An easy, fast reading fun!
The story is interesting, basically fluently told, definitely has potential, but is too superficial in some areas.
The story could use a little more substance to shape the world in which the story takes place. Mere Marie and her role in the story is only sketched, but would bring a lot of depth to the understanding and interplay of the characters.
Also the main characters lack depth: character, personality, spirit, background and deep emotions. The beginning of the relationship between Echo and Rhys is good, but the development into a real couple, why and how feelings develop, has gaps. The explanation "we have a unique bond that connects us and brings us together and binds us together" is not enough.
There is no real inner struggle or overcoming obstacles, only the superficial challenges of the framework plot. A near-death experience towards the end of the story is ticked off too quickly and without analysis or consequences and thus does not get caught as a dramatic event that welds together. "Is not so bad by now, more a slight cut in the finger." Too bad!

Please don't misunderstand, the book itself is good, the story/characters too, but there are still gaps and many possibilities to take the reader deeper.
It's the first book in a series of three. I am curious whether the quality will develop with the further development.
Solid 3 stars.

This is AWESOME! The premise is great and I know for some there are questions...read the prequel! However, the premise is great and I can see the flow of the rest of the series.

I enjoyed this story. The premise is intriguing and the characters are well written. Lots of questions left at the end of this one. I look forward to reading more.
