If you’re going to own/read a single book on redwoods this is the one I’d recommend. It touches on all major aspects of the story of redwoods other books delve more deeply into, providing a great overview and enough detail that you don’t really need to read any other books unless you are passionate about the topic. The book is also large, ideal for beautiful photos - both color and black & white - and illustrations, many of which I’ve seen in other books about redwoods. This book is also fairly easy to find at a very reasonable price. The only downside to this book is that it was published in 1981, but most of the information is the same as you would find in more recent publications.
