Ailin~ The demon gate needs to be sealed, at least from higher level demons. I may be the most powerful witch in the world right now, but I know I can’t do it alone. No one wants to help and risk their lives for the greater good, not that I can blame them, really. It kills me to ask my boyfriend, Emrys, but I suck it up because his magic is nearly as powerful as my own. He doesn’t want to help at first, but let’s just say I can be very persuasive.
Emrys~ Maybe he should’ve listened to me, maybe we never should’ve gone to the gate. Terrible things unfold, and Ailin and I are torn apart, our love ripped to shreds. My life is forever changed, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
In the Witch’s Seal, you’ll discover some secrets from Ailin, Emrys, and even Alec. Find out what really happened between Ailin and Emrys before the events in The Enchanter’s Flame took place, but it's recommended that you read Book 1 first.
***The Witch’s Seal is the prequel to The Enchanter’s Flame: The Ellwood Chronicles I. It contains explicit material and is intended for mature adults 18 and over.***
Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.
She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

I'm not a fan of flashbacks. I prefer it when I can read stories in a linear order. That's why it took me a while before I could bring myself to read this short interlude. Yes it explains some question marks I had with book one, I still can't get over the fact that I don't like time jumps, sorry. However, this is really well written and I did enjoy the story. It's just a shame that I can't really remember everything from book one and now I don't know how to go from here to book two. Still, I finally understand Ailin Talamh Ellwood a lot better. And I have to say, I really do like this character.
I’d been alone for a long time. I may have been surrounded by people all the time, surrounded by my coven members, but I’d been so damn lonely. Even when I was with my ex, I’d been lonely because he’d been human and unaware of my world, and he’d freaked when I’d finally told him what I was. 💞😢💞
The magic and creatures are interesting and I'm super curious about all the supporting cast too... this is going to be a piece of work for me, let's see how many years it takes me to read all the Ellwood stories.
Wow, this book made me sad-mad and happy! I know, right!? It's a wonderful novella that explains a lot of things about The Enchanter's Flame and some things that happened there. I didn't want to like Emrys but he is such a great guy. What happened with him is so unfair but I think it had to happen in order for both Ailin and Emrys to have time to heal so that when Ailin meets Sebastian he can let him in. (Their first meeting through Ailin's eyes is so cute and funny! *goosebumps*) It would have been bad if they were still together and Seb entered the picture. This way it made things easier. Not that heartbreak is ever easy.
This book has 3 POVs that of Ailin, Emrys and Alec who is chief of police when we first meet him in The Enchanter's Flame. It tells us how he came to be in Ailin's coven. There is only assumption of intimacy in the book. I am glad because I didn't want Emrys to be a sex god. I love Seb and I wanted him to have a little advantage over Emrys. He has known Ailin longer, loved him longer and I am sure he was great in the sack and gorgeous, so if I were Seb I would feel a little pissed and not so little intimidated by his memory and proximity. Yes, call me the Queen of Pettiness!
I really like this series and all the characters. I do hope that Emrys finds his viramore and gets his happiness. I am pretty sure I guess who it might be, although it's strange that Emrys himself does not. There must dark magic afoot! Great story! I will wait for the next book with anticipation and a huge chocolate bar! I highly recommend it!

Now we know what happened between Em and Allin! Secrets are reveled and loved that I could read Allin's Pov. Aaaand is Julius, Em's soulmate?!!! (psst I thought it would be Basil)
~~~
Tenía intención de leer The Enchanter's Flame, así que me puse a leer la precuela para ir prevenida... lástima que no leí la advertencia de "se recomienda leerlo después de The Enchanter's Flame", así que no entendía muy bien cómo funcionaba toda la dinámica de los hechiceros y los diferentes puntos de vista solo me confundieron más. Afortunadamente solo se nos da a conocer un poco de la vida de ciertos personajes, y específicamente los sentimientos profundos que comparten Ailin y Emrys. Es un texto muy corto para dimensionar completamente el shock que debió ser para Ailin la "traición" de Emrys, pero igualmente cumple su cometido de familiarizarnos con el pasado de estos personajes y el "porqué" su relación está como está en el siguiente libro.
Un detalle que me chocó un poco fue el que Emrys se reponga tan rápido de perder su coven y la confianza del que creyó era el amor de su vida.
Un detalle bonito es ver la verdadera reacción de Ailin al conocer a su viramore.
