They say the future is uncertain... But what happens if I have no past?
I don’t remember giving birth. I don’t remember my name, my family, or where I come from. I don’t remember…anything.
The only clue to my past rests in a bundle of blankets swaddled in my arms—a newborn baby girl.
With no leads and no family able to find me, the only way I can learn the truth is if I recover my lost memories myself. Fortunately, I have help.
Detective Shepard Novak, the gorgeous, blue-eyed police officer assigned to my case, is determined to uncover the mystery—and with it, my secrets. But as the days become weeks, the only memories I keep are the ones we’ve made together.
I shouldn’t feel the way I do for him, and I shouldn’t have let him get this close. But I can’t remember a life before him…and I’m not sure I want to search anymore.
Is it worth sacrificing my past for a chance at our future?
Major props to Sosie Frost for putting an ingenious spin on a favorite trope of mine. I've read a slew of secret baby books, but never thought I'd come across a secret Mommy/Daddy book. Yep, you read that right! Secret Mommy! Jane "Evie" Doe wakes up in the hospital with no memory after an unfortunate incident with an ice cream truck. She has no memory of her name, her family, nor the fact that she just gave birth to a baby girl. For the most part, I really enjoyed Evie's character. She's witty, self-deprecating, and sarcastic as hell. She's obviously dealing with a very difficult situation, but she never loses her snark and sense of humor. Shepard Novak, the lead Detective on Evie's case goes above and beyond the call of duty to assist with her memory and her newborn baby. Shepard is sweet, handsome, hard-working, and an all-around good guy. The story is well done. It's funny, entertaining, and emotional. I had some issues with the OTT drama and completely unbelievable situations that occur, but I laughed through them all. I think it says a lot when you can still laugh at something you find utterly ridiculous. Well done Ms. Frost! Overall, this is a super cute and very engaging read. And I forgot to mention...that cover is EVERYTHING! *fans self*
All the stars! Great love story and mysterious, and I love great banter, and this book had plenty. I loved it! Will re-read. My favorite Sosie Frost book thus far! Recommend to everyone!!
Jane Doe aka Evie has lost her memory and finds herself in the hospital after being hit by an ice cream truck. Hit and run withstanding she'd still be going to the hospital anyway ... to have her baby! A baby she didn't know she'd given birth to until the doctor springs the surprise news on her. With no family or friends coming forward on her behalf and nowhere to go, she receives financial assistance from Lachlan's Foundation for single parents.
Days later Detective Shepard Novak has been assigned to her case. The case stalls as there are no new clues to her identity. He suggests that she revisits that day in her memory over and over again in hopes of sparking a clue that he can follow up on. Speaking of the word clue, Clue is the nickname Evie gives her daughter, though formally and temporarily she has named her Suzette -- yes, after crepes that she had for breakfast one morning.
Without any solid leads in solving her identity, Evie decides to take matters into her own hands much to the consternation of Detective Novak. He's concerned for her safety and she's worried that someone who loves her is desperately looking for her. Through her efforts to get her life back someone from her past finds her and is able to provide some crucial clues. Now Evie needs to search for answers within herself ... Is remembering the past relevant to her future? This question and more are answered.

OH MY!! This was a beautiful and emotional read about never forgetting what truly matters. This is a stand-alone HEA set in the Rivets series about Evie who has amnesia and has found out she has just given birth . She has no memories, just blank memories. Now the hunt is on to find out who her baby daddy is, and who she truly is. The story grabs you from page one til the very last page. I loved Evie’s tenacity and drive, never giving up. Her zest for life, even in the face of the unknowing, makes her one of my favorite heroines that I have read of late. Ask yourself what would you do if you woke up in hospital with no memory and then faced with a new baby and an achy body? Oh and a body that has no memories of the pregnancy? Something is wrong in Evie’s world and now she has to find those memories and that is where Detective Shepard Novak comes to her rescue. He seems to be around when she needs something and he is always prompting her with clues to help with her case. Is he really trying to help her find her way back home or is there something else he wants, namely Evie? He is intent on being there , always. Especially wanting to help with the baby who has a very cute nickname that was given. There are twists and turns in this beautiful and sweet romance story about how love – Evie got tired of waiting and started searching for the truth. What she finds out makes the twist sharp and deep- does her memories come back , and if they do, will she stay with Shepared? – What I loved is the theme about Déjà vu which is” Love is not an emotion, love is a promise. “ Shepard shows in so many ways his love was a promise, because it was so much more than an emotion. You will see why. Evie is such a firecracker and Shepard is so hot, so alpha and protective. Gah, I was so sad when the book was over. I would love to see how their life was like several years into the future. I cannot think of enough good things to say about this book.
