Who was Julius Caesar by Nico Medina is a 5 out of 5 stars because I had me understand someone who is born centuries ago but I understand who and what kind of man he is. He seems to be a fighter the very brave and take action for what he believes in. He’s outgoing and listens to others and their sides. But more so I see that he is much of a fighter and is very very good at it. As the book states he is man of the people by this they mean he would give up his life to save others because of that he was rewarded with the civic crown. He was making a name for himself. Not only was he a great fighter but he also seem to have an interest in politics. Who want to become a lawyer and help out with trials. Overall he seem almost like a hero and which is admired for. Once again I would read this book 5 out of 5 stars
"Who Was Julius Ceasar?" by Nico Medina is an amazing book about one of the most powerful rulers in history. Julius Ceasar is one of the most famous rulers in history. This biography explains his life in an informational but fun to read book all about what he did in his life. Some things that it talks about are his life in the army, as the leader of the Roman empire, and his death. My favorite part was when he was at the town center of Rome for a meeting as a kid because of I thought that it was cool that even though he was a kid he was with the leaders of the Roman empire.
This was a pretty good biography of Caesar. I would have given it 4 stars but I consider maps important and the maps in this book are terrible! They are very difficult to read. This is a solid 3.5 stars. Recommended. I learned things I hadn’t known from this one.
This was a very good book. It was quick and super readable. It had tons of information that taught me about him. Also I learned new things I didn't already know. I really don't like reading non-fiction books but this was really good.
This book was about Julius Caesar. It was a biography. It's about how a man came to be the 1st emperor of Rome. Also how he made one the most hugest empires ever. So this is really a good book to read.
I would recommend this to anyone. Mostly those who need a quick book or who like history. Obliviously this book has really no romance, drama, or suspense. It does however teach you about someone who might know but you don't. So that's why I'd recommend this book to those people.
The Who Was…? biography series are perfect for elementary or intermediate age students interested learning about the featured person for an assignment or just for an exciting read. The afterward portion in this edition has a timeline on one side showing key events in Julius Caesar's life and the opposite page shows worldwide key events during the same time period. Making for an interesting comparison and will help readers get a better feel for what else was happening at those times; a cool extra feature I haven't seen in many books
It is a wonderful book, indeed. If you would rather simple books that explain a whole subject in simple words and lines than those that are more complex, this is a great art, choice. It tells Caesar's biography in an engaging way, since his childhood to adulthood, ending with the so-known phrase "even you, my child?" Referring to Marcus Brutus when the senators were killing him.
This book was cool learning about Julius Caesar. He was born in Rome in 100 BC when he was a boy he was tall. He was a named after his dad. Fun fact his two sisters were both named Julia! He lived in a poor neighborhood. He also learned to ride a horse with no hands. He was a statesman and general. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Who Was Julius Caesar? by Nico Medina is a short but fact-filled book in the award-winning "Who Was..." series targeted specifically for the youth market. The author shares details about the life of Julius Caesar from his birth on July 13th 100 BC until his assassination by members of the Roman Senate during the Ides of March in 44 BC. The author covers his rise from what had been an ordinary life to his rapid rise in Roman politics holding numerous position of increasing importance. He also conducted military campaigns that brought him fame and wealth. After his return from success in the Gaulish Wars he then crossed the Rhine into what is now Germany and then becomes the first Roman general to travel to Britain. When he returned from his successful campaigns after many years away from Rome, he made his fateful decision to cross the Rubicon into Rome and set off a civil war. Once he also invades and captures Greece and Egypt he returned to Rome and became dictator for life. While he did many positive things for Rome, he also made many enemies along the way; this provoked the assassination in 44 BC. I found this to be well written and presented the major facts about Julius Caesar's life; great as an overview or refresher for other books I've read about him and the Roman Empire.
This is probably getting close to the tenth Who/Where/What Was/Is book that I've read and reviewed. So I'm just going to say that overall the series is really great for introducing kids into history. They are children's history so they're not going to be super detailed and maybe skirt around some of the more mature issues, but they also deal with some harsh realities at the same time. I feel they do a good mix and provide a good introduction to whatever they cover.
This one is focused on Julius Caesar and his life and accomplishments. I knew about Julius Caesar, but probably knew about his death on the 15th of March the most, so it was interesting to learn some more details about his life before he came to hold full power over Rome.
