The importance of The Holy Bible, whether as a master work of literature or religious canon, can hardly be overestimated. This comprehensive study guide provides a unique approach to reading The Holy Bible and helps readers dive deep into the New Testament to analyze the teachings of Jesus through poetry and parable. i don't want to give anything away, but i think this was a bit disappointing.

****SPOILER ALERT*****

okay, so the first thing you should know is that the main character totally dies, BUT, and this is the main problem, in my view, he is miraculously and inexplicably brought back to life, only to disappear into thin air. so what was this, a dream? and there was no way for the reader to figure out who did it. the author totally drops a deus ex machina in there at the end, wrapping up everything a little too neatly. this was clearly finished under a tight deadline.

most of the characters suffer from too little development and a few from too many boils. i didn't buy the whole relationship between Ruth and Boaz. I mean, what was the deal with the shoes? As if.

This book isn't at all what I expected - being a Cliff's Notes, I expected a book by book synopsis of the Bible. Instead, without preaching, it presents an excellent history of the Bible, often grouping books, and discusses how & by whom each was written, and why each was written. An excellent approach to learning more about the Bible!

More of a historical layout of the Bible, with sometimes opposing views on how important/realistic the writings are. I was hoping for more of a general understanding of the major stories and morals that are culturally referenced, but instead got a somewhat confusing history lesson.

If you don't have the time for the real thing, this might do.
