Claiming Her Mates from author Dia Cole is Book 1 in the Claiming Her Mates Series. This was an incredible introduction to this author and I cannot wait to read the others in this series. This has got to be one of the best reads that I have read in a while. I love this take on a apocalyptic world where a flu epidemic is about to wipe out the entire human species by turning them into zombies - what more could you ask for, oh I know 3 extremely hot, sexy alpha males who all happen to be Lykos shifters(werewolves) sworn to protect a beautiful female.

This book was filled with passion, sexiness, action, drama, mystery, & fear. I was captivating and compelled while reading this book. This author has created an incredible imaginative read, full of twists, incredibly lovable and amazing characters and a read that will last with me for quite some time I love it so much I read it in one sitting. Each of these characters brought something brilliant to this story, whether it was how Mason, Gabriel or Liam’s different personalities impacted how they were with Havana, how each of their sizzling, intense and immediate connections with Havana brought an extra depth to this read that I loved.

Another great thing with this book is that it was written in dual POV’s. I love reading it from the characters POV’s as we get to really see their thoughts and feeling from them rather than the other person. I also think it helps connect with a character as you get to understand some of their reasons of their actions!

This read was everything I thought it would be and more! I loved it and now will be eagerly awaiting Book 2 in this series.

This was the beginning and middle of a book, but minus the big conflict and ending. I know it's part of a series, but it's more of an instalment of a book. Luckily it's in KU so I can just grab the rest.
It's a bit anti-vaxxer (a rushed flu vaccine during a pandemic causes a zombie apocalypse), though it was published before COVID was a thing. Though sadly the zombies are pretty lacking. There's the start of a zombie infestation, then the werewolves drive her away to a secluded cabin in the woods, and then it's basically lead up to sexy times and no more zombies. It has great potential to go somewhere with the rest of the books, but I liked the idea more than the execution.
Very insta love, not a lot of world building, but it's different. It just could have used a little more fleshing out.

Dia Cole has one freakin awesome concept for this book, shifters in the zombie apocalypse. I mean come on, what could be more awesome than that?! However, the execution of it was a little less than expected. Don’t get me wrong it was a great quick read about shifters and this pack’s problem alpha and Havana’s want of a family, love and acceptance. But after the awesome start with the zombie action thrown into the beginning of the story, I felt a little let down (if you couldn’t tell, I’m super into zombies). But, the steamy scenes, and the foundation for a potentially great series, leads me to being enticed to follow this series through. The hints of what is to come make it sound intriguing and left me wanting more, I just hope they encounter more zombies while they deal with the pack drama.

Claiming her Mates by Dia Cole a four-star read you will want to claim. This is the first novel in the Claiming her mate’s series and it’s a paranormal shifter romance, not everyone likes the genre, but this is a very well-done example. What a story, there is drama and steam a plenty, what made it even more powerful is Vana, she could have been swallowed up by the three powerful male characters, but she isn’t, she stands toe to toe. The chemistry between the four is page melting and we hear from each of them, that just makes the story so much clearer. There was something missing overall, but I am sure that the next novel in the series will give us that little extra as we will have more of a grounding, bring on number two.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series)
By: Dia Cole
5 out of 5 stars

The story Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series) by Dia Cole is a paranormal romance book. It is a story in a genre that I have always loved reading. It drew me in from the very beginning and had me turning pages to find out what happens next. I loved reading about the main character of Havana and the three Lykos shifters that have sworn to protect her. Havana believes that the men that have shown up and tell her she is to come with them are police, so she tries to run. What she soon finds out is that chaos has begun because of a flu vaccine that has been given out and turning people into monsters. The three rescue her and she finds herself under their protection. Her ex has issued a threat of what will happen if anyone touches her. Havana and her three protectors are very attracted to each other. Their desire for each other shows through and is at times overwhelming. Why does Havana feel such strong emotions towards the three men she has just met? Will the threat that Havana’s ex has given strong enough to override the desire that Mason, Gabriel, and Liam have for her? What does the future hold for Havana and her protectors? Read this story to find out. This story is red hot and makes the temperature in the room rise. You can feel the conflict that Mason, Gabriel, and Liam have as their feelings for Havana keep getting stronger and harder to ignore. I enjoyed reading about the different characters and the background information given on them. As this is book one in a series it lays a good foundation for further stories that come after it. This is a wonderful book and has amazing characters. It is one I would highly recommend reading.