My rating: 4.7 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Unforgettable was previously titled Deja Vu. Same BWWM Romantic Comedy but redesigned with a brand new cover!
Sosie Frost is the queen of secret baby romances but I don't think I've ever seen one where the baby is a secret from the mama. LOL Deja Vu is a cute romance contemporary about a young pregnant woman who is hit by an ice cream truck and wakes up in the hospital with no memory. The book deals with her attempts to recover her memory while struggling to be a single mother and trying not to fall for the sexy cop who wants to help her. Frost does an excellent job with the amenia storyline though I felt it constricted the story in that the heroine could only evolve as much as her memory allowed. The heroine's wit and general good nature is a hit and watching her with the baby is hilarious. The conflict was convoluted and I questioned not only how long it took to resolve but some of the actions of the hero. Not my favorite from Frost but still entertaining.
An entertaining love story, mysterious, and some remarkable characters. Evie was a really funny heroine that has a great personality and overflows with sarcasm (that's the part that entertained me the most in the book) with Her adventures of being a new mom that that was a little over the top but still funny and entertaining. Susie Frost is a new writer for me, I will be checking out more from this Author.
I did enjoy reading this amnesia trope romance book. It had just enough spice and suspense to keep me entertained. Plus the fmc was witty and there was some really funny scenes where humorous disasters followed her and her baby.
Deja Vu is about "Evie Doe", a pregnant woman who was hit by an ice cream truck and went into labor. The problem is, when we meet her in the opening of the story, she has no idea who she is, what put her in the hospital, and certainly not that she gave birth! Sosie set this book in Ironfield, so we get a few characters from her other Ironfield books to make an appearance (or at least an acknowledgement). Rory Owens (from Happily Ever All-Star) is Evie's neurologist (and Jude Owens makes an apperance). Elle Reed (from Once Upon A Half-Time) makes an appearance as a photographer, and Lachlan Reed is acknowledged as the founder of Family First, the charity helping Evie and her newborn daughter, nicknamed "Clue" as she is Evie's only clue to her identity.
The detective assigned to Evie's case is Shepard Novak. Evie is taken with him immediately. They spend a lot of time together, trying to figure out anything to trigger her memories to come back. In the process, Evie realizes she is developing feelings for Shepard and is feeling guilty since she knows the baby's father is somewhere out there looking for her and the baby...isn't he? Isn't anyone?
I don't give spoilers, so that is as much of the story as I'll give. I was hooked from chapter one and wanted so much for Evie to remember who she was, and especially who the father was. And what would happen with Evie and Shepard once her memories did come back or the father showed up? I could not stop reading, even reading in a movie theater until just before the lights went down! Which is why I'm up at 3am writing this review. I absolutely LOVED this book and am planning on going back to start from the beginning and reading it all over again, now that I know what happens! Do you want to find out? Get your copy and enjoy it as much as I did!
