"How did you know she was here?" I froze. Who was that? How had they gotten in? I didn't recognize the voice.
"He tracked her phone. Guess she knew too much." Another voice. There were two of them...and they were looking for me.
I slid further under the bed. Please God.
They were in the room now. "I dunno, doesn't look like there's anybody here to me. What do we do now?" The feet got closer. The mattress pressed down on my back. The second guy sat too.
"We wait. She'll be back. Her car's in the lane."
