The "Ballet Boy" is a great book with a theme of self-acceptance. I picked this book because while reading it I enjoyed the storyline of Mitchell and how he followed his love for ballet despite the negativity he received. I will use this book in the classroom to encourage students to follow their dreams/hearts despite the negativity.

I feel very uncomfortable reading this to our 5 year old. It plays into stereotypes I don't want to expose our boy to, such as dad's hating ballet.

This book isn't for us, but might well be for you and your situation.
