After a bad break up with my ex-boyfriend, I've lost faith in men. Period. If that’s not bad enough, I’m currently unemployed and sleeping on my brother’s couch. When I finally land a job interview at the city’s best marketing firm, I don’t realize that the rugged and handsome man who helped me earlier is actually the CEO of the company...
Remember when I said I've lost faith in men? Well...one thing leads to another and I’m crushing hard on my boss. But I’m still struggling to let go of my past. Can I finally overcome what's holding me back and go for the man in the pinstriped suit who’s way out of my league?
Hunter: I’ve built my company from the ground up and I’m not going to let a one-night stand ruin everything.
My life revolves around my multi-million dollar empire. That’s until I hire Blue. I know I am straight. But Blue somehow steals away all my attention and makes me question everything I know about myself, especially my sexuality.
I’ve always been a private man who’s strictly business. But keeping this secret relationship with Blue is not only killing me inside but my business as well. How much of my company am I willing to put on the line to explore this forbidden love affair?
Warning: Blue's Boss contains explicit sexual content not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.
The Everett Bros focuses on three brothers who go on their own journeys to find love. Each novel in The Everette Bros series can be read on its own or as part of the series.
Well, this is awkward and disappointing; was expecting a different outcome, as have read other books by this author, and have liked them. And this one, no so much. Issues are : a disjointed and choppy plot and dialogue . Also, the sex scenes were boring and the characters weren't fully developed.
I liked the couple, but the dialogue doesn't feel natural in this one. It gets sappier and sappier and the drama feels silly and unnecessary to the story. Hunter doesn't really behave like the leader he's supposed to be most of the time. So that could have been done better.
The sex is okay, but too short. One of the best things I liked about this book is the underwear fetish.
I will read the second book because I liked Harry. He's stubborn and seems to be a difficult person to deal with, so I'm hoping his story is interesting. Let's see...
This is a GFY/OFY story, a plot that I normally really like, but it fell a bit flat for me here. Hunter goes from straight to gay/bi/pan(?) very quickly, without doing any soul-searching whatsoever. No angst, no slow-burn, no introspection.
Hunter and Blue's feelings come on strong and fast, both lust and love, and as a reader I had a hard time catching up or feeling their connection. I never warmed up to Hunter, who seems very aggressive and a real egomaniac, with little self-control. I'm not a fan, at all, of his old underwear, no matter the symbolism behind it. I liked Blue better than Hunter, but he is very naive, as well as a bit shallow in his own right, and I don't get what he sees in Hunter or why he almost idolizes him so :-/
The plot was at times overly dramatic and predictable.
This was an okay story nice premise decent characters but the story felt rushed. One character was really sweet and fluctuated between being confident and being extremely immature. For the other his newly awaken feelings were not explored but was rushed into.
To my ratings (thanks to amazon I had to change it again and 'upgrade' it a little bit)
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth King, 'Save the kids' series from EM Leya or 'Jesse's Smile' from Angelique Jurd), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, but not really an often reread book
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
I love GFY (Gay For You) novels as a rule because they remind us that nothing, even one's predisposed sexuality, is set in stone. The premise of this novel was well thought out, but there was a somewhat hurried feeling to the writing and the characters were a little more one dimensional than I expected. The "straight" character was not given a lot of time to explore the new and totally unusual situation he found himself in when he was confronted with a young man that he could not seem to forget. The gay character was set up to be a very lovable person, but he seemed to go from being confident at times, to being almost completely unable to handle his life. The other characters were all good supporting roles, but like the main characters, it seemed as if their whole selves were not really put on the pages fur the reader to really enjoy. That having been said, it certainly was NOT a hardship to read Ms Blake's book and I will say that the book is well worth the money and the time in order to enjoy the world of Blue and his boss. This advanced reader copy was given to me in exchange for a completely unbiased and honest review.
Blue is having hard time. His boyfriend broke his heart and everything just went to pot following. He is forced to live on his brothers sofa while job hunting and trying to sort his life out. Blue is trying to do up his tie when he meets the most beautiful man who kindly offers to do up his tie for him. Little did he know that would be the same guy who is going to interview him in ten minutes. Hunter is top of his game and he has worked hard to get there. Nothing is going to get in his way. Especially when he remembers what he has came from. That is until the cute guy from the coffee shop shows up for an interview. But hunter is straight or at least he thought he was. This is a cute sexy gyh insta love with a few twists along the way really enjoyable and definitely can’t wait for the next in the series .