I give Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series) by Dia Cole, 4 stars.

Havana is just surviving. She never thought she would be stripping for a living, but it's what she knows and she's good at it. When a possible epidemic breaks out, she doesn't know what to make of it. Then to make matters worse, three men who are hot enough to melt the North Pole walk into the club looking for her. They want to take her away, to safety they claim. Then they say they are doing this at her ex's request. Should she really go with them? Is it really that bad? What does her lying creep of an ex want with her? And why is it she wants all three of the men who came for her? What happened to her resolve?

This is a great beginning to a series. It features many things that promise to be a hot and exciting series. I really like Havana. Down on her luck and no one to celebrate the holidays with, she is disheartened. But the men arrive, bringing excitement and possibilities with them. The men are great too. Each one is different but all appealing in their own way. Even if you are not big on multiple partners, you can understand where Havana is coming from. Although there is the constant struggle of each of the characters and their feelings, there is also the action of what is happening to those with virus. Plus the men having to obey both their alpha male and the sadistic Alpha female.

A hot paranormal romance with multiple partners, I highly recommend this book to those not afraid to read something different.

This book was garbage. If you like reading books with absolutely zero substance and no plot, this is the book for you. I’m not kidding, I thought it was a joke when it came to the end. How could it possibly be the end when nothing happened??

There is a breakdown of the entire book....

Girl: Oh no! Zombie apocolypse!
Random dudes: come with us! We will take you to a secret place in the forest!
*we need to get rid of this bitch, she’s trouble***but we love her!*
Girl: ...okay...
Dudes: we cannot bring her around us, let us drop her off at this old abandoned cottage in the woods during a snow storm. She is too dangerous!
Girl: but...I don’t like this cottage, it’s scary
Dudes: do no go near her, she is a werewolf female going Into heat. She will want to have sex with us!!!
Girl: *falls in snow, hurts back, is infected with zombie virus* gets healed and goes into heat (total like 3 pages for this part)** HAVE SEX WITH ME!
Dudes:....okay
Girl: I claim you all forever and ever! But I still love my ex, even though he’s an asshole, but I don’t forgive him...I can’t wait till he gets here!

The end

This book is like a mini novella. It takes place over like 24 hours, I kid you not. It’s awful!

Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series) by Dia Cole is an original idea and not your normal wolf shifter story. The world is thrown into pandemonium when a “flu” breaks out and a zombie apocalypse. The action starts right from beginning and definitely grabs your attention. It is a good start for the series and oh so sexy and oh so hot, with a lot of sizzle and passion as well.

Three Lycos shifters have been tasked to find one woman. A woman that their Alpha has ordered them to find and protect. A woman that changes all their lives. A woman that seems to be in danger not only from the pandemic but also the Lycos population and themselves.

Now I have to wait anxiously for the next one.

Hot

If you read the prequel then you are thinking there is no way she is ever going to be around Nathan again. When a virus endangers her life though, three men show up and whisk her away to safety. Being locked away with three hit men is tempting. When other factors intensify things, well, it gets a little hot.

Again, I was hooked from the get go. There is so much going on and yet we still get a hot as hell story too. Very well balanced and well written. Can’t wait to see what happens when he shows up.