Déjà vu by Sosie Frost a definite look twice five-star read. This is a stand-alone HEA that does give us hero’s and damsels in distress. It’s a great story and grabs you in from the first page and keeps you hooked until the last page. The book focuses on Evie and Shepard. What would you do if you woke up in hospital with no memory, a body that fells like you have hit by a truck and a baby you don’t remember being pregnant with? That’s what happens to Jane “Evie” Doe. She can’t remember anything, her family, her name, anything about herself. The only thing that gives her a clue about her identity is the baby girl in her arms. She nickname’s her Clue while she tries to decide on a name. After being sent home from hospital with a baby in her arms she is given a home and some financial help from a charity she starts to try and find out who she is, only thing is she will need some help. Help comes in the form of Detective Shepard Novak her hero in a uniform, he starts and investigation to find out who she is but until she starts to remember he has nothing to go on, as they start to get closer she feels guilty as she knows she has a baby daddy out there who must be missing her, but she can’t help falling for Shepard in all his duck saving glory. As the weeks go on Evie starts to wonder if she will ever get her memories back, and starts to wonder if she wants them back. Shepard Novak is a man I would happily have amnesia to find. Will Evie choose to forget her past and cling to a future with Shepard or will she give him up for a future with Clue and her memories. Sosie Frost writes characters that have such depth and believability to them that you can’t help but feel heartbroken for them, sobbing when they do and falling in love as they do also.
RECEIVED FOR HONEST REVIEW cute story. This was not my favorite Sosie romance but it was entertaining. It took a long time to resolve. Evie was funny. Her adventures with being a new mom a little over the top but still funny. When you are in the moment you can appreciate it more. To most new moms things can get extreme. Our hero was attentive and patient. He let his identity out of the bag pretty early to the reader, so it made the story go on too long. Overall it still has it funny and cute moments, I enjoyed reading the story and would recommend.
This was a great story. My first read by this author. I enjoyed it. It kept me interested. Shepard, Shepard what we do for love. He loved Evie with every fiber of his being. But what he did was wrong. Only problem I had with the story, is did she honestly name that child Clue. Could have resolved this Sosie. I will definitely read more of her work.
It has been awhile since I have written a review because nothing lately moved me. This story was a journey that I enjoyed taking. With its high and lows the story moved me. Thank you Sosie Frost.
I wanted to like this story, but had so many issues with it. The imbalance of power, consent issues, and level of deception were just too high. There were quite a few very funny scenes and good writing throughout, but the plot just didn't work for me.
Deja Vu bySosie Frost. I have mixed feelings about this read. There were some funny, silly, sweet, and sad times. For me, the silly was too much. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Second chances do exist, but only if an ice cream truck is involved. 🍦🚚
This book is about second chances. When you start reading this book you kind of have a general idea of who Evie is to Shepherd but you don't really want to know. I was so invested in them to as a couple that I was just like Evie completely oblivious to the feelings they both have for one another. Shepherd is someone who 'found' Evie in labor after her ice cream truck incident.
A lot of the book was Evie trying to figure out who she was and where she came from. However, there is a secondary layer to the story that should have been explored more. When Evie gets close to figuring out who she was we realize that there was is a crime family and mob that is running around the city. I don't want to know what happened to the secondary, be it very small, plot. I would love it if it was explored maybe in another book but when an author leaves certain plotlines open it frustrates me. Especially since this is a supposed stand-alone novel. There was also a scene when child services protection came to Evie's house but yet that was resolved as well? There are certain loose ends that I want tied in a neat bow that I'm not getting within this story.
I love that Evie called her daughter Clue and over the course of the story she fell in love with her baby. I love the fact that she did not just give her daughter up even though she did not initially feel a bond with her but she stuck it out and said this is my baby and this is what's going to happen. We do know that she was very excited for her daughter because the little detail stating that she had pink paint on her when she was in an accident and that she was well-fed and she was not on drugs. I enjoyed the fact that this book is an offshoot of another series that I enjoy, Sosi's Touchdowns and Tiaras series.
SN: The scene at the pediatrician and at the grocery store had me cackling out loud.
