It took nearly dying for Tycho to realize he's never felt truly alive. He lives in a society where humanity has overcome all obstacles, both external and social. In the last hundred thousand years humans have spread across the universe, living solitary lives on vast estates with robotic companions to cater to their every need or want. He can travel anywhere within hours, witness the wonders of the cosmos for himself. Or he can enter the full immersion of the allnet that holds all the accumulated knowledge of tens of thousands of years and lets him live lifetimes on created virtual game worlds with other allnet users.
The only thing missing in his life is real life contact with other humans. It's a lack he has barely even noticed before, but now feels deeply. So he begins his search for someone willing to meet in person, only to discover that real humans aren't as easy to get along with as his familiar companions.
Are his efforts worth the uncertainty and possibility of pain?