This is horrible. So your plot is a Vaccine is turning people into monsters? Literally fuck you and this bullshit antivax propaganda. You should be ashamed of yourself for this. Stories have power, people buy into the idea of yours? They die (and even worse, help kill others). It wouldn't be that big of a deal if there weren't people who actually believed vaccines could change their DNA, or something like that (which is absolutely impossible). But there are. I hope you (at the very least) include a disclaimer saying that vaccines save lives.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One is the first book in A Paranormal Shifter Romance Series by Dia Cole. This is quite an original take on the shifter romance story, as it incorporates Lykos shifters (wolves), military experimentation, a worldwide flu pandemic- with a zombie apocalypse. There is action aplenty in this steamy reverse harem/ménage story. There’s danger, drama, action, adventure, tension, suspense, some mystery, intrigue, sizzle, passion, and romance.
Havana James (Vana) has been on her own since she was 16 years old- doing whatever she needed to do to get by. She’s beautiful, seductive, independent and sassy. Her past could have made her hard and cold, but instead, she’s resilient, compassionate and caring. She’s at work one night when some sexy strangers swoop in and demand she leave with them. She mistakenly thinks they’re the police- but soon realises that she’s wrong. In the process of trying to sneak away from them, she places herself in a very deadly situation- but luckily for her the strangers are there to save the day. They finally convince her that they are there to make sure she stays safe and to take her out of harms way. She is a little wary, but as danger mounts, she’s really left with little choice but to let them ‘help’. As the four of them spend time together, it is apparent that there is a strong attraction between them, a powerful force that is hard to deny. But not everyone is pleased to have her around. The tension mounts and sparks fly. What happens when their sizzling chemistry bubbles over and their passions ignite? Will they make it to safety? Who are these ‘men’ and why are they helping her? What happens when secrets are revealed- will Vana be strong enough to handle the truth?
This book started off a little slow, and for the first half of the book the story lacked the depth that I was hoping for….. But the second half of the story really got really interesting and really made up for the slower start. The characters were really great, especially throughout the second half of the book. They each had their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws- which made them realistic, believable, and likeable. I must admit that I really didn’t take to Gabriel for the first half of the book- he was difficult, prickly, and cold. But when the story evolved, I got an understanding of what made him the way he was, my heart ached for what he’d been through. So, my feelings for him did a complete flip from hate to love over the course of the book. Mason is such a sweetheart, the kind and nurturing one of the group- he made my heart go pitter-patter! Liam is a sexy giant of a man- he had me at 7 foot bearded protector, and I loved his cheeky, flirty nature, too (swoon).
The story is told from these four points of view, which gives the reader a well-balanced/complete perspective of what’s happening and what they’re all going through.
I loved the unique take on the whole shifter romance, I thought it was very clever of Ms. Cole. I enjoyed the story a lot, especially the second half. This is the first part though- as the story is set to continue in in part two, which I can’t wait to get my hands on. There’s also a prequel coming out soon, which I am excited to read, too!

Thank you, Ms. Cole!

Before I get into my gripes review, I want to point out that I'm planning to read the next book.

I'll start by saying this was kind of surreal (in a good way?) to read during a pandemic while a quickly manufactured vaccine is being rolled out. Why? Because their zombie apocalypse was the result of a hastily released vaccine for the canine flu , which killed a quarter of the world's population. Even more interesting is that this book was released a couple of years before we entered our current pandemic.

While we're talking about the vaccine, it made no sense to me how it turned everyone into zombies within 24 hours. The incubation period is short enough for scientists to have caught it fairly quickly even if they didn't take the usual length of time to test the vaccine out. The only way I could see this being plausible is if they didn't test it at all.

Other issues I had include:
- The conversation was shallow and stilted for much of the beginning and I debated not finishing the book because of that.

- Given the gravity of the impending zombie apocalypse, you’d think that would occupy more space in their brains. But no. That’s got nothing on how attracted everyone is to each other.

- Once explained (which took too long for my tastes), I could get past the insta-obsession from Liam and Mason.

-

- Biggest issue: apparently this isn't really the first book in the series despite the title. Seems like Claiming The Nanny holds that title, given Havana's prominent role and constant references to things that happened in that book.

As I mentioned, I'm probably going to continue the series because I didn’t meet this Nathan character and I don’t plan on going back to the first book.

Honestly, 3 stars is a bit generous given the thin plot, but it did become moderately more interesting somewhere along the way and it scratched an itch to read a quick book.

ETA: Claiming the Nanny is being marketed as the prequel on Goodreads, but it's definitely (as of the time of my writing) got Book 1 attached to the title on Amazon (Claimer Her Mates also says Book 1 on Amazon).

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew my mind. I absolutely love Paranormal Romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book of a new series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. You can’t help but to fall in love with all of these characters. I was drawn into this story on page one. The story takes you on a journey like no other. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.

