Sometimes the dead don't go quietly away. Sometimes they have unfinished business.
Sean owns a hundred-year-old building that houses his tech business. After a suspicious death occurs in the building, rumors begin to surface about other deaths that may have happened there.
When Sean finds himself at the center of mysterious occurrences, he is forced to face his fears to find out the real reason behind the unexplained events.
But can these events be explained away? Or is there a more sinister reason for all the unexplained activity?
Great story. I really loved the fact how the employer reacted upon the death of David, the deceased technician. The office atmosphere is very realistic and I liked the description of the eerie old elevator next to the express ones. Likeable main character, a good shot of horror and an interesting ending. If you like a fine horror story that goes way beyond the usual violence and bloodshed this one is absolutely right for you. Recommended!
Wonderfully sweet and spooky. I had both goosebumps on my skin and tears flowing from my eyes. I wonder if I will look at the elevators the same way after Deadfall.
I normally don't go for short stories. I find that they leave me wanting one too many times because not many authors can satisfy my bookly needs in 40 pages or so. As a new Patton fan, I'm finding this is not the case with her. This is a great short story. It has a beginning, middle and end...which that alone is amazing to me. You ger a sense of the main character. Who he is as a person. You even get a sense of the side characters. Nothing felt rushed or unexplained. In 40ish pages? That's a winner.
A short story with a paranormal twist. It is a only a little spooky and fortunately not a major crime scene. We get an introduction to a successful nerd and his quirky habits. He comes through for his unfortunate employee's family. In summary - a very pleasant tale.
For a short story Ms. Patton has hit all the right buttons that many longer books miss. A 100 year old building, a fabulous cage elevator, a death and a ghost, add up to a spooky, thrilling, "has it all together" book. Victoria knows how to captivate her audience. Highly Recommended.