Now that was a book I will want to read over and over again! Talk about a perfect mixture of laugh out loud events, heartache to heart mend, some sexy romance and a little mystery is thrown in to liven up the already jumping party! Well defined characters ( I loved Shepard, I mean the ducks ** sigh ** ) with down to earth relatable qualities, and nicely paced storyline it was easy to see why this crazy good storyline unique stylings made it an all-consuming, cover to digital cover read for me that grabbed my attention but my heart as well! The intriguing relationship between Evie and hero Shepard was one I will not soon forget * winks * I won't give you the synopsis of this story- it is one you need to read- all I will say is- I highly suggest checking this book out for yourself- its well worth it! Just be prepared, to laugh yourself silly, swoon, awe over Evie, Clue, and Shepard's fantastic story! #ONECLICK Material!
Deja Vu was a great romance read that was sweet and funny. I absolutely loved Shepards character. I loved how supportive he was to Evie and enjoyed how he tried to help her regain her memory. It was funny and heartfelt reading how Evie was as a new mom. There were definitely some funny, over the top, sweet and predictable parts but overall, this was a great romance story that will leave readers with a smile on their face.
Evie has woken in the hospital with no memory of who she is. The biggest shocker...the doctor hands her baby and tells Evie she gave birth when she was brought in. Through the charity of others, Evie tries to find some form of normal for her and her daughter. She's trying to think of ways to uncover her past when Detective Shepard Novak knocks on her door. He goes out of his way to help her and a special bond forms. Evie really wants to remember her past, but would that mean giving up a future with Shepard? Is her past worth remembering anyway? Deja Vu is a very predictable book, BUT it was still entertaining to read. At times Evie's sarcasm was a bit much, but the other times added a nice bit of humor. The banter between Evie and Shepard had to be the best part...witty and flirty. There were times Shepard's heroics seemed exaggerated to the point of ridiculousness, and I'm not sure if that was intentional. Possibly so, as Evie mentioned it herself. This book isn't perfect, but it's worth giving a try. I give Deja Vu 3 stars, maybe even 3.5 stars. I was gifted a copy of this book via Hidden Gems Books and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read straight through to the 50% mark and then skipped to the final three chapters. I had to take a pause when a fight between mothers broke out at the doctor's office and SWAT was called in. Ridiculous. I won't even get into the baby talk, and I do mean that literally, the two main characters engaged in in one particular scene. I'm all for humor and suspending disbelief but as someone else pointed out, the hijinks in this was too much and wandered over into Three Stooges territory. I didn't feel a shred of chemistry between Evie and Shepard, which was disappointing because the premise of the story was interesting enough if not predictable. I don't think I'm going to try any other works by this author. This book wasn't for me but it might be for you.
I enjoyed this story. It was lighter than the author's usual books - I really need/want her to revisit the sexy and forbidden story like her book "Sweetest Sin" - and there was more comedy but it was super enjoyable. While the mystery is not complex, it doesn't detract from the entertainment level of the romance. Shepard and Evie are a fun pairing and little Clue is a heroine in diapers. I found myself laughing aloud several times as it's definitely a rom-com story heavy on both the comedy and romance.
If you're a fan of Sosie Frost, you'll definitely like it and if you're looking for a book to try by her, this is good start.
I was liking the sarcastic wit of Evie in the very beginning but then the attempted humor got to be too much that it wasn't amusing anymore (grocery parking lot, pediatrician's waiting room, etc). You could easily piece together who Shepard was to Evie. What happened to her and why was a little odd but probably the only unpredictable part. The reconciliation at the end will give you whiplash, it was such a quick turnaround from anger to forgiveness/love. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked this book a lot - it was funny and while the hero's identity was obvious from the beginning, the story of why he was nervous about her remembering him was kind of unexpected until the very end. Speaking of the very end, that was my one complaint. She forgave him SO FAST after swearing it was over and she never wanted to see him again. I mean, so fast! But other than that, I enjoyed this book, and there were several scenes/bits of dialogue that were laugh out loud funny.
Book was so boring I skipped half of it to go right to the end and still understood it. I knew who the baby's daddy was from the first clue no pun on the kids name. I've never given a book a one star before and this book was recommended by someone I trust. Nevercagain.
Evie & Shepard were just amazing. I didn't expect this book to be so funny yet very emotional at times. I really enjoyed it. My first book by this author.
