THE TRUTH IS SCARIER THAN FICTION

Keri Wolf has joined the crew of The Seekers, a show that searches for paranormal phenomena, as they explore a supposedly haunted old inn on the road between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The place is famous for its warm welcome—and infamous for being the site of an ax murder rampage in the 1920s. They’ve barely begun when a very real dead body is discovered in the basement. As a nonfiction author, Keri is supposed to be the rational one, but she can’t explain a terrifying apparition that seems to be both a threat and a warning.

Former detective Joe Dunhill knows what she’s going through—the strange gift of being able to see and talk to the dead is a struggle he shares. A new member of the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, he’s on the team investigating the disturbing death. The town is steeped in old-fashioned superstition, and the deeper Joe and Keri plunge into the dark secrets of the inn, the closer they get to a devastating truth. Will a bloody history be repeated? Or can the spirits of the past reach out to stop a killer?

I want to thank the publisher Harlequin-Mira (US and Canada) and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this very good novel by Heather Graham!

This is a stand-alone novel and although it was #28 in the series if you enjoy the paranormal with some historical crime background and a touch of romance, then don't hesitate to read this book.

The story revolves around Keri Wolf, a historical crime novelist, Carl, a successful young and handsome actor who has purchased a historical tavern and inn (allegedly haunted) in Pennsylvania. Carl wants to renovate the inn but before he begins the work, he wants to call in a paranormal investigation team "The Truth Seekers" to see if they can find anything supernatural or be able to disclaim many of the ghostly rumors. Before the first night is over, a dead body is discovered (savagely murdered ) in the basement. Carl called his acquaintance Dallas who works for the FBI in a special sector named "The Krewe Of Hunters" who specialize in the strange and unusual cases of the FBI. This murder will take all involved on a trip into the past as well as the present with many twists and turns and a large assorted group of characters who will all play a part within the story when it reaches the final climax.

I enjoyed this story very much and will definitely read more of the "Krewe Of Hunters" series. I am a fan of Heather Graham's, although I haven't read one of her books in a few years ( not sure why ) since I always enjoy them. I noticed there are many mixed reviews about this one. If you don't enjoy paranormal stories and a lot of characters, maybe this is not your forte`. I found it very easy to follow and I also enjoyed the smidgen of romance thrown in, and I am not a big romance reader. This was a solid and entertaining story and I will be back for more!

I highly recommend and have given a rating of 4 Sinister 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Stars!!

It's been a few years since I read a Heather Graham book, and I don't honestly know why I got out of reading her since she's one of my favorite paranoamal authors. But I'm really happy that' I'm getting back into this series and discovering all of the ghostly fun again. And I had no problem jumping back into this series with such a late book, so I'd say it can definitely be read as a standalone.

The story did start off a little slow as all of the characters were introduced, but once we started to really get into the mystery there was tons of intrigue and I was captivated. I loved how the history of the Inn was weaved into the story so well and was made to be really interesting. Sometimes so much history in a book can make me feel like I'm reading a textbook since it's so stiff, but that wasn't the case at all and this author had me dying to find out more.

Overall, I'm certainly going to be going back and reading the books I missed from this series. Ms. Graham never fails to have me enthralled by her stories and it's like reading a true crime novel but with ghosts and just a little hint of romance involved. I can't wait to see what else she'll have in store for the Krewe of Hunters.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

Although I have read many books by this author, I have not read this particular series. I should have started from the beginning, as I always recommend to readers, but the opportunity arose from Netgalley. That being said, this one reads easily as a stand alone.

The Seekers is a show that searches for paranormal phenomena. Keri Wolf has recently joined the crew as she has the gift of being able to see and talk to the dead.

While researching and exploring a supposedly haunted inn well known for being the site of an ax murder in the early 1900s, the crew discover a very recent dead body in the basement.

Former Detective Joe Dunhill shares the same gift as Keri. He is a new member of the FBI's Krewe of Hunters, a member of the team investigating this newest murder victim.

Is history repeating itself? Who is the apparition they both can see?

For my first stroll through Heather Graham's world of paranormal, I found myself quite riveted to the story ... and the characters. I'm definitely going to take my own suggestion and go back and start at the beginning.

Many thanks to the author / Harlequin-Mira / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this mystery / suspense. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

When I was offered this book by the publisher through NetGalley, I wasn't sure it was a good idea to jump into the 28th book in the series but I took a chance anyway and found I enjoyed this police procedural with paranormal undertones very much. This actually might have been a good book to begin with because a new member is joining the special FBI task force known as the Krewe of Hunters, one Joe Dunhill, late of the Savannah Police Department, who is now going to train with the FBI.

Almost all the action in this mystery happens at the Miller Inn and Tavern in York County, PA, which is infamous for several grisly murders that were committed there back in 1926. A crew from the hit tv show 'The Truth Seekers' is there supposedly to see whether rumors of ghosts haunting the historic inn might be true.

