Raised by her father on the East Coast, Logan Kessler, was as far-removed as she could be from the world of Hollywood where her mother, an A-List actress, made a name for herself. Only gaining snippets of what life in Hollywood was like from the summers she spent with her mom, she didn’t know how much she didn’t want to be a part of that world until her face was splayed across the tabloids linking her to up-and-coming actor, Garrett Lewis, a friend from her childhood who was just that – a friend.
But the paparazzi seem to think otherwise. So when she moves to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, Logan just wants to lay low and avoid the celebrity scene as much as she can. But that becomes harder than she thinks when she meets the famous Jason “Jase” Brady at a party. Of course all of her assumptions about one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood are shot down when she realizes that Jase is one of the sweetest, most unassuming, adorable guys she’s ever met, and he’s so down to earth. How could she not like him?
But in Hollywood, appearances can be deceiving. Jase has secrets in his past that he knows could come back to haunt him at any moment. He can’t leave his house without getting swarmed by women who want a piece of him, and the paparazzi seem to always be lying in wait to capture his every move. Logan soon realizes that dating one of the hottest actors in the world has some major drawbacks, but is she willing to put those aside for the person Jase is on the inside? Can she love someone who comes with a whole world of baggage she never planned to carry?
Monica Alexander is a writer of contemporary, new adult, and young adult fiction. In 2011, she turned her lifelong love of reading and books into a career when she published her first novel, “Just Watch the Fireworks”. When she's not reading and writing, you can find her at the beach, in the mountains, or hiking through a city, soaking all the beauty of the world around her and turning her experiences into inspiration for her next book.
I really enjoyed this book but it ended too soon! Not exactly a cliffhanger but a "To Be Continued"!! Ughhh, I need more!!! I LOVEEEE Logan & Jase together!! I LOVEEEE her bff's, ETHAN (especially him), GARRETT, & HENLEY!!! I also enjoyed her little sister, SKYLAR!! I loved how close she was to brothers, Ethan & Garrett! Their friendship was very SPECIAL...I could feel it spewing from my kindle fire!! VERY SPECIAL INDEED ;) In the beginning, I was hoping for a Ethan/Logan relationship because the bond they shared was so SWEET & HEART-WARMING! But as the story continued, it felt more brotherly/sisterly to me! I started feeling the connection with Jace & Logan & was rooting for them! I really hope as the story continues in book 2 that Jace & Logan find their HEA!! I want Ethan to find his as well! I was hoping that Ethan would end up with Henley but since she has hooked up with Garrett, Ethan's brother, that wouldn't be cool! Maybe Ethan will fall in LOVE with Ellie...& Garrett & Henley will find their way back to each other! Guess we'll have to wait & see! I'm hoping book 2 will be released SOON!
Would have given 5 STARS but I feel like I needed MORE! I feel cheated because of how it ended!! Don't get me WRONG, it's a GREAT read! I'm just SELFISH when it comes to my books :))
This probably would have been 4 stars if it hadn't been for a couple of things. One was the complete hypocrisy of the main character. She jumped to conclusions and made judgements about Jase and wouldn't even talk to him, but when he got angry in a situation and didn't want to listen she didn't understand why he was so unreasonable, that he didn't just trust her. Pot, meet kettle.
The second thing that bugged me is that most of the characters seemed a bit schizophrenic. They were described in one way and acted one way, but then they did something that seemed completely at odds with the way we had seen them before. This made it hard to know the characters or identify with any of them.
Finally the ending does wrap up the story to a decent degree, but it's followed by the words "to be continued..." which really makes me feel like I was cheated out of a full story or ending. I can't say that I disliked this story, because there were definitely fun aspects of it, but I didn't really connect with it at all either.
I originally gave this one four stars, but since I finished it the problems I had with it have refused to fade away, in fact they've really bugged me a lot!
SPOILER......... Logan (the heroine) is sexually assaulted, okay she's not actually raped but she is still sexually assaulted and this is just sort of pushed to one side! She actually says oh well I'm underage and had been drinking and therefore no one will believe me and anyway nothing really happened, and NO ONE ARGUES WITH HER!! (Okay a couple of the characters make token protests but nothing very decisive) Hello.... her attacker hit her... against her will, confined her... against her will and touched her intimately... again against her will!!! this is the very definition of SOMETHING HAPPENED!!! She is saved, goes home, has a bath and sends her clothes out for dry cleaning!!! Have these people ever heard of DNA! Have they ever watched an episode of CSI or Law and Order! She later reports her attack to the police so it's on file, she never even considers that there could have been a prosecution! and no reference is made to the fact that she had unwittingly destroyed all the evidence with her actions! Ethan (her BFF) beats up the guy and reports him for supplying alcohol to minors, so he will have to spend a night in jail, and she's HAPPY with this! There are no consequences whatsoever for the perpetrator! And after the visit to the police station I don't think the attack is ever referred to again! This was quite frankly bizarre and left a really nasty taste in my mouth. Sexual assault as a plot device is not appropriate at all! It is most women's definition of a worst nightmare and it really made me angry to read about it being dealt with this way! If it was just a device to bring the h and H together then have the offender back her into a corner, be aggressive or kiss her when she doesn't want him to and the have the H save her. It did not need to be such a serious assault if there weren't going to be any ramifications from it!
