I really enjoyed 1st and last story, nothing very new in the trip to Egypt. I even skipped some pages even though the writing and plot were good, I just wanted him home with his wife. Once again these stories has the Hero getting badly beaten as he resolves all kinds of intrigue. Loved that he and his wife are closer than ever, and that the H is building a good relationship with her son too. Very good series and I'll watch for the next volume.
I really enjoy these mysteries. The author has a clear sense of place and the characters feel true to their time. The central character not only solves mysteries, but seeks to maintain a somewhat normal life in a dangerous time. The stories are complex, but not overly so and the solutions are reasonable. These are fun reads that feel just the right length. I look forward to following the characters along and see what happens in the future.
This is the third Captain Lacey books I have read, and I like them. They can stand on their own, but it is nice to read the continuation of characters through the series. Now to go find the earlier books and get caught up to this point.
Have been a fan of Captain Lacy books for several years. Always well written and interest holding. The secondary characters are as well written as the Captain. One of my favorite