Also part of the group is a true crime writer named Keri Wolf who specializes in digging into historic murder cases to see if she can uncover new facts--in this case, she wants to prove that the man who was killed by a lynch mob for the heinous murders was in fact innocent. At the inn is a museum with a fascinating collection of old photos and newspaper articles she can't wait to explore.

Before much work can be done however, a mutilated corpse is found in the basement of the inn, the body of FBI agent Julie Castro who was working on the kidnapping case of a wealthy NY teenager. Why was she brought there? Agent Dallas Wicker of the Krewe of Hunters is brought in to investigate, along with Joe as his consultant, much to the consternation of the local police detective, Catrina Billings.

Is it possible that the modern-day murder is somehow connected to the past? If so, could one or more of the inn's ghosts guide them to the truth?

The tension in the plot builds nicely as they piece the puzzle together with some good old-fashioned detective work. But can they complete the whole picture before someone else is killed? Some hair-raising situations, well-drawn characters, interesting historical facts and even a little romance complete this fascinating mystery.

Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with an arc via NetGalley for an honest review. I've found a new series to enjoy reading!

This book was easier to predict than the previous novel I read in the series. But it was still a good ghost/murder mystery. I like the characters even though Carl seemed very different in this one. Touch of a mild love story (same as last book I read in the series) and same concept of ghosts helping solve the case, although not as much as in the previous book. Again I enjoyed some of the historical aspects of the story. Not sure if I'll read any more in the series. They seem to be so similar in story, just different locations and a couple of different characters.

The Seekers is the 28th book in the Krewe of Hunters series. That's a lot of books! I'm not familiar with the series at all, but I was able to read this as a standalone fairly well. The premise is unique and exciting with this group of people who travel around and kind of catch or capture ghosts. It's definitely different in a good way. There are historical tidbits throughout that were informative and interesting. The characters are well developed and likeable, but I think some background information would have been helpful. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I can understand why this series is popular. I need to catch up and read the rest of the series now! Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

The Seekers is book 28 in the Krewe Hunters series by Heather Graham. I have never read anything by this author but my dad raves about her so when given the opportunity to read this book I jumped at the chance. Although this is along way into a long series I had absolutely no trouble following the story and the characters. In fact I feel the need to now go back to where it all began and read the series from the start. For me this was a very quick and fun read but not without its drama and gore. I really enjoyed my first Heather Graham read.

The Krewe Hunters are a group of agents which special abilities - they see and feel things that other people don't. After the brutal and ritualistic murder of a female FBI agent who was working on a kidnapping of a teenager, the Hunters are called in for their expertise. The victim was found in the basement of an old haunted house where historical non fiction writer Kerri is working with a group of ghost hunters on a web series. The crime scenes shows similarities with murders for the 1920's in the very same house. A story of paranormal activity, ghosts, murder and even a love story. This book has something for everyone and is definitely worth picking up.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harelquin MIRA US and Canada for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.

The seekers
A paranormal mystry that follows ghosts from the past, more recent deaths and a crew of people all trying to get it on camera while an investigation takes place.
The best way to describe this is on the show Supernatural there is a show within it called Ghostfacers. They hunt ghosts but dont really know what to do. These people know what to do but are sort of getting in the way of the investigation but also bringing forth important information that they wouldnt have been able to find without their paranormal expertise.

This will be released on July 23 by MIRA. All opinions are my own.

An intense murder-mystery that kept me turning the pages. Graham never fails to pull me in even on my twenty-seven adventure with the Krewe.

Kerri Wolf was asked to be a historian consultant during a Seekers Investigation of the haunted inn, owned by the famous movie star Carl Brentwood. Graham did an excellent job of feeding us local history, the inn’s background and laying out the grizzly murders.

Things turn upside down on their first night of recording and investigating when a dead body is discovered and Kerri believes she sees a woman dressed in white standing next to the victim.

Our FBI case opens with characters we met previously in The Summoning. So if you are looking to dive into the series for the first time, that is a good book to start with. Although each book contains its own murder-mystery and romance.

Joe Dunhill was the former Detective in Savannah who first called the FBI in on a missing persons case. He has been invited to join the Krewe of Hunters, but before attending training is pulled in to assist when the new owner of the haunted inn requested him. He will once again be working with Agent Dallas Wicker. The local police aren’t happy to have the FBI involved and believe the Seekers are responsible for the killing, but it turns out the victim is one of the FBI’s own and the inn wasn’t the initial murder scene.

The case was an interesting one, as those from the past come to Kerri with warnings and visions providing clues that help steer the Krewe towards solving the case. Kerri is paired off with Joe. The chemistry between them was fun, sometimes snarky, and I liked how it played out. The two travel, research the past, and find themselves in danger more than once. Quite a few times things were intense.

