The Wolf of Destruction

Myriana
When I was a child and on my way home through the woods, a wolf found me. I was not wearing a red hood, and he didn’t want to eat me. But he tore something inside of me - something like a veil perhaps. Because before I met this wolf in the woods I saw the world in a clear way. After meeting him, I saw it in several ways, which were not as clear.

Perhaps this change happened because it was the first moment that I realized I was mortal. The first moment I understood for certain that my life could end. Perhaps. I suppose every child has that moment. It sounds like it should be traumatic, but I don’t really recall that thought, or that moment of shock. I do recall the shock of watching the wolf shift. I recall how much it scared me then. I had never seen that before. I knew of it, of course, but my shifter mates were all too young to shift yet.

What I saw at first was a weapon. A creature whose purpose was to kill; his longer claws, his jaws and fangs. It seemed killing was his only purpose, until I saw his eyes, and how bright they were. Even shifted into a beast he had clear use of his mind.

He could no longer speak the human language, but I understood the shifter sign language, which I was taught even before I could speak myself. So, I understood him, and knew he was lucid in this state - which opened up so many worlds for me.
After I came home and the wolf went away, I couldn't shake the thoughts of him that invaded my mind.

My hand was on the back of this wolf’s neck now. He was mine for the taking. But the question was not, would I take him? It was, should I?

Fenrir

Wolf of destruction or not, I was a man to be feared. A beast to be dreaded.

That’s not to say I was the only danger.

Myriana, in all her human innocence, had the makings of a woman who could ruin me. I was well versed on measures of breaking bones. And she, whether she knew it or not, was well versed on measures of breaking hearts.

She already had her own reverse harem with three shifters under her belt. She kept them loyal, tamed their beasts, loved them relentlessly and in turn, had every fraction of their hearts reserved for herself.

I’d never dealt with matters of the heart. Never thought I’d see the day that someone looked as distraught for me as Myriana did when she thought I was injured beyond repair. And no matter how tough, the human part of me wanted to know just how much more I could mean to her.

The Wolf of Destruction is the first book in the reverse harem series A Dark Reign.

It was a very interesting read. The wolf of destruction is not what the stories can make him out to be and Myriana trusts him implicitly without a doubt with her life, but the wolf came for a reason and that's to open Myriana's eyes to the dangers that lurk closer than anyone thinks.

I loved this book and I hate that I can dive into further detail because I don't want to give anything away, but it's so incredibly detailed and everything that is going on is crazy and incredible to read.

Disclaimer I received an arc copy for an honest and voluntary review!

Interesting story line. Set in a dystopian future but feels like the Middle Ages. It’s a spin on Zombies, and shifters. The writing style kept me from feeling close to the characters and relationships didn’t really start to build until the last quarter of the book. Lots of questions left unanswered for me.

Shifters, zombies, and some craziness. The Wolf of Destruction is a spin of a futuristic yet middle-aged world. I love that Myriana doesn't jump in to certain situations. Myriana might be a young Queen but she thinks about how to solve her problems in the Realm as well as she takes in suggestions from those around her. What will happen next?

A wild ride

I really loved the fresh spin on the familiar mythos of shifters and zombies. This story was richly drawn out with full world building and well fleshed characters. Such a good read and can't wait for the next.

A tale to he read

This book was a refresher. Something different and far from the norm. Mix of human and shifter and zombies. A perfect read for an afternoon with a glass of wine

description

This is a story of a young princess being left alone by the death of her Queen Mother.
How a Guardian wolf protected her --getting her safely home.
This girl would be crowned Queen. This is her story, her kingdom,
her life, and her loves. She learns of long held secrets, and how
much danger is in her world and around her...How does she
manage to survive? Only time will tell. A marvelous writer
I look forward to reading more from her.
