Although The Chef is the fourth book in Xavier Neal’s The Bro series, it can be read as a standalone novel. I will admit to feeling a bit unsure about this at first – I felt as though I was thrown into the middle of a story, finding myself surrounded by characters I did not understand – but as the story progressed things became much clearer. I’m sure people will appreciate this story a lot more if they have read the prior books in The Bro series, but it is certainly a book you can read without prior knowledge of the characters.
If I’m being completely honest, it took a while before I was sucked into The Chef. I’m not quite sure what it was – the lack of understanding, the fact it took me a while before I felt connected to the characters, or the short period of time it took before I came to really appreciate the story being told – but it did take me a few chapters. However, once I was sucked in I found myself addicted.
It’s one of those stories that repeatedly put a stupid little smile on my face. I really enjoyed watching the way the characters played off each other and the way the relationship developed. It was such a fun cast, with plenty of drama and intrigue to keep you turning the pages. I admit some of the drama felt a bit on the childish side to me, a bit over the top, and some of the intrigue was expected, but it all played into the story and made it enjoyable.
I’ll certainly be giving the prior books in this series a read now, as I’m curious about how the other couples came to be together.
Although this book can be read as a stand alone it will help you not hate Julia's brother if you have read his book. He can come across as a jerk if you haven't had the opportunity to read his story and learn to love him first.
Julia and Wyatt are very similar people. They are both very passionate about what they do and they are both a little wild, the way they meet shows you exactly how wild! Don't worry, you won't have to wait long, that happens on the very first page.
Overall this was a great story. Julia is both strong and vulnerable, the confidence she has on her work she doesn't really with her family because of her past. Wyatt encourages her to change that, makes her happy. And she in turn makes him want to be better, to settle, to love, and to also fix his relationship with his family.
So why not 5 stars? I can't believe I am saying this... but... too much sexy time! It seriously got in the way of the plot. I needed more time to connect to Julez and Wyatt and more scenes to cement their chemistry. When the book was over I really liked it, but it also left me with a feeling that there was something missing.
I have read all of the Bro series. And let me say this, i have loved each and everyone one of them.
But this Book, and these two had my Attention the first time they met, and Landed in the Supply Closet.
Julez(A.K.A) Julia wants the life she wanted before everything fell apart. She wants what others have around her, a Family of her own. And not be treated like a Child or someone who needs protection 24/7. She is her own person and wishes others see it. Especially her Over protevtive Brother Paxton.
Wyatt is Sexy Hot Mr. Charming Chef. Guys like him toys with woman, regardless of when, or whatever. It's all a game to them. But what Mr Sexy Chef is about to met his perfect match.
When they met again at the engagement party and her telling him it was a Joke, not a Penis had me literally on the floor. The back and forth Quips between Especially the one with Capt Cock Block about her Brother.
These two had me laughing so much that I wanted so much for them. But the Bro code comes into play and Mr Sexy Chef pissed me off a time a two. But he came though in the end, by showing Julia she can be all she wants too and more. He never treated her like a child, like her brother. He loved her and this is why this is my All time Favorite Bro.
The Chemistry was Sexy, Sweet and most definitely Hot. Between the Stalker, Her over protective Brother, these two found what makes them them. I loved every single moment between these two.
Xavier Neal has a way of always you fall in love with her Characters.
Thanks love. The moment this came into my Kindle to the time I finish reading twice, i have been on A #TEAMJULIAANDMR.SEXYCHEF Team
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Food was Wyatt’s salvation, his reason for survival, until he met the one person he wasn’t supposed to want. He more than wanted her, he needed her, she became his reason for existence and he didn’t want to let go.
I absolutely loved this book, for me, it is the best of the four books in The Bro Series by Xavier Neal, she definitely saved the best until last. I was completely hooked by Wyatt and Julez story. Xavier Neal kept me captivated from start to finish and filled my heart with so much love and adoration. Xavier Neal has delivered another excellent and beautiful story, one that I will happily read, again, and again.