Graham served the romance on the side as the case took center stage, but it offered some tender moments, laughter and amped up the intensity. I enjoyed how Graham wove the past into the present from the case of the dead FBI agent was working and back around to the murders that took place at the inn long ago. It was clever and felt plausible. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

It has been ages since I read a Kewl of Hunters book by Heather Graham, and I was overjoyed when I got the opportunity to read this.

A kidnapping followed by a murder of the FBI agent and a ghost in white got the Kewl of Hunters, a branch of FBI dealing with the paranormal, to investigate. There was already the TV crew of ghost hunters in the haunted inn, of which historian novelist Keri was a part of. Agent Joe Dunhill along with boss Dallas met them at the inn where the dead body was posed admixt a lot of blood. A satanic cult from the 1920 was suspected, and the investigation rolled on.

Having read books in this series many years ago, this was book 28, it was still extremely easy to follow the proceedings. The author Heather Graham has given the cast of characters list at the beginning of the book. Both Joe and Keri could see the ghost which had a message from the grave. It was upto Keri to search the annals of books in the museum for the past and Joe to find the clues of the murder to get to the truth.

The story started slow, then soon picked up speed when the author brought the scary bits of history into the present. I was quite eager to know the story of the Ghosts. Joe was a cool dude, I wouldn't mind having a guy like him in my life. I wished Keri was braver. The plot had its great end reveal which quite shocked me. Didn't expect that person to be the leader. And the Ghosts were laid to rest.

It worked as a standalone and kept me quite hooked to the entire story. Heather Graham is a great storyteller who knows how to combine romance with suspense and supernatural. Overall, a fun afternoon.

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....

I'm going to let you in on a little secret, I haven't read a book in this series for a while. I'm not sure why. Okay, I know why I got out of romantic suspense and some of my favorite authors went with it. It wasn't like I didn't like suspense anymore, it was I just couldn't read it.

Because of that when I was asked if I wanted to review The Seekers my first thought was, no. But I thought about it and decided to give it a try. like I said, I really enjoy Graham's books so it would be a shame to say no.

I am so glad I didn't. The Seekers reminded me why I enjoy her books so much. She writes wonderful characters and I love how they interact with each other. Her writing draws you into the story and takes you to a different place.

The fun part of this story is the ghost part. I love those shows that are looking for ghosts. I watch them late at night than during the night when I use the bathroom I can't look in the mirror for fear of what I'll see.

Sure me with crazy hair but what else?

You'll love Kerri and Joe. Both are wonderful characters. I liked how their relationship developed. You felt like you were moving along with them.

I loved the ghost but wish they had a bigger roll in the story. The set up of the book was slightly slow but it does pick up, once it does the story really moves. It's funny how even with me being behind I jump right in and didn't feel like I was missing something. The Seekers is part of a series but can be read totally on its own. You'll love the ghost and the mystery that's happening right now.

I have now read the first book and the latest book in the Krewe of Hunters series and I think I have a grasp on what these are and how they'll fall into my reading. Diving into this book with only the knowledge of Phantom Evil, I will say that you are definitely able to read it as a standalone, but even a bit of background knowledge helps as so many elements from book 1 reappeared in book 2.

The fact that Graham takes the time to write these each as related but able to be read alone means that there is a bit of slow, dense introduction. It took a while to settle into the story because of all of the characters that needed to be introduced as well as the concepts of the Krewe and the elements of the mystery.

I really liked Joe but I wasn't enitre sold on Kerri. I like the blend in these books of paranormal, straightforward mystery and romance, but in this one, the balance was a little off. I actually wanted more romance and a little more from the characters. So far, too, I've liked the meat of the mystery, but am always a little confused by the resolution of it.

That all said, I absolutely fly through these books. They are perfect for peppering into readathons, taking on vacations or reading at the beach.

The Seekers is the 28th book in the Krewe of Hunters series, but it's the first one I've read.
Picking up this book, I had some doubt that I would be able to get into it, considering I hadn't read any of the others. However, I found it surprisingly easy cause it reads like a standalone.
The entire text is flooded with suspense and I really enjoyed it. I liked the story it had to offer as well as how the characters were developed. I loved how it was written and paced, it kept my attention throughout.
It's overall a solid read.

For me this was just okay. There is an episode at the beginning of the book where a characters sees a ghost and then it felt like most of the book was just rehashing that original incident. I never felt a strong connection to any of the characters (though that may be because this is book 28 in the series and the first I've read so I don't know the history of these characters). Overall, I wanted more tension and more actual plot.

