MAXIMO VEGA is a “rock” star! The media proclaimed him 'The Sculptor for the New Generation,' but he’s a reclusive artist ensnared by fame. Driven and intense, his isolation only adds to his mystique. Couple that with his smoldering good looks and rich Italian accent… Fans sigh his name. EMILY BASKINS is a gifted graduate student at the Stoddard School of Art. To land an internship at the Vega Studio is her golden ticket. All she has to do is follow the rules. And stay out of trouble. Two things Emily has never been able to do. As Max becomes trapped in the glare of the limelight, he discovers his greatest muse. He teaches Emily to breathe passion into clay and give marble a soul. But is their fiery relationship as rock solid as they believe? Or will a lie shatter the illusion?
Lisa is an artist/writer living in her dream house nestled among the lakes in New England. She loves getting lost in a steamy book, finding the perfect pair of sexy shoes, and hearing the laughter of her men. Being an estrogen island in a sea of testosterone makes her queen. She believes in ghosts, silver linings, the power of a man in a tuxedo, and happy endings.
Em walks into her dream internship with the incredibly famous sculptor Maximo Vega. She cannot believe her luck when not only does she get to work with his genius but he liked her work and ideas so much he gives her a third year job to start working on.
But – when he decides he wants Em to model for him things start escalating really fast. The chemistry between the two of them sparks like mad and they cannot deny their feelings toward one another.
I was not a huge fan of the narration. As a book that is predominantly from the female perspective I didn’t feel it was such a good idea to have a male narrator. On top of that I did have some trouble keeping myself interested in book due to Mr Lee’s inflections when reading Em’s point of view. This was a really well done story. I Enjoyed the pace at which the story progressed. The relationship between Em and Max really leaves you feeling a little hot under the collar and watching Em grow into a more mature version of herself certainly wasn’t hard on the ears. The amount of secrets, half truths and outright lies made for a very edgy and intriguing read. I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop. This honestly was the biggest reason why I kept on switching back to the book in the first place. In the end you are left with a very satisfying HEA and need to actually get your hands on the first book in the series (as I jumped in on #2 with this one).
If you loved Picture Me Naked, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE Rock Solid. It was a great exploration of artistic passion and insecurity, something I can certainly relate to as a writer. I loved the story, the heated passion and love story, and I was particularly stunned by Max's big secret because it was quite different from what I suspected! Wonderfully written!!