I really enjoyed the premise of this book. This is not your typical "fall in love with the boss" trope since in the beginning Blue doesn't work for Hunter. This was a sweet story of two men that have dealt with hard times in their past but find what they need in each other. The story was told from the dual POVs of the two MCs so being able to understand everything that was going from both perspectives was great. I was really glad when Hunter finally took his blinders off where his employee Marie was concerned because I was ready to throttle her big time. I think my favorite part of this book was the first meeting between Blue and Hunter, it was so cute and romantic to me...and of course the ending, because who doesn't like a happy ending!
This is an interesting story but unfortunately it just isn't for me. I had a hard time with the writing style and I don't really like Blue or Hunter. I like the first part of the book when they meet but I struggled with it once Blue went to work at Hunter's company. The way he is treated by one of the long-term employees is deplorable and I hate how Hunter deals with it. They lack a connection as a couple which made it difficult for me to enjoy the rest of the book. I like the relationship between Blue and his brother Harry as when he needs help and support Harry is there for him even if he is a bit grumpy at times. He is my favorite character and I look forward to reading his story. Overall it isn't what I expected even though I have enjoyed this author's books in the past.
Blue’s boos was a beautiful mm romance story Hunter was a successful businessman of his own company who didn’t think that he was gay till the day he met Blue. He couldn’t understand why he found him so attractive till he found himself completely taken over by his beauty. After Blue had his interview with Hunter for the job he didn’t think he would get it but with some convincing Hunter hired him for his company, however Blue’s direct manger was not too happy with it and she would do anything for Blue to fail specially after she discovered the secret that Blue and Hunter tried to hide. After the traumatic event Hunter realized that the happiness is worth more than being overworked all the time and it was time to make some changes.
Blues Boss is my first introduction to author Candice Black, and I had a great time with it! The two main characters are likeable, and there are some fun, spicy moments throughout.
But one thing I noticed, was that the characters could have used a bit more depth. For example, Hunter’s first encounter with a guy felt a little quick—I wish we could have explored his feelings more instead of him just jumping into pursuing Blue without any hesitation.
Yet, that being said, it was a super easy read!
And there wasn’t much drama. The characters fell for each other pretty quickly. Even with a few bumps along the way, everything worked out nicely in the end and overall, it was a light and enjoyable story that left me smiling!
Blue’s Boss is book number one in the Everett Bros series by Candice Blake. This is Blue and Hunter’s story.
I enjoyed Blue and Hunter’s characters. Blue and Hunter actually met before Blue was working for him. Their first time meeting was so much fun and even then they felt drawn to each other. Their journey to love and happiness was filled with hot chemistry, tough situations, and sabotage.
FYI, contains mature content. This is a M/M gay romance. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a super cute read! I really love the name Blue and Blake’s Blue just added to how much I adore the name - he was seriously sugary sweet. Hunter was the Prince Charming every novel needs. Beautiful writing, I loved their interactions together and I read the book in just over an hour because I was addicted and couldn’t put it down once I started! I can’t wait for the next Bros addition to this series. I’ll be keeping my eyes out!
A great, hot and sexy story. Great storyline that is well written and flows smoothly. Blue and Hunter are great together and they have incredible chemistry. I really like how their relationship developed and I loved watching it grow. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and am curious as to which brother is next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
They didn't know each other when they first met, but something was there and you can't fight fate, they chemistry between Hunter and Blue was powerful and they weren't gonna let anybody break them. It was a beautiful read and a beautiful come together. If you ain't already then I suggest you read it, its worth it
I hate leaving bad reviews, but this book was just not well written. The dialogue was shallow and the plot, while seeming promising in theory, just didn't flow. I think maybe the author could sharpen their skills and bit and be better. However, at this point I can't say I enjoyed this book.
It was a beautiful reading. I'm glad I've picked up the book (the majority of the comments about this book weren't so promising) because it was AMAZİNG! The love story between Hunter and Blue felt so real! The background story was well developed and the chemistry between the two was so hot. This is the first book I've read of this autor. I highly recommend it.
Even the about the author page had a mistake and out was only two sentences. The only reason i have it 3 stars is because toffee story itself was good ounce you for lizard three spelling and grammar errors.
This is the first book I have read by Candace Blake. I loved this story between Hunter and Blue. Great chemistry and storyline. I am excited to read about the other two brothers.
I enjoyed reading this book about how two people who were as different as night and day fell in love. Even with the problems that they encountered, love won!
Main Characters: Blue & Hunter I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 4 out of 5 stars This is a m/m contemporary straight to gay romance. Blue is laid off and living with his brother until he can find another job. He meets a stranger who helps him just before an interview he has. Blue is in his mid twenties and not all that confident. Low and behold the interview is with the handsome man he just met in the coffee shop. Turns out the job was for an project administrator position. Blue really wasn't all that qualified for the position but Hunter hired him anyway. You have to read the book to find out why Hunter gave Blue a job. I enjoyed this book and the 2 m/c. It was sweet, sexy and heartwarming.
