS WISH!
Have you ever looked back on your life and wished that you could change one big decision you made? Have you wondered how your life would have been different if you had said yes instead of no? Well It has been seven years since Patrice has seen her ex boyfriend, Adam. After having lunch with him, she realizes that she's still in love with him and regrets breaking up with him. Unfortunately, it seems like he has moved on and it's too late for Patrice to tell Adam how she feels. It doesn't stop her from dreaming about what her life would have been like if she hadn't broke up with Adam.
My What If Christmas Wish was such a sweet holiday story about a woman who imagines what her life could have been if she had stayed with her boyfriend from college. This was a very quick book but it's perfect to read in one sitting before the holidays. The story was beautiful and the relationship between Patrice and Adam showed us how much love they shared. I really enjoyed the flashbacks from seven years ago when they first started dating and other points in their relationship. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick love story to read before Christmas! I'm fairly sure you wouldn't be disappointed in this book!

This story has put me in a Christmas mood. This story can be adopted as a hallmark Christmas movie that's how good it is. We follow Patrice and Adams's story. Patrice made a rash decision by dumping her college sweetheart when he got a job out of state. 7 years later she meets him and has lunch with him which reminds her how much she loved him and still is in love with him. He informs her that he is getting married on Christmas Eve. Will she tell him she loves him and wants him back or will she allow him to marry the new love of his life? Read the book you find out
I was looking for another new author and came across the title of this book. I downloaded it but it took me a while to read it. I kept looking at the cover for a few days and I finally went ahead and read it. Well, thar was the best decision I've made so far!! This book kept me intrigued and I could not put it down. You outdid yourself with this book. It needs a sequel. I have found a new author. Thanks for the great read!!!!
I really am unsure about how I feel about this short story... It has paranormal elements but that was a surprise. I was uncomfortable with the h dumping her refound love on an engaged man after 7 years absence. It has the HEA but , to me it got there in a strange way.
Enjoyed reading the book; read it twice for Book Club discussion. The "dream" section was a bit longer than what I was expecting. I would like to have heard more about how the couple reconciled and how they realized the error of their ways. Also, why they had let seven years pass without trying to settle the results of what had taken place in their pass.
This got off to a very rocky start. Both the story and the writing but it definitely improved as it went along. I love all the versions of a Christmas carol ever made and I think this falls along those lines. I think having a definitive moment when she makes a wise would have been a great addition to the story.
I just love how strong Patrice Nelson was in making the decision to her heart and Career then she didn't fold under Pressure from her family and I love the relationship with her sister Renee. I wish I could go to sleep and experience a Alternate life. The ending was great I didn't see that one coming, I look forward to reading more by this Author.
I read another book written by this author last year 2022. I can feel and see the improvement in the writing, grammar and ideas. The beginning of the book was awesome then the plot took an entirely different direction than I expected. The ending was pleasantly satisfying however, the dream world was unusual sort of like the literary classic.
A great story. Patrice and Adam. Love them. Maded my heart melt. Never lose site of your true love. I enjoyed reading this book Daria White. Can't wait to read more of your books
We all have a "What If" question. This was a really sweet story it reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Patrice wondered what would have happened if she said yes to Adam's proposal.
This book is a quick and simple read that I enjoyed. However, there's a lingering feeling that something is missing. Despite that, I couldn't put the book down until I finished it.
