Excellent information on dangers of mold mycotoxins and how the dangers and life long issues can really sneak up on you over time. Helpful information on how mold mycotoxins can harm your growing baby while pregnant or while nursing as it’s important to have this information. I agreed with most of the nutritional information for mold toxicity healing, but I align more with GAPS style nutrition, hence the 4stars. Overall though a must read for anyone suffering with issues that they do or do not know as related to mold toxicity or anyone living/working/hanging out in toxic moldy environments. And psssss you cannot smell mold and you cannot see mycotoxins.

I’m not sure that 99% of the population understands mold, something that is within 50% of all homes at high-ish levels. I think the increasing desire to cut costs and improve developer profitability has , unfortunately , made us lose touch with a foundational pillar of home building.. keeping mold at bay. Our homes are basically made of mold feed, and with pipes concealed within walls , most people never know they have a problem.. and we’ve never had as much of a problem with improper construction in the past as we do now. Civilizations of the past knew how to construct homes with proper wood containing essential oils that inhibit mold growth. We’ve lost that knowledge.

I wonder what percentage of chronic illness today is a byproduct of our homes being constructed in this way. We have lost touch with an important faucet of the past - similarly as we have with proper food preparation , something that also hurts us unknowingly as a society.

I wonder if and when mold will make its debut to the general population. Whether people know it or not, this book shines like on how it is good for no one , & harmful to everyone. I’m hopeful that proper home construction - mold free, low EMF, etc. will be a pivotal movement in the next 10-20 years, and proper awareness will be brought to the attention of developers’ minds

Short overview of toxic mold. Pretty good, but not as in depth as i thought it would be. Mold is definitely on my list to be re-checked for this year.

4.5 stars. This is an excellent primer. As someone who has been dealing with the consequences of mold for years now, I already knew a lot of the information in this book - which is helpful to be reminded of and reinforced in my muddled brain, and I also learned new things - what I appreciate most is the clear path Dr Crista lays out for recovering. My health is a lot better than it was in the early years, but I still have a long way to go, and this books has encouraged me to hope again and to try (more) again. I think Dr Crista’s plan will help a few more puzzle pieces fall into place. The information is conveyed in a simple manner and the layout is easy to manage - perfect for the mold toxic brain to be able to engage with.

This is it!

This book is straight to the point and gives you exactly what knowledge you need to conquer mold illness.

I recommend you also look into CIRS if you are having crazy over reactive inflammation responses. In other words if you stub your toe and it hurts and or swells more than others. If you feel like you're aches and pains are adding up etc

This book is well organized and full of info. For someone new to mold exposure, it would be a fantastic resource. I did not personally learn anything new, but I’m well seasoned on this topic.

I wanted to get through this as fast as possible, learn the information and see if there are any tools I wasn’t aware of yet, and go back to pretending there’s no mold problem. Because it’s kind of a discouraging situation, and a depressing book, when the foundational “avoidance” isn’t a super feasible step to take right now. It was kind of an overwhelming read because of that. But I did learn a lot about how mold originates and grows and dies, both in buildings and in my body, and I’m hoping I can implement more of the tips sometime in the future when I’m able to move.

Dietary perspective is very plant-based. I don’t know that any animal products were encouraged except for beef liver and fish.

I have wanted to get my hands on this for awhile and am glad I could borrow a copy, the information in here is not surprising for those who already suspect water damage and mold in their homes that is affecting their health. I would have liked solutions and options for those living outside of US such as Singapore as the hot and humid climate is prime for mold.

Do note that the author is not medical doctor but a naturopathic doctor. It would be good for medical and western doctors to understand how environment such as mold in the home can affect patients healths and have therapy options besides medicine for them to consider.

It was daunting to look at the remediation solutions as not all houses are fine to remove large parts of the walls nor can everyone afford to just move out. It was surprising to see that so many symptoms you wouldn't normally associate with mold exposure such as allergies can be due to mold.

For those unfamiliar with mold illness, this is a great book to start with. It's overall a fairly easy and quick read, but packed with information. The references in the end of the book are fantastic. Sadly, not many people suspect mold illness when they have unexplainable symptoms, but in our clinic we have seen many patients adversely affected my mold and mycotoxins. I took one star off simply because at times the material seemed too basic, and I wasn't really sure if what she was recommending was scientific or simply anecdotal (which is still valubable). I feel the book is heavily catered towards the general public, and not towards medical professionals at all, which is fine. But if a medical professional reads the book, they may find the simplicity a bit offputting.

I’ve read this book a few times and reference it a lot when working with clients with mold sickness. It’s the first educational material I recommend for those who need an introduction on how mold can be the root cause of their many seemingly unrelated symptoms, the widespread health ramifications of mycotoxins, the correct way to inspect and remediate a moldy house, and the functional approach to healing. It helps greatly with initial buy-in and trusting the process, which can take months or even years. But even better, it provides hope of better days ahead to those who have been sick for as long as they can remember.

Clearly written for the layperson with little to no knowledge / understanding of mold exposure / toxicity. Lots of great information on accessible ways to detox mold and heal your body. She doesn’t claim to be THE expert and points you to others whom she has learned from. I look forward to using some of the things she mentions. Thank you Dr. Crista for making this information available!

Fairly complex science written in common language with lots of bold text to make it easy to quickly locate information. Told someone it was like taking everything i have learned in the last twenty years about mold and putting it in about 250 pages. Yet it is not watered down science, more conscience.

If you think you might be reacting to mold in your home, this is an essential read. Dr. Jill explains how mold works, how it impacts our bodies, and what to do about it. I’m a big believer in traditional medicine, but mold toxicity is not recognized by traditional medicine, so you will have to turn to functional doctors for guidance.

Dr. Jill is a fully-trained medical provider with naturopathic training. She experienced mold toxicity herself and understands both the impact and treatment really well. The content is very accessible and easily applicable. I used this as my handbook for a year-long mold detox and saw my health largely restored. I recommend the Kindle version so you can search for topics / words and find your highlights easily. It’s champagne naturopathic medical advice on a beer budget.

We need to know the information that is in this book. A complicated problem written in an easy-to-read format.
Warning- as she spells out the realities of the mold problems in the beginning, it is overwhelming and I had to take it in small doses. However, she then gently and simply leads you through solutions.

Dr. Crista takes a more naturopathic approach than say Dr. Nathan, Brewer, etc., and her resources and lists are longer so it might feel overwhelming. I just chose to pay more attention to certain parts and still felt I got useful info and advice.

Excellent, no nonsense guide to dealing with biotoxin illness caused by exposure to a water damaged environment! Enough science to satiate, but mostly a hands on guide to the cause, remedy and prevention of mold illness. Just what I needed after my test showed mycotoxins!

Excellent information, so glad this book came to my life. I looked for a root cause of my mystery chronic illness for 7 years before finding this. Confirmed it was mold toxicity, moved out of my house, and been feeling much better since. So thankful to this author.

Tons of great information and resources. Not claiming to be the definitive work on mold toxicity, but definitely worth a read, especially considering how accessible to the lay person it is.

The information was good but it was repetitive. Entire sections were verbatim copy and pasted.
