Eve woke up to her worst nightmare, she seemed to be in a castle and had no knowledge of how she got there. After realizing where she was she tried desperately to find a way out. After weeks of searching she gave up and accepted her new reality. It wasn’t that bad though, an endless supply of food, all the books you could read, a kitten for company and a fresh plate of cookies on the counter every morning.
One day Jackson mysteriously appears in the castle and seems to be in the same situation as her. She hopes that together they can find a way out of the castle and get back to their real lives. But the longer they are there, the less their former lives matter and the more Eve finds herself falling for Jackson. Can Eve truly accept this new reality and find happiness with a stranger?
Katie Holland is an author of YA and Romance novels. If she's not writing you can probably find her reading. She signed with Kingston Publishing in 2018, which fulfilled a lifelong dream of hers. Popcorn, chocolate and gummy candy keep her going while writing, reading and pretty much doing anything else. She loves baking, taking pictures and seeing new places. Be on the lookout for new books coming soon.
It sounded so good. Like a literal fairytale castle romance, but honestly, I was so let down. We’re introduced to this character who awakes in a castle. For days she searches for ways out, but after a while gives up and lives a relaxing life in it, eating anything she wants. When she wants something, it seems to typically show up the next day. So I’m thinking stalker who stole her. Enter Jackson. They get together rather quickly, simply because he’s the perfect guy and no one else is there; so of course it’s easy to fall for one another. So, now I’m thinking Big Brother; it’s a social experiment. Put two attractive people together, in a castle with everything they could ever want and see what occurs. None of these are cool. At this point, I’m debating DNF-ing it, for reasons I’ll list below, but then it gets interesting. Nothing as neat as described above, but still something I didn’t suspect and it made me sit up and appreciate the creativeness of that first part of the book. Unfortunately, once this occurs, the rest of the book goes downhill for me. Honestly, I got bored.
I found this book to narrate too much. There was too much telling, and as such, it skips through the days, weeks, and months. Months passed when she was with Jackson, but it was only a couple chapters that always seemed to have some mention months passing. I found I didn’t get the full impact of the novel. The romance felt too quick as a result of the telling; we didn’t see it happen with a whole lot of dialogue. There was just a lack of detail here. This unfortunately does roll over into the rest of the book. While the timeline slows down a bit (after 3 years), we’re still told the story through too much narration for my liking.
In addition, there were so many punctuation problems. The author needs a line editor. I ignored them at first, but it got way too distracting. No commas when there should be, lack of capitalization on some.
I also found the character’s voice to sound too juvenile. She’s an adult, but I felt like I was reading a YA book. Super hard to connect with a character that sounds like she’s 15. I also think she needs a friend since she called her mother for everything. Like everything. About the neighbor, about liking the neighbor, about her run ins (or lack thereof), her first date, asked what to wear...on and on it goes. It’s great she’s close with her mom, but calling her about every little thing, and giving day-by-day updates doesn’t sound like a parental thing; sounds like something you’d do with a friend.
Despite being bored in the second half, I guess a lot of my issues lie with the writing and less of the story. The storyline was good, don’t get me wrong. I just didn’t enjoy this book.
This is an absolutely adorable fairytale like romance story that kept me smiling throughout. I won a copy of this book from the author and I look forward to reading more of her books.
This book started out so good for me. I was thoroughly confused about what was going on, and that was a good thing for me. Once things were made clear, I kind of lost interest in both the characters and the story. I wish there had been more to the castle story-line.
I am very conflicted about reviewing this book. Despite several stops & starts I am only 55% through to date. Why the 5 star? It's an excellently written & plotted book with interesting, original & intriguing mysteries: big & little. Why haven't I finished it? It is a very, very, very detailed story. To this point the author has given the reader the minutia of Eve's (h) days & nights once she wakes in the mysterious Castle, when Jackson (H) & later on. None of it makes the book feel padded but it does make things seem to move v-e-r-y s-l-o-w, which is NOT necessarily a bad thing. In the current romance world of 'insta' everything this was actually a welcome respite. It's just I found I wasn't in the mood to keep reading it in one sitting, but I do enjoy going back to it & picking up on the story. I like Eve & Jackson as well as the secondary characters very much. And the plot really has original twists & surprises, a big mystery & little ones that I enjoy. No spoilers but one back & forth plot device was cute AND appealing AND funny. So, I haven't finished it but I will because I DO like it very much. It is very well written & plotted. An excellent book for a long pleasant read or to consume in bits & pieces.

