Favorite Quotes:

Suddenly it dawns on me. What the hell am I doing with this tool? I'm only twenty-six and I'm acting like he's the last Neanderthal on the planet. I can do so much better.

But this woman doesn’t like me. I could tell it the moment she laid eyes on me. Bernice Shuttlecock. That’s right. Her surname is shuttlecock. And she insists on everyone calling her Mrs Shuttlecock. Every time I say it I can’t help but get a stupid grin on my face and have to literally bite my tongue to stop from laughing. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t like me?

He lays down on the pebble beach and immediately starts posing like Zoolander, pouting his lips ridiculously… ’‘What? You don’t like my blue steel?’ he asks, as if genuinely offended.

‘So, do you have any Irish in you?’ he asks… ‘Do you want some?’ he asks, throwing his head back on a chuckle.

Who knew I’d ever imagine Tom ‘Manwhore’ Maddens being a keeper? I suppose stranger things have happened. Like dinosaurs.

When you look at us on paper we’re opposites, but when you put us together we’re forced towards each other like magnets.

My Review:

This was a fun and saucy tale, I have enjoyed reading the two previous books featuring this irreverent group of friends living in Brighton, they got into and up to the most ridiculous antics. Alice had self-esteem problems and devastatingly poor taste in men and learned the hard way about revenge porn. Snap, that was a new one for me as well. So dear Alice had learned not to trust her judgment when she found herself attracted to her sexy new roommate Tom, a known sex machine in her group of friends. Tom was a blindingly handsome, cocky, thoughtless, and arrogant womanizer who was well known for his sexual skill set. Tom also proved hard to resist and more so when he brought home a cute but trouble-making puppy. The characters were endearingly flawed, foul-mouthed, and entertainingly quirky; yet with real-life problems. Written in my favorite dual POV, the storylines were well balanced between angst and levity while dealing with career, family, and relationship issues. I’m curious to see what Ms. Barnard does next with this vibrant group of friends.

I don’t know how the author does it, but Laura Barnard has the knack of making me laugh at even the grossest of situations. And that’s something I don’t say lightly. My gag reflex is alive and well. Whaaa? TMI? *shrugs*

I’ve got you intrigued though, don’t I?

*wags finger* Puh-lease, like I’m going to give you any hint of what I’m talking about *smirks* I’ll put it this way, retching and laughing at the same time is the new thing, lol.

*coughs*

Right, enough of my nonsense *straightens cuffs*

Insert serious reviewer face - bahahaha, like that’s ever gonna happen.

So, yes, this story can be read as a standalone but as a fan of the series I’ve been eagerly anticipating this release.

I have to put my hands up and confess that Tom wasn’t one of my favourite characters. He’s always had a knack of making my hackles rise. Although I have to give him props. He’s never pretended to be someone he isn’t. He wears his MW badge loud and proud! And at his core, he is fiercely loyal when it comes to his friends.

It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and put your trust in the wrong place. For poor Alice, one rash decision has come back to bite her in the hiney, thanks to an unscrupulous ex. With her business suffering as a result, and a flat mate leaving her high and dry, she’s running out of options. Could Tom be the answer to her prayers?

*snorts*

Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d utter *giggles* I totally meant as in the form of her new roomie. Duh!

On paper this looks like a recipe for disaster; commitment-phobe vs. trust issues, meat-eater vs. vegetarian. You catch my drift?

As sparks start to fly, can Alice and Tom put aside their personal issues and take a chance on each other? *shrugs* If only it was that simple, huh? Nothing is plain sailing for these enemies to lovers.

I love how the author doesn’t sugarcoat events with her characters. There may be laughs, but there is a lot of heart. Life isn’t all unicorns and rainbows, and a particular life altering event for one character had me sobbing my heart out as it touched a particularly raw personal nerve. But it made me love Laura even more for it.

