Sherwood compares a wealth of botanical art from different eras, although strangely our own modern times do not seem to be represented. The most modern works here date into the 1940's and 50's. That being said, the art from the time periods chosen are captivating, and the way that illustrations of similar species are grouped together drew me even further into the details. I look forward to enjoying more of Sherwood's books.
