Housewife #3

Housewife On Top

Rate this book
‘I’ve left you a list on my desk,’ Rick said . . . The house fell silent and I wandered into the study to collect my instructions. There was only one scrawled piece of paper on the desk so there was no mistaking the single command. It said: organize Christmas. Helen is finally finding her feet just in time for the looming festive season. Surrounded by family, friends and the finer things in life, Helen’s generous offer to organize Christmas for the neurotic Leoni soon snowballs into an unmanageable avalanche of tasks when her chaotic boss dumps his seasonal arrangements on her too. And with Julia heading towards a mind-boggling midlife crisis of her own, it looks as though Helen is well and truly stuffed! And so it begins, the season of good grief to all women . . . This book was better than house wife down but still a far cry away from good. It felt like the book suddenly ended a chapter too soon. Just as we were about to get what could have been a really good ending, it just finished. I liked Helens character a little more in this book but still found her to be a bit boring. There is still no love, excitement or adventure to these books which is a real shame.

O. K....so what exactly was the story? I have no idea! I’m afraid I just didn’t get it. To me it just felt like I had stepped into someone’s life just before Christmas and stepped out on Christmas Day, with just the usually things happening in between. Knew it wasn’t going to bode well when the author felt they needed to explain who was who in ‘The Cast’ upfront rather than weave the characters into the story as it went. I found the school part unrealistic and the ending just well...didn’t feel like an ending. Not for me this one.

I love the way Allison write about the friendship that works around the novel itself. It just seem natural and lovely. I surely said that the starting of the novel was quite boring and made me want to stop reading, however when you reach deep inside the book and you seem to know the character of Helen, Rick, Julia, sara, marcus,David, leonii and Millie..you just want to read more about them.. However, maybe with the crowded character inside the books just make you confused at first then it just the characters itself make up the story..

Started this book read about two chapters and chucked it in a corner. Total rubbish.

Another book given to me by my sister, but wasn't desparate enough to finish it.

By the way what ever the title may suggest - its not - might be readable if it was. Ha Ha

Another book of this author I gave away in my attempt to get rid of clutter. It's poorly written.