¿Qué Disfruté? La introducción a este mundo mágico.
Pretty good for a short story. Betrayal, hurt, hope, love, and happiness all in a few chapters. Teenage Ailin breaking laws was so cute and Emrys betrayal was heartbreaking but the best part of this short is Ailin's POV the first time he saw Sebastian. ❤❤❤
Recommended to be read after the first book, Enchanter's Flame.
I enjoyed returning to characters I really like but this felt a lil rushed. It’s a novella so of course it won’t go into as much detail as a full Length book but I felt like plot line-wise too much was going in such a short amount of time. BUT I do love these characters so I’ll read whatever the author has to give
Precuela en la que se nos presentan a los próximos protagonistas de esta saga. Siento que ha sido necesario antes de empezar a leer la saga. Ha estado interesante y me han parecido todos los personajes bastante carismáticos.
This really ought to be listed as the Ellwood Chronicles #1.5, for though it is a prequel in telling a story that occurs before the first, it contains information that will spoil and confuse the first story. Best to be read after the Enchanter's Flame!
This is a well built short, detailing the history of Alec, Ailin, and Emrys. Events brought them together in unique ways, then horrible events ripped Ailin and Emrys apart. Now from Emrys' POV it is revealed what happened. In that reveal answers are given, but far more questions are asked. There is such story there, from the question of telling others to the question of the months of imprisonment and lack of signature. Most of all though this was the story of the broken love between two men who thought they had found their one and only but to have their lives forever changed and hearts broken.
The subsequent after/epilogue chapters further hint to developments for Emrys as well as hidden changes for Ailin and Seb. These chapters take place after Enchanter's Flame, enforcing the idea of reading that first. It paints a continued exciting story with the involvement of new characters and supernatural races. Looking forward to the next book!
The Witch's Seal is a short story from The Ellwood Chronicles series written by Michele Notaro, which serves as a shot prequel before the first book of the series, however this short story should be read after The Enchanter's Flame – the first book.
The short story is set prior to the first book. It is a wonderful back story to the events that made Emrys and Ailin break up. It is a very tense situation in where Emory tries to kill Ailin or at least apparently so, which leads to the ruin of their relationship, his banishment from the coven, and made an outcast in the magical community. It also shows how Emrys first encounters Julius – the vampire, who he would enter into a relationship with.
The Witch's Seal is written rather well. There wasn't much meat to this story, but it was a quick read and it is short and heartbreakingly sweet. The narrative is rather simplistic and straightforward and gives a wonderful background to Emrys – a character that is not one of my favorites, but this short story made my heart go to him.
All in all, The Witch's Seal is a well written short story about the life and times of Emrys as he tries to seal the demonic gate and ends up banished in the process, which nicely sets up his entrance in the core series. It is also a good addition to The Ellwood Chronicles universe, enriching the series a tad bit more.
The Witch’s Seal is the prequel to The Enchanter’s Flame: The Ellwood Chronicles 1 by Michele Notoro. The main character point of views are Alian and Emrys and Alec. We get to see what transpired between them before book 1 occurred. We get a look into secrets , thoughts and events surrounding Ailin Emrys and Alec.
Ailin is the head of his coven and a very powerful witch. When the Demon Gate needs to be closed the only other witch he can call on for helping with the dangerous job is Emrys, his boyfriend. Since he is strong as well, things should be fine, right? Wrong... very very wrong. Lives are changed forever and lovers are separated and that love torn apart.
A wonderful, well written tale that gives great background into the Ellwood Series universe. It was sad watching Ailin and Emrys go from being sweet and loving, getting naked in a car on the way to closing a demon gate to Emrys trying to kill Ailin. I felt for them, even though I know Ailin has someone special coming into his life, but still I got some feels reading what happened. Definitely made me anxious for book 2 in the series.
I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.
Passion, intrigue, heartbreak and hope all flow through this amazing and complicated story. Amazing world-building. Wow, i knew there had to be something extraordinary going on with the complicated relationship between Ailin and Emrys but this exceeded my expectations. Really sad, but i guess necessary to make room for their soul mates.
This is so well written and the characters are so powerfully drawn that you are immersed into the story immediately. i feel the pain and sadness, the love and hope and the sense of wonder of this amazing world.