With hints to future couplings, I can’t wait to see who’s up next. I can foresee at least two... *winks*

Bagging Alice is the third book in Laura Barnard’s Babes of Brighton series, and it’s another must-read from the author. After reading and enjoying Excess Baggage, book one in the Babes of Brighton series, I was more than willing to read more stories following the characters I found myself falling in love with. With how much I enjoyed Love Uncovered, book two in the Babes of Brighton series, I was desperate for even more. Even though I have read some other Laura Barnard books and enjoyed them, I do think the Babes of Brighton series is my favourite.

Know you do not need to have read the two prior books to understand Bagging Alice. It works perfectly fine as a standalone romance, but you will enjoy it more if you have read the prior books. The understanding you have of side characters and references adds something extra to this story, something you will miss out on if you read this as a standalone novel. A lack of knowledge will not make this book impossible to enjoy – as I’ve stated, it works fine as a standalone – but those little things you get through having read the prior books makes it all the more worthwhile. Plus, the prior books are great.

If I’m being completely honest, I was a wee bit unsure about this one at first. I was enjoying it, yes, but I did not fall as madly in love with it as quickly as I did the prior books. It was enjoyable, but I was not howling with laughter. It was enjoyable, but I was not obsessed. It was enjoyable, but I wanted that something more. Then that something more hit, and I was lost to the story. I was howling with laughter, I was obsessed, and I could not get enough of the story.

You fall in love with the characters, both as individuals and as a couple. Watching them deal with their individual issues and grow as people is great. Watching the way the romance between them blooms is beautiful. Watching the way everything comes together is fabulous. It’s a quick read, but there are so many layers to it, so many different elements to enjoy and fall in love with. The main characters, the side characters, the events, the drama, and the humour – those are just a few things that will leave you obsessed with the story.

Without a doubt, this was a wonderful addition to the series. If you’ve yet to read the Babes of Brighton books you need to dive into them, as they are wonderful reads.

I cannot wait to see what happens with the other ladies, as I’m excited for their stories in the future.

This is the first Laura Barnard book I have read.

I was excited to read this book as the synopsis caught my attention immediately, it seemed just my type of fun read. I was a bit surprised by the opening chapter as it starts with a quite graphic sex scene however once I was into the story I quickly became swept along with the authors way of writing.

There are a few sexually graphic scenes and some sexual language used throughout the book but the author has written these from a fun point of view which had me smiling and laughing rather than cringing – you know what I mean!

The author has a modern, fun way of telling the story of Alice and Tom and I really did enjoy the journey of the ‘will they – won’t they’ and reading quicker and quicker to find out what happens.

Laura Barnard has brilliantly introduced all the characters in such a way that I felt I knew them well – they were not just names – and there are a lot of friends to remember.

I especially loved the character of Alice – her clothes sound fantastic and I’d love to be able to be brave enough to wear her style!

It is very much a standalone story however I feel I should now read the first two books in the Babes of Brighton series to get the back stories on the friends.

Excess Baggage (Book 1) – mybook.to/ExcessB
Love Uncovered (Book 2) – mybook.to/LoveUncov

Thank you to Laura Barnard for the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publication.

Stick with my review, it starts bad but gets better.

"Operation 'Bagging Alice' is in progress." Not overly keen on this start but hey let's see what happens. I can't wait to see more of this guy! ... (That's sarcasm... there's a lot of that in the book too).

Alice is in a pickle, whereby she needs a room mate or she will have to forfeit her lovely, expensive, flat in Brighton. Tom 'Manwhore' Madden needs somewhere to stay after landing a new job, in a town he doesn't live in. It goes without saying that these two end up as housemates, and as the title suggests, Tom goes about trying to bag Alice. He bets his mate that he can bag her, and as you'll probably guess, he falls for her for real causing all kinds of problems.

The amount of swearing and crude sex discriptions in this book is insane! I didn't think of myself as a prude, but maybe now, I shall reconsider that notion.

I haven't read the first two in the series, and it looks as though I should have done. From the start there is obviously something between Tom and Alice, for her to feel such anger toward him. She is vile to him when the story begins, and he isn't so nice back. They have a small close knit group of friends so they have to get along to a degree, but they swear at eachother, slag eachother off behind their backs, they generally just are not meant to be friends, let alone anything else.

