Lone Star Lovers #2

Kiss Me Like You Missed Me

Rate this book
Once upon a time, a smart-mouthed virgin met a sexy football star. It wasn’t a fairytale romance. The sequel is gonna be rough too.

Kate

There was a time I’d have done anything for my brother’s friend Cole.
He was right out of my dreams: hot, charismatic, and talented beyond belief.
Maybe I was naïve to think I could, but I had to make him mine.
I thought that I was making progress until his talent took him away.
Not all dreams come true.

Now Cole is back, and I want him just as much as ever.
I’ve grown up enough to be embarrassed by the way I acted back then.
Time has taught me some hard lessons.
I don’t throw myself after the unattainable dreams—not anymore.
This time, I won’t be the pathetic, starry-eyed girl who gets her heart crushed.

If only I could convince my heart to agree.

Cole

It all started with a prank gone wrong, but the joke was on me the moment I laid eyes on her.
What were the chances my friend Ward would have a little sister like Kate? I didn’t even know he had a sister.
Kate was everything I could ever want, and against all odds, she even wanted me back.
Too bad her brother would murder me if he knew.
I spent my college years trying my best to avoid the one girl I wanted.
I left, letting her believe I never wanted her.

Now I’ve chosen to retire early from the NFL after four concussions in two years.
I needed to quit while I still had two brain cells to rub together, but I may be in for heartbreak instead.
I’ve come home to find that the girl I’ve never been able to forget has forgotten me.
I guess I should have told her the truth.
Kate’s convinced it’ll never work, and she’s just as convinced I never wanted her.
She’s still stubborn as hell and I don’t deserve her, but I’ve always loved a challenge.

This time, I’m not playing games.

Taylor Holloway is a bestselling romance author who writes sweet and sexy stories with just enough of an edge to offset all the feels. Her books are specifically Taylor-ed to make you blush, cry, laugh, and swoon. She's an Austin native with a penchant for bad puns, strong margaritas, expensive shoes, and shiny things. When she's not writing, she's working a hilariously bland corporate job, spoiling her husband and cat, or going for long walks in the dark.

I read this a week ago and already it's hazy in my memory... so this will be a sparse review.

I hate flashbacks.
I especially hate flashbacks when they are sprinkled about the story like a minefield!
It makes for an uncomfortable read...

Its that trope I love, but also rarely satisfies. Brother's BF takes her virginity (although he didn't realize it at the time... dumbass) and then walks away for stupid reasons. She had crushed on him for ages and so she was wounded (although she pretends she wasn't). She spirals down for a while before she recovers from his asshat behavior.

He goes off to become a football star, she goes on to be a nobody like the rest of us. Now he's back because his football career is over. Not because of her... although he has never forgotten her.
Kate gets to see pictures of him with starlets and models over the years. All meaningless to him but of course hurtful to her. Is this addressed? Not really.
Why did he wait til his career was over before he realized he still wanted her???

So anyways, he decides to pursue her as soon as he's back in town. She's not sure she can trust him (rightfully so) and makes him promise to keep their dating a secret. Nothing is dragged on too long as the whole contemporary timeline is a short period of time.

He's so into her, that I still find it hard to believe that he went out of his way to distance himself from her no good reason??? I guess I find him kinda disappointingly lacking in the cojones department.

The book is pretty 'clean' with only one spicy scene and the rest fade to black and references to after the fact.

Taylor Holloway has composed such a great story for us here of second chance at romance between Cole and his best friend's, Ward, little sister Kate. She had crushed on him but he hadn't realised that Ward had a sister and when he found out, much as he was attracted to her he knew that Ward would not be happy with him anywhere near his sister. But when Kate goes to college she asks Cole out on a date and, to put her off, he agrees but gives her the worst date ever. She then leaves him along thinking that he doesn't want her. But when he's been concussed too many times in his time in the NFL, he decides to go live near here to see if he has a chance with her as she is always in his thoughts. Taylor has written this with dual POV and it is really wonderful to be able to 'hear' their thoughts too as it adds so much depth to the storyline. Things will come to light when their eventual relationship status changes that will make you go "Oh!" A great read and I look forward to more books by her. Also just fyi bc I know ppl look for it..both had partners in seperation, and that aspect was touched on, but not thrown in your face.

I absolutely loved this book. I’d actually give it 5+ stars if I could. The story is about Kate a girl/woman who grew up poor and was bullied and ridiculed at school because of it and Cole a college football player who became successful in the NFL. The story switches between the present and six years prior when Kate and Cole meet and interact for the first time. The story was well written and flowed smoothly and logically. The characters were wonderful. I loved Kate’s attitude and love of life and despite Cole being a bit of an idiot at college, I admired that he eventually decided to fight for what he wanted. I know, a bit of a teaser, but you’ll have to read the book to find out more about their story and if they find their happy ever after. Really, this is a fantastic read, I was hooked from beginning to end. Do yourself a favour, get this book, I’m positive you’ll love it just as much as I did.

HELLO to romance reader's everywhere. Have you ever had the pleasure to read Ms. Holloway? If not, I strongly encourage you to pick up her latest publication, Kiss Me Like You Missed Me. Holy Hotness Batman. Cole just got knocked for a loop, Ward, Cole's best friend, has a shockingly gorgeous Sister, Kate! Too bad he didn't know of their relation prior to having interest in her.. Damn. Everyone knows Sisters are off limits so he does what he can to make sure she knows that they have no future together and he's not the one for her. The only problem is that he believes they do. When Cole decides to persue Kate and right the wrong he's done, will it be too late? Follow their beautifully crafted journey and see for yourself just how talented Ms. Holloway truly is.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Kiss Me Like You Missed Me in exchange for my honest/voluntary opinion and I am positive that you'll be as enraptured as myself with this impressive release. Thank you Ms. Holloway, I look forward to your next release.