3.5 stars. The Seekers kept me turning the pages—and constantly rethinking whom I suspected in the grisly murder of an FBI agent. As usual in a Krewe of Hunters novel, the present-day mystery is tied to events in the past, the hero and heroine can both see ghosts, and their attraction is nearly instantaneous… but this time, said attraction was offset by their initial irritation with each other. Both Keri and Joe are eminently likable, and despite their mutual prickliness, I had no question where things were headed; it was more a matter of when than if. I particularly liked Joe’s respectful, even courteous protectiveness. It isn’t machismo or alpha-male posturing; he treats Keri like an intelligent partner whose strengths and training lie elsewhere.

Sometimes the books in this series are a little too graphic or creepy for me, and this one came close a few times, particularly in the descriptions of what had been done to Agent Castro, and to the inn’s guests in the past. (shudder)

I also had a few reservations when it came to believability. As good a cop as Joe Dunhill is, he hasn’t been through the FBI academy yet, so he’s not an official member of the Krewe; nor is he still on the Savannah police force. (He was a secondary character in The Summoning.) The police and FBI can both be sticklers about turf, jurisdiction, and civilian involvement. The Krewe are a bit more laid back, but local cops and other FBI units might not be be. So I was surprised that Joe wasn’t challenged more often for acting as a full member of the investigation. There were also some logical leaps and assumptions that I’m not sure real agents would make, particularly in drawing parallels between the past and present. (That, too, is typical of this series; I’ve learned to live with it.)

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the suspenseful ride and the just-creepy-enough atmosphere, plowing through The Seekers at top speed to find out “what happens next.” And by the scenes just before the denouement, I had pegged almost all the characters’ guilt or innocence correctly, which is always gratifying. I like books that can keep me guessing, but I also like being able to figure out at least some of the mystery myself. The Seekers delivered on both counts.

I had not read anything by this author before and did not realize I was starting with book 28 in a series, but it read just fine as a standalone. I enjoyed this one, which is part of the "Krewe of Hunters" series and has paranormal elements as well as a bit of romance mixed in with the mystery/thriller genre and was very well done.

Keri Wolf has recently joined The Seekers, a show that goes around searching for paranormal activity, and as she has the gift of being able to see and talk to the dead, she is a perfect fit for the show. Former Detective Joe Dunhill shares the same gift as Keri, and has recently joined the FBI's "Krewe of Hunters" investigative team. Their two paths cross when Keri is at the site of an old inn that is supposedly haunted, and was the site of an ax murder in the early 1900s. However the crew discovers a dead body upon their arrival and Joe is part of the investigation into the murder.

I thought the paranormal element mixed in with the murder investigation was great, and I loved the relationship between Keri and Joe. Overall this was a great story that kept my attention from the beginning and I look forward to reading more of this series as well as other books by this author.

I have only read one other book in this rather long series, but I have started seeking them out :) I had no problems getting into this book and didn't feel like I was missing anything (although there clearly are recurring characters) - it works fine as a stand-alone.

This book takes place at a historic inn where a gruesome murder took place many years ago. Paranormal investigators are doing a show on the place (we've all seen similar shows), when events start repeating themselves. I liked the mix of mystery and ghosts, and I liked the setting. There is a bit of romance, but it is not overdone. I've already purchased several other Krewe of Hunters books because I enjoyed this one.

The Seekers is a show that searches for paranormal phenomena and Keri Wolf, a non-fiction writer, has joined the crew to investigate an old inn on the road between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The strange gift of being able to see and talk to the dead is a struggle that Keri and former detective Joe Dunhill shares and as a new member of the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, he’s sent in to investigate when Keri and the crew discover a very real body in the basement.

Another fantastic ghostly suspense from this bestselling author, one that sends delightful shivers down the spine and has readers biting their nails in anticipation. All the characters are strong and very vivid which makes it easy for readers to become completely caught up in the story and as for Joe and Keri, well their chemistry is strong and sizzles with lots of intensity. Their relationship is sweet and moves right along, despite all the happenings during the investigation and a makes quite a cheery contrast to the suspense of the plot.

The plot takes place at the perfect pace to build up the suspense as clues to the past are hard to come by and the spirits of the past are there to help. Heather Graham has gift for providing the right details and a wonderful setting for her stories which make it easy for readers to picture the story as it happens. Solving the crimes of the past to solve the crimes of the present makes the plot a bit complex and very intriguing and with unexpected surprises filling this adrenaline pumping story, there is no way for the readers to guess who the culprit is.

One of the Krewe of Hunters, though not as compelling as previous installments. In this tale, Keri Wolf, a writer, realizes that she has the gift of seeing ghosts even as she tries to understand what happened at an old inn thought to be haunted. While there, a murder occurs in much the same way a previous crime had occurred. Brought in to solve that murder is Joe Dunhill, a former detective, who also has the gift and may be joining the Krewe if he can make it through the FBI training. While Keri and Joe combine their efforts to solve the murder, they are shocked when the modern persons involve begin to come to light even as Keri sleepwalks into danger. Will she be the next victim?