I loved Wyatt and Julez both equally, they were both full of life, ready to have fun and enjoy everything that life through their way and watching them at work was as HOT as HELL! They were perfect for each other, always there to build the other up and call them out on their behaviour if needed. Neither was too overbearing, or demanding, they simply wanted to bring out the best in each other.
I was with Wyatt and Julez all the way, supporting, and shouting, alongside them, for the love and support they both deserved, and needed, from their friends and family. I won’t deny that there was one character I was ready to teach the meaning of friendship too; although at the same time I understood why they reacted the way they did, I’m just saying if I’d have been there, I’d have happily kicked their ass.
I’m so sad this series has ended, as I have truly loved The Bro Series and each Bro will always hold a place in my heart. Humour, love, fun, and a diversity of subjects is what The Bro Series is all about, and if you’re looking for something a little different, I recommend giving this series a go, Xavier Neal will not disappoint you.
I generally enjoy Xavier’s writing and this series in particular and while I liked this one, I did feel like she unnecessarily prolonged the inevitable (and foreshadowed) conflicts which were then dealt with super quick in favor of repetitive sex scenes. Now I enjoy racy scenes as much as any reader but knowing that both the blow-up with Pax had to happen and with one too many hints that there was gonna be a return of the stalker in some way, I just felt like the book would’ve been better served by bringing that to bear sooner and cutting out some of the sex, particularly since both events then happen within (what seemed like) an hour of one another. Neither had to be drawn out but in light of what WAS drawn out, I would’ve preferred fewer sex scenes and more on the conflict, or candidly, end the book sooner which wouldn’t have taken anything away from the story and would’ve been preferable to feeling like the ending was rushed.
I've had the pleasure of reading almost all of Xavier Neal's books as hers are among my favorites. This is the newest installment in her The Bro Series. These can be read alone but add to each if read together. Wyatt is really kind of an ass. (Although I dont remember him being quite so much in the others) Then one night, the night of his "bro's" engagement party he meets HER. A woman that can and does bring him in a few notches. That is until he finds out she is forbidden. As in capital F... but he cant stop thinking about her. Julia "Julez" has a past. One that she wants kept private. And a VERY overly protective brother. But she is determined to live her life how she wants and this includes her play time. Will the past and obstacles prove too much for these 2?
This book is by far my favorite of the bro series! Wyatt is my man! While he is kind of a big jack as$ and he needs to be taken down a few notches. He's good a what he does though as a chef things have to be in order. Julia is the best person for him. She's been through so much in life and knows how to knock Wyatt in his butt. However....she's someone he can't be with. She's got an overprotective brother who wouldn't like them dating. Will these two be able to move forward with their relationship with the brother wanting to reconnect with his sister? Read on to find out!!! But be warned...Wyatt belongs to me secretly. ;)
I absolutely loved this final novel in the bro series. Julez just coming home and finally trying to connect with her family, even if she didn’t want to at first was great. I was glad to see Wyatt help her with that. But even more so I loved seeing more of Wyatt and really getting to know him. He’s been a favorite of mine throughout the series but he really hit me hard with his full story. I absolutely loved these two together and how easy it was for them to have each other. Loved having a little glimpse into their future at the end as well.
Wyatt finally gets his love, even though he didn't know he was missing it! Globetrotting, world famous chef, a man who cooks for Kings and Dignitaries, can have any woman he wants and has, meets a girl at a party........The wrong girl or is she? Julez is in town to open her new business, and attend her brothers engagement party. She meets a random dude, but is he? Coming home is difficult for her. Her brother is overly protective, with good reason! I'd say this was probably my favorite out of the Bro Series!
This was my first book by this author and the first in this series which will definitely not be my last read by him and I will definitely be reading the other book in the bro series. This book completely standalone I wasn't confused reading but definitely needed more information. Wyatt is a traveling chef he loves good and wants others to love it also. Jules has had people taken from her and made her see that you need to live life fully but she keeps her heart guarded because of this. These two meet even before they knew who the other was. Holy hotness. Loved this book!