The over use of the word 'tool' and 'neanderthal' in the first couple of pages was just something else! Never have I seen them so often repeated to describe the guys she doesn't like! Luckily for Alice, I agree with her. Tom is a MASSIVE tool!

"Plus, those bitches are hot." How is this allowed? Surely people don't think like this? Tom says the most derogatory things about women, his attitude sucks. I realise the point of the book, was to let us know how gross he is, and what a 'manwhore' he is, so that when he finally wins Alice round (or does he?) we will think he has turned a massive corner. But I don't believe men think like that. I refuse to believe men think like that. I certainly don't know any that do.

At about 30% I think I had either got used to the swearing/sex/general rudeness, or it had calmed down a little, because I started to forget about those bits and steam through. That's not necessarily to say I was enjoying it, but I wasn't stopping reading either. There are some funny bits. The bits with Pickle are pretty funny and cute.

I didn't like Alice as much as I maybe should have done. But I am intrigued by some of the other characters, so I think I may go back to the first two books in the series and check those out.

By the end, I realised I actually wanted to know what happened, and so therefore I must have enjoyed it! It is well written, it has a good pace to it. I read "Bagging Alice' really quickly, so I must have liked it, right?

Overall, I think that if you are a fan of this genre of book, then you will love this. If like me, you are an occasional dipper-inner of these types of books, then you may be pleasantly surprised, but not completely swayed. A solid 3 stars, well done Laura Barnard, and as I say I will definitely be going back to the first two books to check in with the peripheral characters.

[ I received a digital ARC for an honest review]

Bagging Alice by Laura Barnard is the third book in her Babes of Brighton series but can be read as a standalone.

Alice Watts hasn't had the best luck when it comes to picking men. After literally choking on her ex, he destroys her life by posting private intimate photos of her online for revenge. This leads to her loosing her photographer job and ruining her reputation. When her roommate up and leaves without notice she is on the verge of loosing her home. The last thing in the world she wants is to live with Tom 'man whore ' Maddens, but she is desperate. Tom may have a gorgeous body but Alice can't stand his slutty ways and how he acts as if he is gods gift to woman. Tom is less than thrilled at his new living arrangements, but he just needs to make it through the trial period at his new job and he will be out of her hair.

Alice and Tom surprisingly mesh quite well. Quickly they learn more about each other and the more they learn the more they care. But they are destined to crash and burn because of lies and reputations. If they want to be together they have to be able to forgive and accept.

I found Alice's character a hot mess and totally relatable. Tom was charming and ended up having way more depth and emotion than I ever expected him to have. I loved the tight bond between the cast of characters. Alice and the girls were always looking out for each other and had each others backs. However, I struggled to get into the writing style, it wasn't until about 30 percent into the book that it started to flow for me. I also felt that the characters were a bit too crass and sometimes it wasn't necessary. I felt like it negatively impacted the story at times.

Overall, Bagging Alice  is a quick fun enemy to lovers, roommate romance. I would be interested in reading more books by Laura Barnard in the future.

The opening really starts with a bang..no really! Not exactly tasteful but then that’s the point. The idea behind the story and the title isn’t exactly pleasant but in real life often true.

Alice Watts is literally exposed by her scum of an ex-boyfriend, loses her job and her roommate and has no choice but to accept Tom ‘Manhore’ Madden as her next roommate. Something she’d rather not do for obvious reasons but times are tough for her with no other choice.

Some good humour with fun banter between these fabulous characters is threaded throughout the story making me chuckle quite a lot. Likewise, I wanted to slap a few of the characters upside their heads at times, especially Alice’s family...what twats, as she would say!

The mystery of the photos being revealed is not as straightforward as you think which does add a delightful touch to the story, it’s always good to try to solve a puzzle.

Bagging Alice is a fast-paced, easy to read story that is a light romance that leaves you feeling terrific. I will definitely be going back to explore more from this author.

Where do I begin with the really good, quick easy to read book. I really enjoyed it and it really made me long to take that trip back to Brighton. I really laughed at this book but the start was kind of spiteful it not a nice way to read.

