Well, I was disappointed with this read. It was "bland"? There would have been many wonderful scenes of intrigue and escape, but things kept getting in the way. Take for instance...
We needed to get the heroine out of Venezuela.
So, now I am wondering "what" woman since this is a gay cruise... (take into account that it was implied that this would be a "male" only cruise.) And then we get this...
“So, which is it,” Benjamin asked. “Drugs or kidnapping?” “Heroine,” Jack told him.
Then this...
“They’ve got the bridge. Do you think they have the heroine? Is that why they’re still here?” Benjamin asked.
“What do you think the plan was after they got their load?” Tim asked. “Man, these guys, and their heroine. Nothing’s going to stop them.”
“I’ve seen dealers do a lot worse to crews smuggling heroin,” Bristle said. “They care more about money than human life.”
Finally, we now know that it is drugs, NOT a kidnapping! *grin*
I could have overlooked the obvious, but I will admit that I had a bit of fun pointing it out, evil person that I am! *grin*
There was so much telling and very little showing, although there were a few sentences that would just pop up and I would think, "Wow, I wonder who wrote that?" I don't mean to sound harsh, and I do believe that this is my first book by this author so maybe things will click with me if I get around to reading another one of his stories someday...
As for my thoughts in relation to the other ratings of mostly 4 and 5-stars, without reviews, might I add... for me, I just didn't see it. :(
