Recruit heroes. Build an empire. Defend it with your life.

Talon and the Black Hats are notorious troublemakers in the online world of Haven. With a history of brash rebellion and legendary deeds, what are champions to do next?

Founding a headquarters is a good start, but the Black Hats aren’t the only empire builders in the land. As crusaders mobilize an army, assassins struggle for independence, and dissidents make waves in Stronghold, Haven’s tentative peace is threatened.

The gears of war are churning and Talon refuses to be crushed in the teeth. Enlisting the help of an old friend, Talon hatches an ingenious scheme to wrangle the embattled citizens of Haven to his cause.

Except there’s another plot shaping the virtual world, one meticulously devised by a ghost in the machine. The true fight, it turns out, started a long time ago, and the real battle may be one against legends.

If you like Ernest Cline, Aleron Kong, Travis Bagwell, Matt Dinniman, or Luke Chmilenko, then you are going to love Domino Finn's contribution to the never-back-down hero who works smarter not harder.

To be completely honest, I have to admit I’m not a gamer. Yes, my kids are which gives me enough knowledge to know a few things about gaming. Why am I saying that? Well, just in case you aren’t a gamer and are thinking of reading this book, don’t let that stop you. I really, really enjoyed this third book in the series, probably even more than the one before. The book is quite large, but I didn’t really notice as I enjoyed every single moment of it. Time flew swiftly as I was reading this well-written, full-of-action tome, and I really can’t wait to read more. I do recommend starting at the beginning at this point, though. Don’t hesitate to read this book and series; it’s well worth a read. Highly recommend!

I am an unrepentant north of 50 (there, I’ve admitted it - though I won’t say how far north) gamer, married to a gamer (the regular DM - don’t worry if you don’t recognize the ancient RPG term - in my college gaming club), and proud mom of two gamer kids. No wonder then that I’m delighted by the entire new LitRPG genre. It was pretty much made for me. Equally no wonder that I adore Domino Finn’s Afterlife Online series. It was pretty much made for everyone since it gives the perfect LitRPG experience while also providing a wonderfully written and truly epic adventure tale full of superbly crafted characters. That’s certainly been the case with its first two books (and this series should be read in order for maximum effect), and it’s absolutely the case with Trojan, it’s third book. “Recruit heroes. Build an empire. Defend it with your life.” I love that line from the publisher’s blurb. I love Trojan and the notorious troublemaking Black Hats. I love the plot of this book and the significant advancing of the underlying series story arc. I just plain love this book and I’m pretty sure you will too if any of the above is even remotely appealing. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Another nail in another series. Another rehash of the last book. The MC skating by author plotholes over and over again. Again it's all about the MC, it's his loot etc, it's his way. Like no one else would have a opinion to do something. He is a unlikable selfish dbag. The MC is a damn noob still and he is picking fights with city guardians AGAIN and not getting his ass pounded into the ground?

Great addition to the series

If I remember correctly, book 2 was a bit of a drag through about the first third of the story.

This time around, the author maintains engagement through it all, with plenty of action and character development.

Looking forward to the next installment.

I can't say this enough this is an amazing series an absolute masterpiece. This book and series shows how truly talented the author is. I absolutely love the way the author is able to write in the complexities and the fluid misdirection of the story without making the story feel sluggish or pill with this nonsensical fluff. This it's how you write a LitRPG.

Fantastic.

Enjoyed very much. Action was a steady fast pace and didnt lull at all. I recommend you read the previous books first as they all tie neatly into this one and you may be confused if you do not! You wont be disappointed!

Fun stuff

Story gets a little more epic this time around. The third city is brought in early and we get some action in shoreline again. Book really shines with the final battle which is quite large in scale and characters.

Fantastic and fun!!

This third book feels like the end of the series. Thank goodness I am not spoiling anything since the fourth book was announced. Can't wait. I started and go usher this book in one day. Should be asleep... Had to finish.

Get these books and read them.

You need to start reading the first book. And once you start the first book you will not stop reading till you finish the last one. Keep writing

It's been a while since I read book 2 in the series, so it took me several chapters to get back into the story. Barring that though, it was a pretty decent story, and I liked it.

started this series unbeknownst to me on the 3rd book. It wasn't difficult to pick up the innuendo to the past events in the story and felt it was a good book overall.

“Recruit heroes. Build an empire. Defend it with your life.”

This is the third book in a series, it is a good book, but it is highly dependent on the previous two books, Reboot and Black Hat, I suppose you could enjoy this volume independently, but you will miss a lot of the character building that Mr. Finn has done.

I enjoyed this book, it took me back to my old RPG days, when the rendering engine lived between your ears, but it should appeal to the more modern gamers too.