This enemies to lovers book was quite brutal to start but it was great to see the slow eye-opening love that began to seep from the pages. I didn't really gel that well with Alice as a character. I mean she was good but I just couldn't connect. Tom and Alice end up being great together but it was kind of hard to get past the brutal beginning with a lot of what was said.

All in all, it was a good read but for me, it wasn't an all-out winner. I do recommend it for those who love an enemy to lovers read.

5 laugh out loud stars!!!

*ARC received in return for an honest review

I am totally enjoying this series, it just gets better with each book and Bagging Alice has to be my favourite so far.

I love Laura Barnard's sense of humour that is present throughout all of her books that I've read so far. Bagging Alice had me laughing out loud most of the time but it also had me shouting out and shaking my head when it looked like Alice was going to do something she'd regret. Right from the beginning I was rooting for her, she was going through a really tough time thanks to her ex-boyfriend (I could've cheerfully punched him!) who had posted intimate pictures of her on the internet.

Although she came across as feisty and strong Alice was also quite vulnerable and insecure especially where her no-good family was concerned. Her brother was another who I could've cheerfully punched too!

I have to admit that I never thought Tom was boyfriend material for anyone, never mind for Alice, but he was perfect for her. They had a great chemistry together and I loved the witty banter that flowed between them. I also loved the way Tom stood up for Alice when he eventually got his act together.

The scene stealer and star of the show, for me though, had to be Pickles the puppy. Omigod, at times I couldn't breathe for laughing over her antics. Some of the training scenes reminded me of trying to train my own dog and the way Tom and Alice bickered and argued over Pickles were hilarious!

Bagging Alice is a quick read and the perfect 'anytime' read, whether it be your holiday read lying by the pool or curled up on the sofa on a rainy day.

I can highly recommend this book but I would suggest reading the other two books in the series first to get a better understanding of the backstory of the characters and to avoid possible spoilers.

Audio Review
Laura Barnard is relatively new to me and the narrator Victoria Riley is new to me but Brighton is my old stomping ground and I was drawn to a story based in a town I knew so well and I wasn’t disappointed. The narrator did a great job of bring the characters to life and making me feel like I was home in the UK instead of Sydney Australia.
Alice’s life has gone down fast thanks to her ex and she now finds herself looking for a roommate and it seems the only candidate is Tom ( Man Whore) Maddens who is also looking for a fresh start. Friends recommend they become Roomies and Alice is not happy about this arrangement but she soon realises this is her only option. They say there is a fine line between love and hate and this couple are certainly walking a fine line when it’s comes to attraction add in sizzling chemistry and a adorable puppy named Pickles you soon have hate turning to love but can Tom convince Alice he is a changed man....
I enjoyed this witty, fun, entertaining audio book and I will certainly be checking out other books in this series.

* I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own *

This is the story of Alice Watts who has naked photos of herself on the internet which she has been trying to get down posted by her Ex, just lost her job and her flatmate, could anything else go wrong.
Needing a flatmate so she can keep paying the rent she has only one solution to rent to commitment phobe and man whore Tom Maddens.
After making a bet with his mate to bag Alice, Tom quickly takes the chance and takes on renting the room with Alice, trying every which way to seduce her. Alice, knowing the reputation of Tom, dissuades him at every turn.

This was a funny story in the Babes of Brighton series, with the love/hate relationship between Tom and Alice and the input from the other characters. Will they both find that point in their relationship and let the love blossom. Can’t wait to see what comes next by Laura Barnard.

Bagging Alice is a new funny and sexy addition to the Babes of Brightong series.
It could be read as a stand alone but you will see the characters of the previous novels throughout it.

I’ve really enjoyed to read this hate to love story.
Alice and Tom don’t look like a good match but their banters are hilarious and their chemestry is hot.
I liked how they discover their feelings for each other are changing but they both have some issues to overcome before to start a relationship and how they act in the face of a troubling situation shows how immature and hardheaded they really are.

