Street Rap is the first book I've read from this author and it was a pretty good read. I enjoyed the characters in this story but Qwess was definitely my favorite. I respected the brother bond Qwess and Reece had for each other; they were really ride or die for each other. This story was one full of dealings, revenge, betrayal, loss and some added twists along the way. It all about making money and staying on top but falling in love could be the downfall for this ride or die crew. I enjoyed a few laughs along the way and I wish I could have related to the characters in this book on some level. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I could have, but with this story being full of male leading characters it was hard. Overall, it was a good read and the ending left me wanting to know if there will be a follow-up book to this story. I still have some unanswered questions about Reece and Destiny.

Ride along with Reece and Qwess as these two friends strive to make money and achieve greatness. After serving time in jail, Qwess is ready to make legitimate money by rapping, giving up the life of a drug dealer and the Crescent Crew gang. Reece is driving down a different road, loving his life as king of the streets and making bank off of the drug trade. Both Crescent Crew friends pursue their dreams for wealth and power relentlessly. Ford’s voice gives depth to the violence and ruthlessness of the streets, easily differentiated between the many characters. Ford balances the fine line between narration and dialogue in this fast paced street thriller. He also gives credence to the explicit scenes of sex and violence, immersing listeners in the thug life. Readers of Al-Saadiq Banks and JaQuavis Coleman will enjoy the first installment of the Crescent Crew Series.

This book was really good. Qwess and Reece are best friends/brothers in a gang called the Crescent Crew. Qwess did a bid in prison but decided to get out of the streets and become a rapper. With Reece running the gang and working his way up to become King Reece, kills were fueling his power trip. Read this 1st book of the Crescent Crew series to find out how long his reign is and what came to disthrone him. On to the 2nd book!

It is hard to find a redeeming quality in this book--the moral inconsistencies are staggering, the lack of any effort to portray the reality of gun play or firefights is laughable, and there is no attempt to point out pitfalls inherent in the gangsta life despite their obvious presence. A complete joke on the reader.

My first time reading anything by the author. This book was fast paced and sometimes gruesome but fun and exciting all at the same time. It puts you in the mind frame of New Jack City but with a way better ending.

read an excerpt of part 2 of this series so I knew what was coming. Still, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the series.