Kiss Me Like You Missed Me by Taylor Holloway

As the book’s description states, ‘It wasn’t a fairtale romance’, but Kate and Cole provide an emotional trip filled with misconceptions, tension and feeling. The characters have a depth that makes them ‘feel’ human to the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed the interplay between the leads and supporting cast.

Well written and equally heart-warming and nail biting, this is a romance novel for anyone wanting a HEA with a traumatically entertaining path there.

Ms Holloway, you are a true romantic with the ability to put your imagination, creativity and heart into the written word. Keep the books coming, because I, and others in a like mind, will be waiting.

A solid five out of five, if only because I can’t give a six.

Kate has always had feelings for her brother's best friend Cole. When she started college she never expected for anything to happen between her and Cole but the attraction was too intense to fight. Possibilities were getting ready to open up for Cole and he didn't think he could have them while being with Kate. So he ended things breaking her heart. Now years later he is back in their hometown and wants to see if he could have a second chance with Kate. Kate is still attracted to Cole but is wary of getting involved again after being hurt so badly the last time. Can Cole convince her that things will be different this time?

This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Cole and Kate is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This book centers around Kate and Cole. Kate had a crush on Cole but he ended up breaking her heart when she was a freshmen in college. Cole became a professional football player until he is forced into early retirement due to 4 head injuries. He decides to move back to Austin to be near his friends but he also realizes he wants a second chance with Kate. Will Kate be able to forgive him for breaking her heart? I really enjoyed this book, it was well written and had a entertaining storyline. Kate and Cole were great characters and had amazing chemistry. If you enjoy reading second chance romance you will love this book.

We often get books about women getting in their own way when they like one another. This was so refreshing because it was the guy really liking the girl, she liked him to and had her issues, but having to work through how to really go for it. Cole is the hot football player who likes his best friend's little sister. He overthinks the reaction his best friend will have to a relationship with her with the help of their other close friend Lucus and blows a chance with Kate in college. In flashbacks we learn about that. Presently he works to get a second chance with her when they meet up again as the attendants in Ward and Emma's wedding. This was a delightful and quick read.

Excellent read...

Another excellent read by Ms. Holloway. This book centers around Kate and Cole. Kate is the sister of Ward and the BF of Emma from "Admit You Want Me". Cole is friends with Ward. Cole and Kate had feelings for each other years ago but circumstances and the "bro code" kept Cole away. Now that he has returned home for good, is there a chance for the two? I refuse to give you the answer but suggest you read this one for yourself....you won't be disappointed. Ms. Holloway has written a story with likable characters and a plausible story-line.

I love this series! Kate is Ward’s little sister and she’s been in love with his best friend Cole since she was sixteen. But he broke her heart when she was a freshman in college. Not that he didn’t care for her it was just too complicated. Now Cole has retired from professional football and has decided to settle in Austin. Cole says it’s to be near his friends Ward and Lucas but he has never forgotten about Kate. I love how Taylor writes her stories, this book is another exceptional book! Lots of love and passion! I can’t wait for Lucas’s story!

Wow, i loved this story, it just shows that you should not hide your feelings even though you think your best friend is going to beat the c*** out of you, Cole is back in his home town and sees Kate all grown up and he is still in love with her, but she does not want anything to do with him after he broke her heart. Can he convince her that she is all he wants.
Great, well written, unputdownable read, with charismatic characters.

This is a well written second chance romance between Kate and Cole. Their characters are strong and likable and have a hot chemistry together. The author does a great job weaving the story, showing both of their perspectives, telling it from the dual POV. I loved the way she sets the scenes from present to past and back again. It helped to get a real feel of their emotions. I enjoyed reading their story and would recommend this book.

Second Chance Kiss Does The Trick
by Korkoi

The book is full of secrets, painful memories, entertainment, laughter and amazing sexual chemistry. I was happy with the way the author built each of the characters with their back story andinking it to the present time. The relationship between Cody and Kate was not smooth but they finally made peace with themselves and found their happily ever after. You will definitely enjoy reading this book but just make sure you carve out a few hours before you start because you will not want to stop reading once you start. It is a must read book.

I might of given the full five stars because I loved all the characters but between going back and forth in time I failed to keep the warm and fuzzy about their chemistry but kept the angst of their mistakes for front in my mind. For some that is what breaks up too much fluff but it just kept me sad about failed communication. She sure was a wonderful girl for what she came from!!!

It's all or nothing in Taylor Holloway's second chance romance. Kate and Cole are learning to trusts their hearts without letting their heads get in the way. With a little bit of practice and an emphasis on heart, maybe they'll get it right this time around. Young love equals adult mistakes. Kiss Me Like You Missed Me is a new beginning for two long overdue broken hearts. Full of fire and angst.

I like the fact that these two had feelings for each other but due to the circumstances and the friends code they never make a go of it. Years later he has come home and has decided he wants to take a chance at happiness and she is the one he thinks will be his happiness. Taylor is a brilliant auther who’s characters are so likable you can’t help but root for them.

A great heartwarming story of a couple in love, torn apart by life and decisions made. In college Cole chose his football career instead of his love for Kate. Years later they are in Austin and are together but due to past heartache Kate suffers from doubt about Cole. Full of revealed secrets, doubt, fear, heartache, healing, forgiveness, laughter, passion, and love. A fun, witty, and heartwarming story of love surviving distance and time.