I have really appreciated how Laura Barnard talks about serious themes even if this is a sexy rom com.

My thoughts:

I really found myself warming to the main characters, Alice and Tom almost immediately in this lovely romance. Alice has justifiable trust issues, given that her previous boyfriend shared an intimate photo of her on a revenge porn site. Tom, amazingly, has not seen the photo, with all of their mutual friends doing their best to keep it from anyone who has not already inadvertently seen it. Their chemistry is visible to everyone who sees them together but for different reasons they both try desperately not to act on their growing feelings. The addition of a cute little Jack Russell terrier called Pickles adds a lot of humour to their story too.

This book is utterly charming and I honestly could not put it down and ended up reading it in one sitting, because I wanted to find out what happened next. Although it is a standalone book, I believe the characters, together with their friends, are in the other books in the Babes of Brighton series, and I will definitely be checking those out too!

Having not read anything by this author before I didn’t know what to expect, but from the first line it had me laughing. I love how it wasn’t love at first sight too.

Obviously there were serious parts as well with what happens with Alice and her ex and Tom. He is a typical British man whore, so cock sure of himself! Alice knows how to knock him down a peg or too!

Definitely going to read the first two books in the series too!

Bagging Alice

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. While it took me a bit of time to get used to the different phrases used by the characters, the story had a nice fluidity about it, until the end. I felt like the ending was pretty abrupt. I also didn’t much care for the twist in the story. Otherwise, I enjoyed.

Bagging Alice starts out with a really intense, unabashedly cringe-worthy scene, the kind that puts you right inside the mind of Alice, unfiltered and real. It’s something to be appreciated while the story is told from both Alice and Tom’s perspectives, dipping back and forth between the two, so we can get a firm handle on just how much they clash. There isn’t much in common, and while she’s actively looking for someone she can potentially grow old with, he’s having a hard time remembering the name of the last woman he’d hooked up with.

Yet, there is a lot more beneath the surface, for both characters. Their situations in life have put the unlikely couple in predicaments where they have to let their guard down and be completely honest with one another. Tom presents himself as this near-chauvinist womanizer, it’s blatantly obvious that he tries hard to believe half of what he tells himself, in order to get through the day. Then there’s Alice, who appears to want to be the complete opposite of the supposed role models she’s had to look up to for most of her life, doing everything she can to not fit into any set roles or groups. In this way, they’ve both put up serious fronts in what I imagine to be a protection from getting hurt.

While I appreciated the blatant verbiage in Bagging Alice, with plenty of four letter expletives and more to spare, I found that it got a little thick in some parts of the story, so I found myself focusing more on that then what was taking place. I also felt there were some areas where the tempo sped up too quickly, when I wanted time to slow down so I could really become a part of that particular moment. However, I felt the characters were well-written and gave me a clear idea of who they are, the age they are, and where they are not only when it relates to their own personal stories, but the overall plot.

Bagging Alice was a fun read, touching on subjects that are relevant to what’s going on in the world today, while told from alternative perspectives. It wasn’t all just fun and games, but I think that added a nice layer of depth to Alice and Tom, making them relatable.

Great romcom with great characters and a beautiful setting!!!!

One of my favorite things to read is a good romcom, and Laura Barnard gave me exactly what I was looking for. Bagging Alice is the third book in the Babes of Brighton series, but it is a complete standalone! You do get an introduction to characters that appear in earlier novels and that made me want to download those. But, this is Alice and Tom’s story, and what a story they have to tell us. There is insane chemistry, romance, and a ton of laughs!!!!

Alice and Tom are complete opposites even down to what they eat. She is a vegetarian, and Tom IS NOT!!! Alice is also pretty much done with men. She isn’t the best judge of character when it comes to the men she dates. For instance, her last boyfriend has posted naked pics of her on the internet as revenge for her breaking up with him. She is losing clients and now her roommate has left her with no notice, and she needs someone to help with the rent. This is where Tom enters the picture. They have the same friends, but she isn’t a fan of his. When she finds out he needs a place to stay, she really doesn’t want him sharing a flat with her. She soon realizes she has no other option, but she gives him strict guidelines. Too bad Tom has a bad habit of not listening, and it seems he is intent on making her fall for him.