Havana is ready for the holidays but her friends are telling her that they can’t go to her party. She is sad but more turkey for her. Havana is finishing up her night at work but then three very hot men come looking for her. She is afraid that they are cop so she runs but she runs into danger. Havana has discovered that the new flu vaccine is turning all the humans into some type of monsters. She came very close of becoming a meal but one of the men saves her life. Havana now has to depend on Gabriel, Liam, and Mason with her life. She notices that something is off about them but what. Havana gets to know these men and she starts to develop feelings for them. Who will Havana choose and will they find a cure for this epidemic?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all hot romance, suspense, and mystery. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Havana is a very strong woman and she knows what she wants. She is not afraid of speaking her mind. The men in this book will make you swoon. They have their own personalities and you will fall in love with all of them. Gabriel is moody and dark but he treats Havana like a princess. Liam is beautiful and very humorous. Mason is a sweetheart that would do anything to make Havana smile. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your toes curl. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what will happen to these unforgettable characters next.

Holy Pete, there was a lot going on in this book! I was very glad to find out that this was going to have more than just a part two eventually. I understood that this took awhile to set up as far as the story line went but for me that first third or so of the book really was a stall for me. I struggled to get into it. My issue was the many layers that this author was trying to take on and the multiple point of views all at once. Don’t get me wrong! I ended up really enjoying this book and the concept. There was a lot of time and plotting that went into this that is beyond evident once you finish. I really hope I don’t get the flu this year. So my strongest suggestion, stick through it, it's totally worth it in the end!

Like I was mentioning this was a packed book, but the main gists boil down to our MC, Havana, or more referred to as Vana, is swept up into a situation that she never expected to find herself in. Worse so she is a headstrong woman that knows how to take care of herself and these handsome three me that want to help her certainly are not going to make it easy on her nerves or her hormones. This is a reverse harem/ menage novel, another layer added, and this is done well. Things begin to heat up between the four, and not just between the skin. For more of the details you will just have to devour this gem for yourself.

Claiming Her Mates is the first book in Claiming Her Mates series written by Dia Cole and the first book that I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. This author had me sitting by the seat of my pants with this great paranormal story. The characters are amazing and well written and the way she wrote the scenery was great.
Havana has everyone bailing on her holiday party, she didn’t think the night could get any worse. Then three scorching hot men storm the club and demand she goes with them. Thinking they’re cops, then she finds out there not cops, then she discovers the flu vaccine is turning people into zombies.

The things you want to know that helps make your decision on whether to read the series or not!

**This is a RH, shifters, humans, zombie apocalypse fast burn 4 complete series (including prequel "claiming the nanny"). This is a review for the complete series. **

1. Multi POV
2. Must read prequel to understand the story or get the complete collection as that & extra scenes are included
3. If you like lots of steamy sex scenes, this is the series for you
4. It is a insta connection/love type series but it is also fought & involves turmoil/anguish/heartbreak so don’t let it stop you 🙌🏻
5. Involves kids & pregnancy
6. Actual shifting occurs

This is not your typical werewolf story. One they aren’t called werewolves/shifters/lycans etc. They use a different term & a different history. The alpha females are also stronger etc than the alpha males which is cool 🙌🏻. That’s not to say you still don’t see the typical alpha maleness in the story/harem but if it were to come to a fight the alpha female would win, not that this is a good thing either. Power corrupts no matter your sex. It’s also happening around the time a zombie apocalypse is occurring, although it isn't the main focus their are still elements/scenes which is totally cool 🤣🙌🏻. I enjoyed the things that set this apart from other werewolves stories & their abilities.

A great read about trust. Havana has the worst day at the strip club she works at when a man falls sick with the new virus and the apocalypse begins in front of her. Rescuing her from it all are three handsome and mysterious men who are just as deadly. Can she trust them to lead her to safety?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Havana standing up for herself but caring underneath or Liam as a gentle giant.
I loved the use of the senses throughout the novel like the smell of the corpses/zombies and blood and fire or the sounds of bones crunching and popping as if you were actually there. I also loved the visual detail of the grandeur of the vacation house later on with the statues and strange furniture Gothic style from a horror story.
The shift in perspectives for chapters worked well to display all sides to the story and was easy to follow. I loved how the story started straight into the action to grab the reader from the start. Fast paced action and high stakes in a sci-fi fantasy world made for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Claiming Her Mates By Dia Cole

5-Stars

Havanna is still struggling over her last breakup. She has sworn off guys and just wants to focus on earning her keep as a stripper. When the world goes crazy with what seems like a zombie apocalypse due to an issue with the Canine Flu vaccine three men are sent to retrieve her. Her former lover Nathan sends Mason, Liam, and Gabriel to retrieve her and keep her safe. He plans to make her his but the unexpected happens. Discovering that the men are not quite human she decides that they are hers. Does she have to claim just one or can she have all three. What will Nathan do when he finds out his friends have stolen his girls heart?