I am absolutely hooked with this amazing series! i am ready for the next book and i know i have to wait until 2019 but i will try to be patient!
Well this is a prequel to the first book I recommend reading it after you read the first in the series or it will spoil some of the items. This book does shed light on items that happened in the first of the series and it help set up a good story line for the second. My heart aches for Emrys and the situation he was in. And I'm intrigued by this new Julius character. I like that they brought in more supernatural type characters and we got to learn more about Ailin's family.
In the first of the series I had issues with the style of writing where it was to repetitive with the dialogue a d prose,but this book seemed too clean up those writing "distractions" for me.
⭐THE WITCH'S SEAL is technically written as a prequel to Michele Notaro's THE ELLWOOD CHRONICLES series. Although it is a prequel, I definitely recommend following the author's suggestion to read this prequel after reading Book 1, THE ENCHANTER'S FLAME. ⭐ This book provides readers with information so that we have a better understanding of events that led up to Book 1. 👍 This is an emotional story that provides a more complete look into the past of several of the characters and a better understanding of them. After reading this prequel, I feel more connected to the characters and their stories. ☺ I am really looking forward to reading Book 2!
This book explains a lot of the backstory to The Enchanter's Flame and actually made me like Emrys! Everything that was hinted at in the first book was explained in this novella. Although, while it was a little hard to see Ailin and Emrys in love, knowing that Ailin is supposed to be with Sebastian, it was even harder watching both of their hearts being broken. But in the end it was how it should be for both to end up with who they are supposed to be with. I will be impatiently, hehe, waiting on the next book of the series!
I love this short and action-filled prequel! A lot of Ailin's reactions and behaviors in the first book make more sense now that I know of his history with Emrys. His absolute devotion to the kids in his coven is very clear in this story and he will do anything necessary to protect them. Emrys is put in an impossible situation and I felt so sorry for him. Hopefully he will get a chance at happiness as the series continues. This is an amazing world and I can't wait to read the next book in this incredible series.
I've been waiting for Emrys story for awhile, and it was DEFINITELY worth it!! This fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, emotionally charged, fast paced, action packed, gritty, gripping, raw, intense, excellent, exciting, amazing, smoking hot, and totally awesome story hit the ground running and never looked back. I was hooked from the very first page, ending up with a massive book hangover because I just could NOT put it down. The cliffhanger ending left me screaming "NO!" but I'm eagerly waiting for the next release in this marvelous series.
This was a great short prequel! Many of the questions we had from book 1 were resolved here by telling the story from different perspectives. Characters I previously thought were bad to the bone may just get a pardon from me!
I'm LOVING the new vampire friend! Ahh vampires are the best!
The only thing that sucks about this book is that I now know we have to wait until 2019 for book 2!
Loved this prequel to the Enchanters Flame. We get to see what happened between Ailin and Emyrs and the reason for their separation. It was weird reading those two together after reading Ailin and Web as partners but it definitely helps you to understand more of the backstory. Some more amazing world building from Michele and cannot wait for the next one!
Going in I really wanted to hate this because I was sure it would be too sad. Somehow the queen of heartstopping/heartstomping moments made me love it. I am looking forward to Emrys getting a happy ever after. This story is well written and answers questions from the 1st story. I highly recommend this new series.
So, I will admit that there was something about Emrys that I adored while trying to figure out why he had done what he did to Ailin. Well, I finally know and now all I want to do is wrap him up and make his mate appear.
Also, I can see why Ailin thought what he did and tries to figure out why it is that he still wants to believe in Emrys.
I love these characters in this series. The past between Ailin and Emrys is explained in this book. And while I love Ailin with Sebastian and Emrys with Julius, I felt a deep heartache for what they lost with each other. Discovering the truth of what happened to end their relationship was eye-opening. Knowing that they will find forgiveness and other loves later is relieving.
Really epic read - I highly suggest reading all 5 novels and this short which should be read AFTER the first book. Entertaining MC's, fascinating world and captivating stories make it a hard series to put down. It's definitely going on my "to be read again shelf".
Follow this series with the 3 book series "The Brinnswick Chronicles" - you won't be sorry!
More knowledge on the backstory between Ailin and Embry. The betrayal that set Em away from his coven and broken Ailin's heart. I was also nice seeing how Alec became part of the family. All leading to Sebastian, Ailin's Viramore and how this new series takes us on a wonderful adventure of family and love.