Tom and Alice were meant for one another even if they don’t realize it. I loved the banter between them. For all their differences, each of them feels as if they don’t fit in with their families. Despite him driving her nuts, she is slowly realizing there is more to Tom than his reputation. He accepts her for who she is, and she is beginning to accept the “real” Tom. I just adore a good “opposites attract” romance, and this one is a favorite! With the addition of a sweet, energetic puppy, I was in love with them all.

I really enjoyed everything about the book. It was well-written with a beautiful beach setting. I loved the characters and the sense of family the friends created. I wanted to be a part of that, and I felt like Barnard did that. I highly recommend reading this sweet, funny romcom!

From the synopsis alone I was intrigued, but I'll be honest, the first chapter took me aback a bit! This novel starts off with a pretty intense sex scene, but as you get to know Alice and her group of friends, you realize that life is a little crazy for them. Some of the friends are romantically coupled up, others are a bit jealous that they can't find that kind of love for themselves (cough cough Alice) and then to top it off Tom moves to Brighton. This total player thinks he can waltz into Alice's life and turn her into another conquest to boast about, but she doesn't make it easy for him. Somehow he realizes that she's actually a great person inside, as well as being physically attractive. There are a lot of ups and downs emotionally throughout this book, so many that it could get too complicated, but Laura Barnard really pieced it all together well I thought the emotional bits were well balanced between interjections of comedic moments and I grew to love Alice and Tom and their eclectic group of friends. I love that everything had wrapped up fairly nicely at the end, Alice's life is far from perfect, but at least she had some answers about everything that went wrong, and maybe she's found true love too! I definitely recommend this book for fans of Rom Com-type contemporary fiction, and check out the other books in this standalone series too! I haven't read them myself, but if this one is any representation of Laura's style, I'm sure they're just as enjoyable to read! Once I got about halfway through this ARC, I couldn't put it down, so it was definitely a quick, but very enjoyable book to read.

I absolutely LOVE this book! It is epitome of the quality and style of read I have come to love and expect, from Laura. Over time I have really found her niche of writing to be absolutely perfect for an evening read, especially as we approach the colder months, and need a giggle and a bit of warmth in our books.

Alice is a lovely character, filled with flaws, ambition, strength and is attempting to build a new self, after her livelihood and professionalism have been shatter by a devious ex-lover. As we watch her world crumble, we see her spirit and fun nature rise from the ashes, just in time to invite in a new, and very sexy roommate, who may have more on the books for them than share a toilet and kitchen! I also really liked his character, even though I am not normally one for the ‘player’ types. Something about him screams that he wants something more in life, but only knows the ways he’s been in the past. It is lovely to read along as he discovers there is so much more to life and just how fun a cheeky photographer can be.

The pace of this read is perfection. We are carried along on their journey, as they basically create new lives for themselves, and never rushed. Don’t get me wrong, there are fast-paced, sexy and steam filled moments, as well as moments of laughter and blunders, but there are the essential slower moments to really give us time to get to know the characters and their stories.

Overall, this is a brilliant read. It is definitely the best book I’ve read this year and I truly loved every page. It is a definite must read!

This is the 3rd book in the Brighton babes series and another great book from Laura Barnard.

Alice has just discovered that her ex has been posting photos of her naked online in revenge and at the same time she looses all her work as a photographer and her roommate moves out leaving her to find someone else to help cover the rent that’s due at the end of the month.

This is where Tom aka the man whore comes in and takes up Alice’s reluctant offer that he can be her new roommate.

Tom is looking for a fresh start after disappointing his dad again. When Alice offers for him to stay at hers then he jumps at the chance as it’s better than sleeping on his friends sofa. What he doesn’t bank on is falling in love with Alice in the process especially as he’s known for being a player something which Alice certainly isn’t.