Anyway rant over... Other than that it was quite a sweet book and I liked the characters very much, I might have even given it 4 1/2* if it hadn't been for the way the scene above was handled, but as it stands it's probably 2 1/2* and is lucky to get that which is a real shame!

Another excellent book from Monica Alexander. I say this even with the book have minor grammar and editing errors. Monica has a way of bringing the characters of her book to life. A way making them seem real, with real challenges that we all face sometime in out lives. I can say personally myself, it is easier to be friends with males. I've been there so I understand Logan. I also understand how Ethan can have the feelings he states he has for Logan and I also understand Jase questioning their friendship. Logan and Ethan have always been there for one another and the thought of not having each other in their lives is earth shattering. Jase has been hurt in the past, lied to and cheated on. However, for just a second he pushed Logan away with the assumption she committed the same wrong doings as his ex. It takes a really long time friend like Ethan to place his feelings for Logan aside for her happiness and except the feelings she has for Jase.
Friendship is is one where you put your friends whats and needs above yours when it is necessary for them to be happy in case of love. Logan will always love Ethan and he knows that, he just needed a reminder. Not having Logan in his life was something he wasn't willing to accept. He wanted her anyway he could have her and if that meant accepting Jase, then that's what he would do.
Can wait for the second book in the series. April can't get here sooner.
Oh my holy hell! I cannot say enough good things about this book! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I read it in one day! I fell in love with Logan and Jase! Both Logan and Jase made me frustrated with their actions at certain points in the book! The sexual chemistry between them was fantastic! Loved Garrett and Ethan as well! I am DYING to read the next book in the series!
This is the first in a series, doesn't end in a cliff hanger so it can be left as a stand alone book. I liked the characters although was a little put out at one point when Logan didn't ask Jase about an incident just took someone else's word for it. Awesome read.
Another good read :) I'm loving the whole falling in love with a famous dude story line, and this book doesn't disappoint! I love that the first meeting of Jase and Logan is a simple meet at a party abd the story begins from there :) Logan is already one that knows first hand what its like to be around the limelight, seeing as her mother is a famous Hollywood actress, but she is a lousy mother. The good thing is that her father is down to earth and loving.
The pool scene made me cringe and shout out loud, and i was calling her stupid for even getting herself in that position and not using her common sense, tho life rarely is simple. Definitely take a chance on this novel. Bring on book 2!
I adored this book and these characters! Monica Alexander is my new favorite indie author! She creates fluid imagery without being "wordy" or overly descriptive, and manages to portray characters and scenarios that feel real and appropriate to the situations in the book. I really really love books about "normal" people and relationships they form with celebrities and this book absolutely did not disappoint. I am anxiously awaiting book two due out in May!
4 1/2 stars...You really cannot go wrong with anything by Monica Alexander...seriously a great author! I loved Logan and Jase and thought their characters were great with great supporting characters as well. I knew this story was going to be continued in another book, but it doesn't have a cliffhanger ending, so I thought I was safe reading it, but no I want the next one now!
So just how long till the second book? I'm waiting impatiently for it because I can't wait to see how this is going to go. I also really like how there's a playlist of music listened to in this book, because I always get a shock that there are other people who listen to bands I love.
4/5 stars. Really liked it. I was reading the first chapter, and it's like a good feeling. you just KNOW this is going the be one hell of a read. This author hasn't let me down in one of her books.Looking forward to continue the story.
This was surprisingly VERY entertaining! Monica it actually felt like i was physically there in the room with Logan while she was being assaulted! i found myself tensing up, a book rarely gets to me like that, awesome book i can't wait to read Gravity Happens!
I love this story so much. I love the characters they are very well written and was easy sucked into the story. There are some minor grammar errors but the author really did a great job!!!!! Will continue to read anything she writes!!!!!!
Oh, Monica Alexander, you're AWESOME!! I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next one!! Hurry, please!!!
Loved it! Read it in just one day, and this book is like a rollercoaster of emotions, but it's just adorable. Can't wait to see where Logan's story goes next!
This book really hit the spot. Just what I was looking for right now. It was a first read from Monica Alexandra for me and I think I'll definitely check out some more.
I really enjoyed this book. Never over done or too much angst. Sweet love story and loved Logan in her strong and payed back individual way. Will be reading the next in this series. 4.5 stars.
