This is an enjoyable civil war historical fiction book with very definite “good” and “evil” characters. Dixie, Tommy, and Ryan were favorites of mine. Tori’s antics almost made me angry enough to quit reading at times. There were a few times it became a little battle heavy, but I still plan to read the next book in the series.

2nd Book in the Battles of Destiny Series
This book is about Captain Ryan McGraw, his Sharpshooters, the impending battle of Mobile Bay, and the love triangle that develops around Captain McGraw. Captain McGraw must choose between his ex-wife who had his child after she deserted him to marry abusive Captain Lex Coffield, and beautiful sweet Dixie Quade.
This book ends much better than the first book! Both (Captain McGraw and the the woman of his choosing) are aware the other is alive and they are engaged and get to see each other again when the book ends. This book developed more interest on the war and the love triangle doesn't even develop until Chapters 11-12.
This will be a great read for anyone interested in the historical fiction based on the Civil War!

A little too much romance in this one -- even for me. Plus, the sharpshooters are too accurate. Finally, after reading two of the titles in this series, I perceive that Lacy isn't so much a Christian fiction storyteller as He is simply clean and conservative. That is OK. Generally seeking more realism from him though.

All the civil war battle series by Lacy are good easy reads but the best is Beloved Enemy.