The chemistry between the pair of them is electric and even though they hate each other at the beginning they grow to like each other and then eventually start falling for each other. What happens who if Alice finds out about the bet Tom made with his friend before he moved in and she thinks it’s all been a big joke and a lie and really what people said is true that Tom really is a lady’s woman and she was just another notch on his bedpost.

Although you don’t have to read the previous books to understand what’s happening it’s a good idea if you do as they are great in themselves.

I normally read a lot of YA but I do like to read some chick lit as well at times so when Laura approached me I was intrigued by the synopsis of Bagging Alice.

The very first line of this novel had me in hysterics- I had to snapchat it to some of my friends.
"God, I hate sucking cock" I mean how many people can agree with that?

There are quite a few saucy scenes and sexual conversations but I feel like they were quite well written and worked within the settings.

I loved the banter between Alice and Tom, the "will they, won't they" dynamic had me eager to keep reading to find out when they would eventually get together.

In all the humour and funny moments there are also serious tones as well- such as revenge porn, work place sexual harassment, loss of a loved one, child custody agreements.

It really does seem like a lot to pack into 260 pages but somehow Laura managed to get it all in there and have it work.

I loved Alice's character- and her style sounds amazing- honestly I think I want some of her outfits in my wardrobe.

Whilst this is the first of Laura's novels I have read, I did find out that I had actually downloaded one of her other novels ages ago but never got round to reading it as my kindle broke, so I will definitely be reading that soon, and looking into more of her other novels.

Thank you so much to Laura Barnard for giving me the chance to read and review Bagging Alice- and also for being so patient with me.

Alice is a freelance photographer, who never expected to find herself on the other end of the camera, after a disastrous break-up with her boyfriend, Ted, who then posts naked pictures of Alice on a revenge porn website. And to make the day even worse, Alice’s roommate moves out, so she’s left with no other option than to let Tom “Manwhore” Maddens move in. Tom secretly has a bet with his friends that he will not only sleep with Alice but get her to fall in love with him.

I read this in an evening and was delightfully surprised at how enjoyable it was. I was alternately infuriated with Tom and rooting for him.

This story tackles some tough topics including the danger of the digital age, sexual harassment by a female supervisor to a male co-worker and the death of a parent.

One of my favorite passages from the book because I feel like if we all lived our lives this way we'd be much happier! “From that day, I vowed to never attempt to blend in again. After all, it had got me nowhere.” “Before buying something, I wouldn’t ask myself ‘what will people think?’, instead I’d ask myself ‘do I love it?’”

Bagging Alice (Babes of Brighton,#3) by Laura Barnard is a cute story about a girl name Alice. She has cappy luck when it comes to boyfriends. This time she hit the jackpot. A mad ex posted naked pictures of her which has caused her clients to cancel working with her. To make matters worse, her roommate ups and moves out without notice. She has no way of making her rent till Tom "manwhore" Madden comes into town and needs a place to stay. Alice would rather eat dirt than have to deal with Tom but she doesn't want to have to go back home. Life with her parents is not something she wants to do. She will have to endure Tom. Even though this is book 3, it can be read as a standalone. I had not read the previous 2 books and had no issues reading this book. An enjoyable story of a young lady dealing with a casanova. She knows her track record and definitely doesn't want to get caught in Tom's web. Unbeknownst to Alice Tom has made a bet with one of his boys that he can bag Alice. This story is comical at times, heartfelt at times, sad at times along with being down right sweet. A 4.5 star story.

With that opening chapter, you know you're in for a treat!

Bagging Alice was funny, heartbreaking and so current. Every one of the characters were so believable and I couldn’t wait to read more about the gang.

Alice is going through hell. He ex-boyfriend has posted a naked photo of her on the internet, her flatmate moves out and her clients are canceling on her.

Tom has just found a job in Brighton and moves down from Peterborough. He needs a place to stay but Alice doesn’t need the ‘man wh*re’ living with her, as much as Tom doesn't want to live with the ‘Ice Queen’ but I just loved everything about their relationship from the beginning.