This was a romance that shocked me. This story did not go where I had thought it would go. And I loved it! Eve wakes up in a castle. There is no way out but she has everything she could need. She spends days with just herself and a kitten she names Princess. Then a man suddenly appears in castle, Jackson, who is now also trapped. They start a friendship that turns into a romance that made me swoon so hard. But that was just the beginning of this tale. The truth had me shocked. Really this felt like a few different stories all wrapped up in one. This is more than a romance filled with surprises. It's also a story about finding yourself. A story about doing what makes you happy. But romance fans don't worry, there is plenty of that in here too. Again, I love this book. It was unique and not a story line I had ever really read before. I couldn't put it down! I highly suggest this story.
This is the first book I have read by this author. Very interesting the way she wrote this book. You think you are reading about a girl trapped in a castle but once you get through it a little bit you realize it is so much more than that. I absolutely loved the story line. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was definitely a page turning story line. I loved the characters and the chemistry they have and how things happen between them. Well written storyline. I would love to read more from this writer. I do recommend this one. There is a little mystery suspense and some twists and turns that make this book worth reading.
A well written book with a great plot, my only complaint this that unlike the Nykara series by the same author, this book is too detailed. I almost quit reading the book 3 or 4 times.
The only reason I continued reading was because the story was gripping, the questions of why, when, who, wouldn't let me leave the book. Within 24 hours of deciding not to read it I would pick it up again. It was addictive.
In spite of the detailing a very interesting read full of mystery, intrigue and a subtle romance.

What an intense read. You find yourself somewhere not knowing why. There is no way out but every need you have is met. You have no idea why and when you finally just accept it and go on here comes a man. He is in the same boat. You both decide to try and get out but then the more you try the more you fall for each other. What a ride with lots of twists and turns. Exciting, emotional, intense, intriguing and so much more. At first reading the first couple of chapters I wasn’t too sure if I would this book, the more I read the more weird it got at first, Then come to find out it was all apart of a coma eve was in which was sad. After years of rehabilitation even moved into her very own apartment and found the man of her dreams. The second part is there journey I sometimes wonder if the book was about the authors journey.
Trapped in Castle by Katie Holland is a wonderful story to read. This is a wonderful start to a brand new series that I fell in love with. I can not wait to read the next book in this series and I highly recommend this story to everyone.

She woke up in a strange castle and she tries to escape but she finds there is no escape. There is plenty of food, books and even cookies. She starts to enjoy herself. A strange man appears and it may be the one who will make things better. Will it? Will they ever what to leave? See if they will

This book is a page turner. It held my attention and kept me interested. I found Eve to be a likeable and realistic character. If you're looking for a sweet, romance with a twist you've found the right book.
I won a copy of this book in a giveaway. It is my firstbook from Katie Holland. I absolutely LOVED this book!! Katie wrote a brilliant story with exceptional spins. I wasn’t expecting what was awaiting me in this story. True page turner that kept me intrigued throughout.
I don’t normally read regular romance novels. However I liked the title and the cover and decided to give it a try. It really was nice and sweet. I liked the way everything developed and even though the beginning was confusing at first it really came full force after pushing through it.
What an amazing book. This story will hook you from the first page and keep you reading to the end. It's a little mystery and fairytale kind of book that had me wanting to find out what was gonna happen. Be prepared to be surprised
This was a really interesting story. The storyline was so completely different from all other books I have read. I loved the characters, the mother was great and her relationship with her daughter was awesome. Elle was a lucky woman to survive her accident and then to meet someone who was just like her dream mate for real was fate maybe? The book was really wonderful. My first time I think reading this author. I enjoyed it. ❤️❤️
The idea behind the story was interesting. However, there was an awful lot of “I did this then this then this then this then this. Then this happened. And this happened. Also this. Then this.” Also, usually it doesn’t surprise me for Amazon books to be edited poorly, but I think using the wrong “your/you’re” is the most cringeworthy thing an author can do. Last thing: I felt like I wasted the last 3/4 of the book, because I knew the ending 25% of the way through! I give it two stars instead of one ONLY BECAUSE I would NOT have guessed the way this story went until the author ruined it a quarter of the way through.