Wow! What a wrap up to an amazing bro series. I love Wyatt and Julia together. Their big open care free absolute joy of each other is refreshing. I have never understood the whole best friend siblings are off limits to date. These are your best friends ; Familia! Once again Xavier Neal hits one out of the park. Connecting two souls together that makes each one a better person. Applause for keeping true to the characters and your heart. What a gift of telling love stories that make you want to be a part of them.
This story will steal your heart. I am so in love with Wyatt and Julia. From the first page to the end is amazing. This is the fourth book and last in this perfect series. I didn't want to see it end, but the author tell a story that here that is rememberable. The writing and flow of this book is absolutely fantastic. Do read this series in order for the full effect of the story. I absolutely recommend this book.
I've been an uber fan of Xavier's for yrs now. Initially followed her because she writes awesome stories of the genre I love. The last of the bros story was great. Julia and Wyatt chemistry was amazingly hot. I loved their dynamic wasn't rushed to let the other bros know about their relationship until they were ready but fate stepped in and made them step up.
3.5 stars. I love the passion filled relationship between Wyatt and Julia. I also can appreciate the story delving into the relationships of the other friends and their spouses. I would have liked to learn more about Julia’s confrontation with her own parents and the root of why she was initially treated as an afterthought early on. This is a very common problem with multiple children and I would have loved to get the parents viewpoint. Overall a very good read.
Xavier does it again! This book is so fantastic! So sweet and hot as hell at the same time. So in love with Juliez and Wyatt its not even funny! The love and lust is unbelievable and the way Xavier writes you feel it, like nothing I can explain! Xavier you rock sister and please keep that flow going!!
Another amazing book by Xavier Neal.. Wyatt and Julia’s story was an amazing one.. it was a book that once I started I couldn’t put it down till I finished it.. it had me hooked from start to finish.. if you haven’t checked out this book yet then what are you waiting for go one click it now and I guarantee you that you won’t be disappointed when you do..
I have loved all of the Bros. It's hard for me to choose my favorite. Wyatt has edge to the head of the pack. I totally enjoyed this novel. The story was beyond amazing and loved the ending. There was definitely a twist I didn't see.
Wyatt and Julia just wanted people to see the real person beneath their facade. So happy for them both. Pax was a real jerk and was extremely harsh in his comments to Wyatt and I pretty sure I wouldn't forgive or forget to easily.
Omg, Wyatt was hurt as hell!! Wow, loved him!! Jules was just the woman for him. She could stand 593-59-593 with Wyatt, and then have him eating out of hands, lol! Loved this book, so sorry it's the end of the bro series, but it an awesome ending!! Loved it!!
It seems these guys meet and fall into instant like with women that rock their sexual world. All in all, it deals with their past and lot of current sexual escapades with each other.
I couldn’t get into this story for some reason. I got bored half way through it. Maybe I was annoyed with all the random Italian being used throughout the book, I don’t know. The sex scenes were hot though. Didn’t draw me in
I liked all the guys stories (except the substitute). The one I didn't was because of my own personal feelings on the topic. I liked how they matured and remained "family" through the years.
I really enjoyed this book and I loved the characters and their chemistry. Wyatt met his match and I loved every single minute their story. Looking forward for more.
I waited patiently for Wyatt's novel in this series and was not disappointed. I thought Julia (Julez) was his perfect match. This story was good; plenty of romance, hot love scenes, and action and suspense. I loved catching up with the rest of the "Bros" in the series.
Probably the best one of the 4 books, mean passion, action drama and romance of course. I love the storyline of falling for my best friends sister it’s a classic. Neal add her special touch to this classic storyline.
Love thos series, but I think I was more partial to the books before. The female lead in this series was bada%$ though. In all of her books the storyline flows and it's a very entertaining read.