From the start, they are frenemies, their back and forth banter was great, then things blossom slowly but surely. With these two you can’t help but sit back and enjoy what happens, and there are so many layers to them both. Between them and their group of friends, you will find yourself smiling at their wit and yet, hurting for them too.

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be a laugh out loud hilarious! One of my favorite things about this book was that it was written in true British form! The language, descriptions and dialogue were written in true a true English format. I appreciate there wasn't continual switching between American lingo and English. It made the story and characters more authentic and believable.

Alice is quite the funny lady that finds herself in some hysterical situations. Her inner dialogue had my cheeks hurting from laughing or chuckling often. I really liked Alice and found her to be relatable, down to Earth and quirky. I had so much fun reading about this character because she wasn't a cookie cutter character. Tom, Manwhore Madden added quite a bit to this charming romcom. His internal dialogue and struggles were charming and often funny.

I enjoyed this book from the moment I picked it up until I put it down. It brought a certain kind of laughter and joy to my day. This author is new to me and I will definitely be reading more of her books!

When a story has you choking on a mouthful of coffee by page one you know you're in for a real treat of a read. Bagging Alice is one of the funniest books that I have read this year. The brutally honest language had me laughing out loud throughout and I could not have enjoyed it more if I tried.

Having said that, the book isn't all light humour as it does delve into deep and socially appropriate topics for our time adding in darker layers to the storyline and creating a more serious tone than your average chocolate box comedy rom-com.

Alice and Tom's relationship was on fire throughout as their chemistry lit up the pages with sexually charged banter that kept the story moving at a delicious pace meaning that I was unable to put the book down in a desperate urge to discover if they would finally make a connection.

This is a gem of a story and one not to be missed. I loved my time in Brighton with Alice, Tom and the rest of the gang and I can't wait to read more by this author in the future.

I have always enjoyed Laura's style of writing and it was no different with this one. As soon as I started this book I was hooked. She always manages to deliver a book filled with humour and quirky banter that draws you in and amuses you.

Alice is left in the lurch when her roommate moves out with no notice, add in the fact that her ex is trying to destroy her life, means things aren't' going well for her. Tom is new in town and needs somewhere to stay so ends up as Alice's new roommate, he's her last resort.

Alice and Tom are total opposites so the love/hate back and forth between them is amusing to watch play out. Even though Tom labels her the Ice Queen at first, he starts to quickly see a different side to her.

I haven't actually read the other books in the series yet but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of it. This book can be totally read as a standalone. It will just peak your interest and make you want to read the other stories.

Bagging Alice, the third book in the Babes of Brighton series, can be read as standalone. Well written with a good pace, I found it to be a modern and fun enemy to lovers roommate romance.

While I don’t consider myself a prude, I will admit that the opening graphic sex scene and crude language that continued throughout was a bit of a turn off for me, but I’m glad I continued on as the overall story grew on me and in the end, I found it to be a bit flirty and fun. I loved the modernness of the story and how it dealt with relevant topics like sexual harassment, realistic dangers of social/digital media and commonality of dysfunctional relationships. There were moments I found myself laughing out loud I loved watching the romance between Alice and Tom Bloom... I found myself rooting for them. Pickles was a deal sealer.

A young adult contemporary romance, this is a fun read for the audience intended.

Thank you Laura Barnard for the opportunity of reading this prior to release.

Its no secret that I am a huge fan of Laura's work and I have been eager to get my hands on Bagging Alice, so when it arrived on my kindle, I dropped everything to dive straight in, and as usual, I wasn't disappointed.

This is part of the Babes of Brighton series and is the story of Alice and Tom. Despite being part of a series it can be read as a standalone easily and isn't confusing if you haven't read the previous books. Laura introduces each character so well that you feel as if you know them personally.

As usual, Laura manages to perfectly mix romance and humour superbly and has you both rooting for Alice and Tom to get together and also cry tears of laughter. I cannot stress how wonderful her style of writing is the pull you in to each and every book.

There is plenty of romance, intense sex and hilarious moments.

Another brilliant novel from Laura and another that I need a paperback copy of to look pretty on my shelf!