I don't really feel the need to elaborate too much. These books are well worth the read. I've been impressed with them and continue to be with this one. It's a great intro into Julius Caesar and even just the act of reading non-fiction in general for young readers.
I read "Who Was Julius Caeser?" by Nico Medina. Of course, it was about the one and only Julius Caeser who was born July 13, 100 B.C. He became the High Priest of Jupiter in 87 B.C. Three years later, he would go on to marry his first wife, Cornelia who he knew since he was a teen. Because Julius was such a brave soldier, he was awarded the corona civica. Soon, he because an advocate in Rome but shortly after, his wife and aunt both died the same year. This didn't prevent him from going to Spain, so he moved there. There, he was elected as governor of Spain. 11 years later, he becomes elected as consul of Rome when he comes back. Julius also became the first Roman general who has traveled to Britain. He also traveled to Egypt and met Cleopatra where she was declared queen and he defeated the army off Ptolemy XIII. Sadly, in 44 B.C., Caesar is betrayed by his own people and stabbed to death. This was a good book and was entertaining for me to read. I would recommend this to sixth graders or anyone because it was a quick read thay people can enjoy.
Who Was Julius Ceasar by Nico Medina is about Julius Ceasar and how he rose to power and why he was assassinated. I learned a lot of interesting facts about him. Like that both his sisters and his daughter were named Julia. Also that he had a child with Cleopatra. He joined the army because he was being hunted by a man named Sulla. He had may military campaigns but after many Roman citizens thought he was just killing other romans. He turned Rome into an empire and named himself dictator for life and he was eventually kill because of how Rome wasn’t a republic anymore. The book wasn’t overly challenging but has a lot of good information and side areas with important information.

The book “Who was Julius Caeser” by Nico Medina is a informational book. I rate it a 8/10 because it was very brief, easy to read, fun to read, and factual. Even though this book is easy to read I still love the fact that it has so much information and I would recommend it to all ages. I picked up this book when I saw it in the library and remembered hearing about him in social studies class so I figured why not. I also really enjoyed learning what amazing and bad actions he did. This book made me feel all types of emotions such as sad, happy, brave etc. I sure hope you buy this book because all in all, it is just good and short
The book"Who Was Julius Caesar?" by Nico Medina is a biography about a roman dictator who grew up poor, and decided to make a name for himself by proving that he was able to fight wars and stand his grounds. This man not only made himself from nothing into something but he also was a fierce soldier who faught Rome. I liked this book because it tells almost every detail of Julius' life, from how good of a horse man he was to how he bacame dictator of rome. Before I read this book I thought Julius Caesar was just a roman soldier, but now I know that he was a gladiator, father, poet, and most importantly a hero.
The rise and fall of this Roman leader is the subject of this biography for young readers. Julius Caesar’s reign took place 100 years before the birth of Jesus. He was a foxy politician, a skillful soldier, an impressive speaker, and a power-driven dictator.
I just completed reading the biography of Genghis Khan (part of this same series), and the commonalities of these two “leaders” are rather remarkable. Neither individual would I include as examples of servant leadership. The biography was concise and well written, but I found very little to glean from the life of the individual – except to beware the Ides of March – et tu, Brute!
106 pages. Great biography of an ancient leader in Rome. This book explains the struggles of the ancient world, including the following topics: religion, education in Rome, Roman Republic, Roman Forum, Spartacus, water system, known world, Alexander the Great, Gallic War. There are very helpful drawings and maps throughout the book to help a reader understand the concepts discussed. Highly recommended for Grade 5 and up.
Short children's book on a historically important person. 103 pages, filled with illustrations and written with basic vocabulary, large text font.
Not much to review. A cheat read to catch up to #52booksin52weeks for missed weeks. I think whole 100 pages could be devoted to a single event in Julius Caesar's life. Illustrations look amazing.
Conclusion: 3/5. Historical book for pre-school kids or for those just starting school.
The book "Who Was Julius Caesar" by Nico Medina was a pretty ok book. it didn't really talk about his childhood a lot. But it talked about him conquering many enemies and war and such things. it really was descriptive about his adulthoood and it was very full of amazing things he did. in all opinion there were some parts that were a bit boring but some were very interesting.
The tutoring nugget needs to read several biographies this year and this one she picked out. I may have influenced her choices a little. A smidge. I learned more about Caesar than I knew before! His life was fascinating and a bit chaotic. Did you know he was warned 3 times about the Ides of March?? Crazy peak into the life of a powerful man.