This novel was easy to read and get lost in. I could not put this steamy romance down. Liam, Mason, and Gabriel were described as sexy and strong. It was easy to picture these men as well as Havanna as the story progressed. I also liked that this paranormal steamy romance was mixed with a doom’s day type scenario. The scenario seemed very realistic.

Sexy shifters, a zombie apocalypse, and an independent heroine make for an enjoyable story. Claiming Her Mates follows Havana, Mason, Gabriel, and Liam as they seek refuge outside the city. The story's told through all four's POVs, so we get to know each character that much better. The story's well-paced and keeps things interesting--I read this quick-read novel in one sitting!

I can't wait for the next book in this series! (Don't worry, it's a nice HFN, not a crazy cliffhanger, but the story is definitely not complete... I can't wait to see what happens with the infamous Nathan arrives.)

Mild spoiler because it's revealed pretty quickly:

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a paranormal shifter story. I think the idea behind this book is original; shifters dealing with a zombie apocalypse. The story starts off full of action which quickly grabbed my attention. It was interesting how the author explained the way the apocalypse started. The rest of the book continues with hormone induced, lust filled pages. A mention of the zombies an after thought. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed every moment of them especially the scene between Havana, Mason and Liam. It was panty wetting. I just feel if the author had blended the two storylines a little more, it would have been better.

There are characters that were spoken alit about that we don’t meet and the book ends with the story being incomplete. This book is a terrific setup for the rest of the series. I’m interested in finally meeting Nathan and seeing what happens with Tasha in the next part.

Claiming Her Mates book one written by Dia Cole. This is a genre I enjoy reading. It’s always a nice break from reality to read this type of story. Claiming Her Mates has a few unique twists to it though, so it’s definitely not your average shifter story. Vana (Havana) is working as a stripper just trying to get by since she no longer works for Nathan (who’s also her ex). With a virus being spread around she doesn’t have many options when three gorgeous men show up and say they need her to go with them, that Nathan sent them.
This story gets your attention from the beginning and hold it with vanas mouthy comments and the need the men have when it comes to her. Only things aren’t always what they seem…especially when there’s one female and three males stuck at the sanctuary during a snow storm….what could possibly go wrong, I mean how hard would it be to stay away from her….turns out, impossibly hard.

Claiming Her Mates: Book 1: (A Paranormal Shifter Romance Series)
By Dia Cole
4 stars

I really enjoyed this story; it had this great originality to it that made it really interesting to read. I quite like shifter stories and have read a few and Claiming Her Mates was definitely one of my favourites that I have read. This book is also the first that I have read by this author and I thought that she had a really engaging writing style, one that captured my attention easily and held it throughout the book. I really liked Havana and I thought that she was a strong female lead in the story. I will admit I’m not usually one for stories that involved or potentially involve multiple partners but it was different in this book and I loved how protective Liam, Mason and Gabriel were over Havana.
This book has definitely paved the way for what I think will be a great series and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next.

The book is well written and stays interesting the whole way through. It also has some very hot, steamy scenes with sexy shifters. You can’t go wrong with this book.

This story is some woman’s dream come true. Though I like the thought I don’t think I could handle three men. I have to say Gabriel was my favorite amongst the men. He had the most restraint and loyalty. Though his loyalty was there by force he did what he was told. I liked that he didn’t let his needs out way their safety. He had great control even when her heat was at its worse. I liked that Liam and Mason knew what they wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. They protected Havana and cared for her every need. Now if I could only find a man to do that for me 🤣 I really liked this authors writing style. It was very smooth and effortless. I enjoyed every moment in this story even the cliché zombie part. I am very interested in knowing how they deal with the consequences of their actions.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One by Dia Cole
Four Stars

Claiming Her Mates: Book One is a paranormal shifter romance Series by Dia Cole. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Cole, but definitely won’t be the last. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. Havana is such a fabulous heroine in this story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. This book has a little of everything, Zombies, Werewolf shifters, Worldwide pandemic and steamy reverse harem romance between Havana and the Lykos shifter’s. This fast paced, action pact story is full of intrigue, suspense, drama, mystery and hot romance. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Dia Cole.
