Soda is an immortal space octopus with a temper. Her special skills include teleportation and inappropriate use of tentacles. She's going to take back what was hers.
Floyd is a brainwashing therapist by day and a terrifying, illegal Preying Mantis in his free time. Also, he's an Executive Producer of the tv show All My Wormholes. He believes he should rule the galaxy.
Froggy is a master of technology, which he harnesses for evil purposes. He's also an interstellar traveler who has finally found his Zen. He wants to prove he has what it takes to be Overlord.
Ray is an Intergalactically famous Oracle with millions of adoring fans and a flair for the dramatic. He has wanted to be Overlord ever since he arrived in this galaxy and he knows that it's now or never. He and his pet troll Chipmunk are ready.

Overlord Brawl is the first book in a series. It sets the stage for the comeback of Neon Octopus reclaiming her place as the overlord of the universe, a job she loved. But there are others who want the job and will fight he for it. What they don’t realize is that the Soda, the Neon Octopus, will stop at nothing, and she means nothing, to get her job back.
Realizing she needs money since her enemies had frozen her assets, Soda has instituted a vlog offering instructions to her viewers on how to become an overlord of their own universe. As absurd as it may seem, the money starts rolling. Her plan is beginning.
Together with her comrades, she intends to reinstate herself. However, her enemies find her ship. Right in the middle of her exciting vlog militants board her ship and attempt to kill her. Her comrades become entangled in a battle to save their lives and hers, as she keeps broadcasting.
An exciting adventure is promised in this humorous tale as Soda strives to become Overlord. Prepare yourself for a cast of unforgettable, colorful characters.

A humorous book filled with action and danger.
I enjoyed this story immensely. There is humor, danger and action. I like the variety of beings. I like the variety of types of characters. There are aliens,humans, reporters, conspiracy theorists, an alien octopus, even mobsters. I like the political machinations. The plot is complicated, but Johnson brings everything together. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a different and humorous science fiction book.

The Neon Octopus is back with all her frenemies and cohorts. Several of them want her seat as Overlord and that sets the scene for an infinite amount of drama. Have fun with "her snarkiness" and see how she handles the competition! Eight thumbs up!

Super story.
I have read a lot of this author's books after finding his work in an anthology. I find them a good way to try author's new to me. I have never felt let down by anything that I have read and have already preordered the next book on my kindle.
